Chapter 566: . Wait, you say he's a recruit? (2)

Book 566. Wait—did you say he’s a recruit? (2)

“I’m certain. Lin.”

Haijida’s tone was resolute.

He added, “I’ve felt it myself—the thunderous force brimming with annihilation and devastation. Even I dared not confront it head-on.”

“Thunder Law… Thunder Law…”

Mokodo’s six arms began rubbing together, his voice tinged with delight and exhilaration.

“If this truly is someone who has grasped the Thunder Law, then for our Hundred Star Regions, it’s undeniably momentous news. How long has it been since our sector last witnessed a martial genius capable of comprehending such a supreme law?”

Rising from behind his desk, Mokodo’s voice deepened as he demanded, “Where is he now? I must see him immediately.”

He could hardly contain his eagerness to verify the truth of this report.

“He’s outside the base—I didn’t bring him in.”

“Haige!”

Mokodo’s voice sharpened, laced with mild reproach.

“You could have waited until his identity was confirmed before escorting him here. Leaving a potential Thunder Law master—a prodigy of such caliber—alone beyond the base’s shielding dome? That’s an egregious disrespect.”

“I understand, Grand Star Commander.”

A flicker of helplessness crossed Haijida’s face as he replied, “But… that individual’s current situation is rather complicated.”

“Hmm?!”

Half a minute later, Mokodo and Haijida stood outside the fortress, at a designated spot beyond the base perimeter.

Before them loomed a colossal violet-red luminal cocoon.

Its surface churned with two immense forces entwining and surging in ceaseless rhythm.

The cocoon itself seemed alive—pulsing inward and outward, like the vigorous heartbeat of a cosmic leviathan.

Their arrival instantly startled the two warriors stationed beside the cocoon, as well as several others who had paused mid-transit through the shield barrier, drawn by curiosity. They bowed deeply, voices trembling with awe and trepidation:

“Greetings, Grand Star Commander!”

“Greetings, Lord Haijida!”

Haijida offered a curt nod in return, while Mokodo’s six eyes remained locked upon the cocoon, unblinking.

After roughly two or three minutes, all six of Mokodo’s eyes stirred with animation—and within them gleamed intense joy.

“It *is* the Thunder Law—undoubtedly. And he’s a pure-blooded Stellar Human too! Hahahaha!”

Mokodo burst into laughter, one of his six arms slamming hard onto Haijida’s slender back in exuberance. “Haige—you’ve done us a tremendous service! Bringing back such a formidable, exceptional talent!”

“Grand Star Commander… *cough*…”

Haijida turned pale under the impact, feeling his fragile frame nearly disintegrate.

“Ah, my apologies—I got carried away.”

Though Mokodo spoke thus, not a trace of remorse showed on his face; instead, he radiated warmth, as if bathed in spring sunlight.

As Grand Star Commander of the Hundred Star Regions’ Interdimensional Battlefield, his duties extended beyond repelling the grotesque abominations spilling from the Shadow Universe—he was also tasked with channeling elite talents toward the Core Star System, a key metric in evaluating his political performance.

Now, within his jurisdiction, suddenly emerged a Level Thirteen warrior—master of the Thunder Law, with foundations far surpassing ordinary Level Thirteens.

No wonder Mokodo was overjoyed.

“It seems our righteous compatriot gained considerable benefits after slaying that lackey of the Forgotten Sovereign—appears he’s reached a critical threshold, teetering on the brink of breakthrough.”

Mokodo beamed even wider.

Outstanding talent, formidable power, profound cultivation—and brimming with vitality? A rising star, indeed.

Once he awakens, Mokodo would cultivate rapport, persuade him to remain in this Interdimensional Battlefield for several years, imprinting him with the mark of the Hundred Star Regions. Then, a formal report to the Core Star System…

*Oh ho.*

Wouldn’t that be a stellar achievement?

Mokodo’s inner calculations spun furiously, and his mood, so buoyant, softened even his imposing, authoritative aura into something approachable.

After studying the cocoon intently for a while, he smiled and asked, “Do you know anything about our companion’s background?”

Haijida pondered briefly before replying, “Unclear—but we might summon those rescued by him from the Forgotten Sovereign’s henchman. Perhaps they know something.”

Mokodo waved dismissively. “You handle it. Swiftly.”

“Yes.”

Without delay, Haijida issued several commands via his auxiliary light-brain interface.

Soon after, a small shuttle descended, and two figures, escorted by a contingent of soldiers, approached Mokodo and Haijida.

Had Lu Sheng been present, he would have recognized them instantly:

The two guides who had led the new recruits into the Interdimensional Battlefield—slim and stout respectively.

The moment they laid eyes on Mokodo, their postures stiffened, shrinking inward like quails—humble, deferential, utterly subdued.

To them, Mokodo, as the supreme authority of the entire base and Grand Star Commander of the Hundred Star Regions, loomed as vast and terrifying as a black hole in the cosmos.

As vast, mysterious, and unreachable as a black hole.

That was a terrifying powerhouse of the fourteenth rank.

A supreme figure whose shadow they could not even hope to glimpse in a lifetime of striving.

"Third-rank Star Soldier Wuna greets the Grand Star Marshal. Greetings, Lord Haigida!"

The two guides, a stern middle-aged man and a plump companion, bowed with utmost reverence to Mokeduo and his associate.

One was named Wuna, and the other was Zuo Zhengqi.

Sayan and Dunton stood dazed, mindlessly mimicking their gestures.

"You have done well on this mission."

Mokeduo, in high spirits, immediately offered his commendation to Wuna and his partner.

This caused the two, who had been trembling with trepidation, to now shake with sheer excitement.

The Grand Star Marshal!

A fourteenth-rank Grand Star Marshal...

Had actually praised them with his own lips?!

Good heavens.

How many powerful martial artists of the twelfth or even thirteenth rank across the hundred major star sectors of the alien battlefields could claim to have received personal praise from the Grand Star Marshal?

To think that they would one day be granted such a sublime honor?!

Tears welled up, nearly spilling from their eyes.

"Th-thank you for your commendation, Grand Star Marshal..."

The two stammered, their voices fractured by overwhelming emotion.

Mokeduo showed no surprise at their reaction; he merely smiled, then glanced at Haigida beside him.

Catching the cue, Haigida gestured toward the massive purplish-red light cocoon before them and inquired impassively, "Do you know the identity of the person within this cocoon?"

Wuna and his companion looked at the cocoon, sudden realization dawning upon them.

They exchanged a glance before Wuna, the heavier of the two, nodded with extreme caution. "We do."

Mokeduo's six eyes gleamed slightly, and Haigida pressed further, "Report it."

"Yes."

Wuna nodded, carefully choosing his words before responding, "This person is named Lu Sheng.

He hails from the Yamu Star Sector.

Because he missed the conscription vessel for the Yamu Star Sector, he joined our conscription fleet instead..."

Mokeduo and Haigida listened intently at first.

Yet, after Wuna uttered only a few sentences, both of their brows furrowed almost simultaneously.

Haigida went so far as to cut Wuna off entirely.

"Wait, you say...

This person came with your conscription fleet.

Are you implying...

He is a raw recruit???!"

Wuna looked utterly bewildered, replying with a blank expression, "Did the Grand Star Marshal and Lord Haigida not know?"

"????"

Mokeduo and Haigida exchanged a look.

This time, genuine astonishment rippled through them both.
