Chapter 415: Casual and Effortless, Blitzkrieg

"Boom!"

Slowly rising, the blood from the pool spilled out, igniting a massive, ghostly green flame of sorcery within the crater Wang Yu had smashed with a single punch, reducing everything the legendary mage Satori had left in this world to fine ash, ensuring no hidden traps remained.

"Who are you? Let me die knowing the truth. You were never in the intelligence network—are you an agent sent by another kingdom to declare war on us?"

Alfonso, having swapped places with Satori, swung his fist into empty air, finally realizing the vast, insurmountable gap between himself and Wang Yu; he had no idea how much of this man's true power had even been unleashed.

Satori’s pathetic, senseless death was undoubtedly the result of this legendary knight’s innate talent—a field-type ability that rendered mages and sorcerers incapable of channeling power; it offered no direct boost to combat strength, yet served as an incredibly potent auxiliary skill.

Even the artifact known as the Silent Forest, while suppressing all magic, would strip the user of their own spellcasting abilities, yet this knight had clearly cast spells—including the signature technique of Sharled, the Tarot Arts.

The fact that this suppression of mana and void energy was directional was terrifying; Alfonso dared not imagine its strategic impact on a battlefield. How could a legendary powerhouse with such overwhelming personal and strategic strength be a nobody?

Yet, he had never seen such a figure in the royal intelligence files, and he was desperate to understand why this powerful enemy had targeted them.

"You Alestlers are far too filthy in your dealings. The spark of Sewentan shall not be extinguished."

"What!? You are—?!"

"Bang!"

Alfonso’s analytical skills were indeed sharp, deducing the effect of the Commander’s Throne Silent Hall almost perfectly: within its range, Wang Yu allowed certain existences to cast spells while subjecting others to a terrifying, near-total magical suppression.

Even the legendary mage Satori could not cast normally; the only spell he could barely manage was his own legendary creation—Buried Echo.

Much like the spell Avia created upon reaching the Archmage rank—Perfect Fractal—this was Satori’s masterpiece from his ascension to legend, inscribed into his mana vortex and soul, making its casting instinctive.

That was why Satori could still release it within Wang Yu’s domain, relying solely on the mana stored within his own vortex.

But alas, Wang Yu did not give him the chance to unleash this destructive spell, which relied on synchronizing vibrational frequencies to shatter all matter, and now, he certainly wasn't going to waste time answering questions.

To the kingdom of Alestler, this cryptic reply held a special, ominous meaning; in that instant, Alfonso’s mind raced—a remnant of Sewentan? An undercover agent who hadn't been exposed?

But none of it mattered, for he never once considered the possibility that a monster had spent years cultivating this trembling, godlike power.

His shock and disbelief only served to hasten his demise; before the conversation could conclude, Wang Yu had already taken his next step.

Battle aura erupted, and with the Chariot’s power, he no longer needed to maintain the Silent Hall, allowing every inch of ground to serve as his footing. Stepping through the air in a blur of acceleration, Wang Yu left afterimages in his wake, bearing down on the now-alert Alfonso with terrifying momentum.

"Come—"

The thought barely formed in his mind before Wang Yu was upon him, and Alfonso’s body instinctively executed his final intent, thrusting his legendary weapon—the Earth-Vein Greatsword—directly into the path of the incoming strike.

He no longer intended to survive; his only goal was to land this blow. No matter how strong Wang Yu was, the destructive power this weapon could unleash at close range had a seventy-percent chance of killing him.

The rocky shell encasing the legendary greatsword had fully peeled away, revealing the blade beneath; a dull, earthy glow swirled around it, lending it an immense, crushing weight, as if the very power of the earth itself were bound to the steel.

The Earth-Vein Greatsword, a legendary blade that channeled the power of the land, used its rocky shell as a scabbard to prevent its gravitational pull from destroying the surroundings or the sword itself.

In battle, the scabbard would shed automatically, a process accelerated by attacks, until the weapon’s power was fully unleashed—which was the case now.

"Splice, crack, boom!"

Wang Yu’s speed was beyond the reaction time of a legendary warrior; Alfonso had not even fully registered the approach before he was pierced.

With power and speed combined, the Shattered Meteorite Blade on Wang Yu’s right hand punched through the thick, reinforced breastplate, driving deep into the spine and exiting through the back.

High-energy blood surged into the gap created by the blade, coating Alfonso’s spine and detonating instantly, causing lethal destruction from within his relatively fragile frame.

The internal explosion claimed Alfonso’s life, but the Earth-Vein Greatsword, driven by his final burst of willpower, still thrust toward the point-blank Wang Yu.

The legendary weapon’s power went berserk, linking the isolated area to the earth itself; earth elements and other unseen forces were drawn by invisible chains, converging onto the blade, which now glowed with a blinding yellow light.

The ground beneath and the sword—no longer held by Alfonso—locked their intent onto Wang Yu, invisible forces manifesting as iron shackles that bound his body from every direction.

The power gathering on the blade continued to grow; the earthy glow was no longer mere light, but appeared as solid earth and stone, a radical transformation caused by extreme energy compression.

"Click, click, click, click!"

His knees bent slightly, the immense pressure forcing him into the ground as cracks spiderwebbed outward. Wang Yu glanced at the legendary weapon draining the earth’s power to crush him; it was, indeed, quite powerful.

"Hum!"

