Chapter 332: Second Floor of the Poison Dragon Cave
Chapter 332: The Second Layer of the Poison Dragon Cave
Li Wei stood at the entrance to the second layer of the Poison Dragon Cave.
Glancing around, he said, "What are we waiting for? Let us descend."
Evelyn nodded and replied, "Let us go."
"Last time I remained on the second layer and failed to find the entrance to the third."
Li Wei was somewhat surprised and asked, "Is the terrain below very complex?"
Evelyn nodded and said, "Indeed it is very complex, like a vast underground maze."
"Maze?"
Upon hearing the word maze, Li Wei recalled the Endless Maze.
He now harbored a faint phobia regarding mazes.
The experiences within the Endless Maze were far from pleasant.
The three made their way toward the great rift.
The sunlight overhead gradually faded, leaving the view before them dim.
A small fireball flew from Li Wei's palm, hovering above the group to illuminate the surroundings.
Greenish-purple moss crawled across the damp cave floor and walls.
All these mosses possessed toxicity.
Within the Poison Dragon Cave, almost nothing existed that was free of poison.
Rustling sounds.
Li Wei heard the noise of poisonous insects crawling within the soil around them.
The invisible armor could withstand poisonous insects and miasma, yet could not drive them away.
The poisonous insects would still approach the trio.
Observing this, Evelyn said, "Use the talismans; these creatures are rather bothersome."
Li Wei nodded and stated, "If the three of us walk together, one talisman suffices; I shall handle it."
He retrieved the talisman and activated it.
A unique fragrance spread forth.
Upon smelling it, he instantly felt mentally clear and sharp, with a cool chill deep within his mind.
The scent of the talisman served to refresh the spirit.
It could resist the erosion of most toxic fogs within the Poison Dragon Cave.
After the talisman's fragrance dispersed.
The surrounding poisonous insects immediately fled in haste.
Li Wei saw a purple-black venomous centipede, two fingers thick, burrowing out from a stone crevice near his feet to escape.
A trace of shock appeared on his face; he was somewhat startled.
He had not expected such a large poisonous insect right beside his feet.
Suddenly, he was bumped from behind.
Li Wei instinctively turned his head to look.
Lilith approached Li Wei with a tense expression.
Li Wei displayed a look of surprise, "Do you fear insects?"
Hearing this, Lilith glanced at him, suppressing her fear, and stepped backward.
"Hmph, I am not afraid."
Li Wei chuckled softly.
Lilith spoke with some annoyance, "Why do you laugh? Were you not startled yourself?"
Li Wei turned back, remaining silent, a faint smile lingering on his lips.
Evelyn glanced back at the pair, saying nothing.
The three continued their advance.
Wherever they went, poisonous insects retreated.
After walking for a while, the three halted.
Under the glow of the fireball, one could see white toxic fog filling the cave ahead.
Evelyn said, "White miasma is the least toxic fog within the Poison Dragon Cave, yet one must not be careless; sometimes white miasma may possess extremely potent toxicity."
Li Wei asked, "Can the talisman withstand it?"
Evelyn nodded and replied, "It can."
Li Wei walked toward the white miasma.
Upon nearing the white miasma, he unexpectedly discovered that the aura emitted by the talisman actually formed an oval, pushing aside the surrounding white miasma to create a safe zone.
His spiritual power swept over the white miasma.
Li Wei discovered that the so-called fog was actually countless tiny particles.
These particles were in constant motion.
Li Wei speculated it might be certain bacteria or minute poisonous insects.
These tiny, imperceptible poisonous insects also disliked the scent of the talisman and would instinctively avoid Li Wei's vicinity.
Evelyn and Lilith drew near Li Wei, walking within the protective range.
Merely white miasma did not necessitate the use of three talismans.
The three proceeded toward the depths of the white miasma.
White fog pervaded the area, obscuring the contents of the cave.
Li Wei projected his spiritual power to inspect the scene ahead.
The spiritual power sensed the forms of countless poisonous insects.
Viewing this made Li Wei feel a numbness on his scalp.
He was verging on suffering from trypophobia.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Something moved rapidly within the white fog, stirring up vast gusts of wind.
Li Wei hurriedly said, "Be careful, something is approaching!"
Evelyn and Lilith both grew alert, preparing for combat.
Not long after, Li Wei spotted the object moving swiftly within the white miasma.
A black spider, multicolored and the size of a washbasin.
A kaleidoscopic black.
Under the glow of the fireball, as the multicolored black spider moved, its colors shifted constantly upon its body.
It tended to align with the surrounding environment.
This was a form of camouflage.
After the multicolored spider approached the three of them, it leaped up and spewed a deadly web from its abdomen.
The web sliced through the white mist, emitting a sizzling hiss.
A piercing odor wafted through the air.
One breath induced dizziness and heaviness.
Fortunately, the scent of the talisman cleared the head; otherwise, one might have collapsed after just a single inhale.
Li Wei actively activated his invisible armor to block the toxic gas.
The fireball above grew rapidly and shot towards the deadly web.
Whoosh!
Crackling!
The flames consumed the deadly web entirely, leaving a poisonous aura lingering within the cave.
Even though it had been burned, the venom carried by the web did not vanish.
Instead, it spread into the air.
The surrounding white mist gradually turned a ghastly green.
Seeing this, Evelyn's face showed alarm as she shouted loudly, "Be careful, this is a Widow Spider, a Tier Three Poisonous Beast."
"Retreat quickly, do not touch this green poison fog; even the talismans cannot block it."
Li Wei did not retreat; he raised his right hand.
"No need to step back, I will burn everything to ash!"
"Flame Impact!"
Blue conical flames spread out, filling the entire cave.
Crackling!
The poison fog dissipated rapidly under the scorching blue fire.
Squeak squeak squeak!
The Widow Spider let out a terrified cry and hurriedly retreated.
"Not so fast! Fire Snake Technique!"
The flames before Li Wei transformed into a fire snake, shooting towards the retreating Widow Spider.
Watching the flame transform its shape so splendidly before her eyes, Evelyn revealed a look of shock.
Such control over magic was simply unbelievable.
Gazing at Li Wei's back, she felt utterly stunned within her heart.
The process of Li Wei casting spells completely shattered her cognition regarding magic.
She had never imagined magic could be used in such a way.
"Is the Element Tower that powerful? Boosting Li Wei's strength this much?"
Evelyn thought to herself.
She had assumed Li Wei only learned these things after arriving at the Element Tower.
Lillith calmly watched the flames ahead.
The shadows beneath her feet gradually quieted down.
Li Wei had already seized control of the situation; there was no need for her to intervene.
Whoosh! Boom!
The fire snake caught up to the Widow Spider, exploding with a boom.
Turning the Widow Spider into ashes.
The spreading flames also burned away all the poison fog within the poison cave.
Before their eyes lay an open expanse.
Evelyn lamented, "You were too ruthless; the Widow Spider was burned to ash, both the silk gland and venom sac are gone, wasting a huge sum of money."
Hearing this, Li Wei did not feel regretful.
Loot depended on luck.
If there was something, it was good; if not, there was no need to force it.
In battle, he could not possibly consider such matters and choose to hold back.
Just charge blindly.
