Chapter 479: When the Midnight Sun and Polar Night Alternate

Chapter 479: The Alternation of Eternal Day and Eternal Night

Gwenasked Levi why he was so obsessed with finding the Secret Realm of Time.

Although they possessed precise information provided by the Ice Queen regarding the location and timing of its appearance,

Gwen remained uncertain about their chances of actually entering it.

Beholding the Secret Realm of Time and stepping inside it were two entirely different matters.

The Ice Queen had made this abundantly clear to both Levi and Gwen before their departure.

Thus, Gwen harbored little hope.

The Ice Queen had glimpsed the Secret Realm of Time more than once, yet she had never managed to cross its threshold.

She had not hidden this fact from Levi.

Faced with Gwen's doubts, Levi offered no reply.

He merely urged her to quicken her pace, saying, "You will understand when the time comes."

Sansi possessed the reverse scale of the Time Dragon, which surely granted a significant chance of entry upon sighting the realm.

Levi could only comfort himself with this thought.

After all, if they truly failed to gain entry, he had no better alternative.

Sansi’s identity had to remain concealed for the time being; once inside the Secret Realm of Time, her strength would increase exponentially, making it far less dangerous for Gwen to learn of her existence.

The two continued their trek through the darkness toward their destination.

A faint anxiety stirred within Gwen's heart that they might encounter enemies ahead.

Levi, however, thought only of reaching the Secret Realm of Time as swiftly as possible.

Bound by contrasting mindsets, they walked together through the bitter, freezing dark.

Whush, whush, whush!

A frigid torrent of air swept across the floor of the Abyssal Depth, stripping away all warmth and plunging the already frozen world into an even deeper chill.

Levi and Gwen took refuge within a sealed ice shelter, hiding from the piercing gales outside.

Listening to the mournful howl of the wind, Levi grew intensely curious about the origin of this glacial current.

They had already reached the very bottom of the Abyssal Depth, yet the source of the freezing wind remained unseen.

Only when the shrieking of the storm subsided and finally vanished into silence

did the two step out from the ice shelter, Gwen gripping her Frost Staff to sense their surroundings for a moment before they resumed their journey in the confirmed direction.

"Light... is that light ahead?"

Levi whispered.

Astonishment mirrored on Gwen's face as well.

The floor of the Abyssal Depth lay at an unfathomable distance beneath the surface, far too deep for even the aurora to pierce the heavy, suffocating darkness.

This place was meant to be an utterly lightless void.

Light here was an absolute anomaly.

During their march, Levi would cast a minor Luminescence spell to cast a fragile glow upon their surroundings.

Aside from that, the Abyssal Depth harbored not a single glimmer.

The sudden appearance of light filled both Levi and Gwen with profound caution.

With a subtle gesture, Levi extinguished his Luminescence spell.

"Let us go see. If someone is there, we may have already been spotted."

If that light was of artificial origin, the moment Levi sighted them, they most likely noticed his light as well.

Dispelling his magic now was merely self-deception.

Gwen nodded, replying in a low whisper, "Mmh."

They stole toward the illumination.

As they drew near, Levi discerned the source of the glow—a luminous crystal.

He scanned the periphery, gazing at the shining stone from a distance, and noted, "This does not seem to be a product of the Abyssal Depth. It was likely brought in by outsiders."

Gwen nodded in agreement, "It is possible."

Levi unleashed

"The twelfth one."

Li Wei silently counted the number of luminous crystals they had encountered.

Starting from the third luminous crystal, Li Wei and Gusevi had already determined that these glowing stones were not traps.

Their sole purpose was to serve as road signs.

After passing the twelfth luminous crystal, Li Wei suddenly noticed light appearing ahead as they continued walking.

This time, the radiance emerged from nothingness into the darkness.

Li Wei instantly realized that enemies lay ahead.

He tugged gently on Gusevi's hand and whispered, "They're right up there."

Gusevi glanced at him, her expression grave, and asked softly, "What should we do?"

"Let's follow them first and see, then decide."

"The Time Sanctuary is up ahead, isn't it?"

Gusevi nodded in agreement. "Yes, it seems to be in the same direction we're heading."

Li Wei felt slightly puzzled—were these people really here to awaken the Ice Emperor?

Or were they simply after the Time Sanctuary?

Perhaps the place where the Ice Emperor resided was near the Time Sanctuary.

The two quickened their pace forward.

After closing some distance, the enemies finally entered Li Wei's psychic sensing range.

He didn't dare directly probe their strength with his mental abilities.

He maintained only the bare minimum of perception needed to sense the presence of objects.

Several moving figures remained quite distinct compared to the stationary surroundings.

Li Wei feared that overly strong psychic probing might alert the enemy.

Maintaining a safe distance, they followed those people for a while when Gusevi suddenly spoke up: "Li Wei, the Time Sanctuary is right ahead."

Li Wei showed surprise. "We're here already?"

That group continued advancing without any sign of stopping.

It appeared they truly weren't coming for the Time Sanctuary.

They continued until they slipped beyond Li Wei's sensing range.

Li Wei and Gusevi remained at the location of the Time Sanctuary, waiting for the moment when polar day would alternate with polar night.