Energy reached its limit; the Earth-Vein Greatsword held an incalculable, massive force, and based on Alfonso’s final dying wish, it struck at the "immobile" Wang Yu, who was pinned by the crushing weight.

This energy, sourced from the earth and stored within the blade, was meant to be injected into Wang Yu and detonated, a destructive force that would be a lethal threat even to a legend.

"Tap..."

There was no sound, really; Wang Yu simply raised his right hand, his palm—coated in a faint golden shimmer—blocking the path of the rampaging legendary blade.

The moment they touched, the sword’s power was "nullified"; every force attempting to act upon Wang Yu was blocked. This "Golden Body" hand held the legendary weapon fast, unable to advance or retreat.

The stored energy could not be released, and as a sword, it could not comprehend what was happening—how could a hand that could not be destroyed stop it? It could only continue to attempt its task: accumulate power and strike.

Yet, Wang Yu’s power was unreasonable; if it could not be destroyed, it simply would not be. The Earth-Vein Greatsword could have no effect on him, while the energy within continued to swell until it exceeded the weapon’s structural limits.

Cracks spread and grew; internal energy poured out from the fissures at the tip, the increasingly unstable state turning the greatsword into a terrifying bomb.

"Snap."

With a twist of his wrist, Wang Yu gripped the tip of the blade with his golden hand; the next moment, the energy overloaded, and the legendary greatsword shattered completely.

"Boom!"

A massive amount of energy poured out, but the point of the explosion was contained by Wang Yu’s palm, completely nullified. Aside from the shockwaves leaking through the gaps to crater the ground in the opposite direction, the explosion that should have been cataclysmic vanished into nothingness.

"Clatter, clatter..."

With a casual flick, the shards of the legendary sword fell to the ground; two legends had been killed by Wang Yu, completely crushed.

Crouching down, Wang Yu touched Alfonso’s twisted corpse, and after a massive surge of life force—which meant little to him now—flowed into his body, an object emerged from the remains.

It was a mask, half-crying and half-laughing, a standard theatrical prop, yet exquisitely crafted; the expressions on both halves perfectly conveyed the intended emotions. It was the artifact, the Mask of Hypocrisy.

"An interesting thing."

Picking it up with genuine interest, he claimed ownership, and its effects were revealed to him.

A void rift appeared beside him, and Shar and Avia stepped out. Shar ran to Wang Yu’s side, eyes wide with shock, and began poking him without reservation, muttering as he did.

"By the Goddess of Night, I knew you were strong, but not this strong! You didn't use your full power just now, did you? If you had gone all out, tsk tsk tsk, I dare not imagine."

His tone was filled with nothing but joy and astonishment. The plan had been to goad the royal family into losing patience, sending two legends to hunt him, only for Wang Yu to counter-kill them.

Shar had been slightly worried about whether Wang Yu could pull it off, but now, he was completely at ease; this guy was a monster. As for the void that allowed for normal entry, he simply filed it under the usual shocks Wang Yu provided.

Not clowning around for long, Shar turned serious again. The first phase of the plan was a success; now they had to push forward with Wang Yu as the core combatant. The lockdown of the Night’s Edge headquarters had about fifty minutes left, and they needed to make preparations.

"You must be careful of the astrologer in the royal family. That existence is very strange; she has countless ties to the void and other peculiar things. After you killed several of my brothers and sisters, my power increased significantly, and only then did I see how wrong she truly is."

Shar’s head dipped and rose again; the familiar aura of Wang Yu’s acquaintance appeared—the devil "One" had taken control of the body, relaying the warning.

"The astrologer, Celine?"

Wang Yu remembered her; she had once visited the residence he shared with Avia in the capital, attempting to see through his lies, only to fail and be dismissed. It seemed she was even more extraordinary than he had initially thought.

"Yes, it is she. Her gift of prophecy threatens to unravel our designs, and to prevent her from discerning too much—at least while I remain unable to shroud her perception—every former member of the Night’s Edge must withdraw from the capital and hold position at a vast distance from the royal house."

"Regardless, her existence is an anomaly; I cannot articulate the precise nature of the danger, yet I must warn you to tread with extreme caution."

"The rest remains as we discussed. We require a masterful blitzkrieg, and for that most vital spearhead, I must entrust the task to you."

The devil known as "One," speaking through the vessel of Charles, laid out the subsequent steps for Wang Yu, while Avia had already begun signaling the Night’s Edge members, scattered irregularly across the outskirts of the Alastair capital, via the prayer communication network.

Before the advent of the Nightfall Church, such a scheme would have been impossible; the world’s primitive communications could never support such large-scale dispersal followed by a synchronized convergence, unless the timing were set in stone—but who could predict exactly when the first link of the plan would be forged?

The emergence of the prayer network rendered it all possible. Messages rippled instantly through the web to every prepared operative of the Night’s Edge and the select members of the Nightfall Church whom Wang Yu trusted. With the command issued, all forces—including the legions Edward had already mustered—began their inexorable march toward the capital.

Their arrival times would vary, yet they would form a relentless, flowing tide, arriving in staggered waves without a single lapse, swiftly seizing control of every strategic point in a lightning strike against the throne.

And a blitzkrieg demands an entity capable of shattering pre-established defenses at breakneck speed,

A spearhead of singular sharpness and resolve.

"Leave it to me."

Donning the Mask of Hypocrisy, his features, stature, and aura shifting entirely, Wang Yu replied with steady composure.

"The protagonist is gradually evolving into a truly oppressive monster, isn't he?"
