Chapter 414: Powerful Crushing, Destroyed in One Strike
The high-energy blood within his body detonated completely, a pure shockwave sweeping across the surrounding area. The entire headquarters of the Night’s Edge was leveled by the destructive force Wang Yu unleashed, and the structures nearest to him were pulverized into fine dust.
"Hmm, the moment the alarm sounds, this entire sector is sealed by spatial magic, transporting the Night’s Edge headquarters into an isolated pocket dimension. This ensures the headquarters remains unaffected by external events, keeps internal matters contained, and simultaneously imprisons any potential enemies."
He nodded slightly, his gaze lingering on the spatial boundary of the region, now exposed by the collapse of the Night’s Edge headquarters. As someone who had managed to climb to a relatively high rank within the organization, he possessed a profound understanding of this territory.
They had likely intended to use this mechanism to deal with Shael, bypassing his permissions to activate the spatial lockdown so he would have nowhere to run, allowing two legends to execute him without causing a stir in the outside world.
Now, however, it had become the perfect place for Wang Yu to act without being detected by external entities.
A high-energy overload? Modified. Clearing away all obstacles that obstructed his vision or hindered his mobility, the rhythm of the coming battle officially fell under Wang Yu’s control.
"Boom!"
A scorching fireball streaked in from afar. The heat was so concentrated that it had little to do with flame anymore; it was a crimson energy sphere projecting extreme brilliance, blooming the instant it flew within a certain distance at high speed.
Centered on itself, it erupted into a multitude of crimson energy torrents, carving arc-like trajectories through the air and lashing out at Wang Yu from every direction.
Charging forward, moving in a straight line toward the fiery core that continued to launch these torrents, Wang Yu faced the treacherous, curving beams with rapid movements.
With a fist, a palm, a grab, or a strike, Wang Yu shattered or deflected these searing attacks, which should not have had physical form. Explosions occurred incessantly, yet not a single one could truly touch or harm him.
This was the unique power of a legendary-tier knight: the physical body beginning to influence the surrounding environment, capable of destroying or affecting magic through sheer physical force. Although the principle behind Wang Yu’s actions was slightly different, the effect was exactly what happens when a legendary knight faces a legendary mage—the tier where the strength dynamic between warrior and mage begins to invert.
Battle aura surged, coating his fists as he struck forward, releasing a massive hammer of aura. It tore through the scorching rays in its path and slammed into the fiery core, smashing the thing to pieces. Instantly, the searing beams that had been firing from every angle ceased.
At that very moment, the ground suddenly cracked. A sturdy rock pillar erupted, thrusting violently toward the chest of Wang Yu, who had just released his aura. The speed was astonishing and the force fierce, far more powerful than a standard earth-tier spell from a legendary mage.
He kicked the air, forcing void energy out to form a foothold, allowing him to rotate his body with agility and dodge, narrowly grazing past the rising pillar before grabbing onto it to prepare for his next move.
"Crack!"
The massive rock pillar suddenly shattered at a point just above where Wang Yu stood. From within, Alfonso burst forth, dragging a greatsword entwined with layers of hard rock. His heavy armor was now reinforced with an additional, sturdy layer of dark, solid stone.
"Bang!"
Without mercy, he brought the greatsword crashing down on Wang Yu. At this moment, Alfonso’s body seemed connected to the earth, constantly drawing power into himself. The heavy, incredibly hard rock armor did not hinder him in the slightest; instead, it caused his speed and strength to surge in defiance of all logic.
Crossing his arms, Wang Yu blocked the descending earth-vein greatsword without a hint of fear. The collision produced a massive, heavy roar, and the staggering force shattered Wang Yu’s footing, sending him plummeting from the broken pillar to the ground.
That short distance of acceleration, combined with the augmentation of transcendent power, had brought the greatsword’s strike to an incredible speed. The massive kinetic energy it carried drove Wang Yu several meters into the earth, causing the ground to tremble.
Yet, the face of the legendary warrior Alfonso remained filled with gravity. This guy had taken his full-force strike head-on and was completely unscathed; his crossed arms had truly blocked the blow. Even if he had been driven into the ground, it was only because the environment, reinforced by battle aura, could not withstand such an intense battle.
"Click, click, click..."
"Damn it... what kind of monster is this guy? Satori!"
A teeth-grinding sound of shattering began to emerge. Alfonso’s expression grew even uglier. The guy below was using brute force to adjust his posture; his crossed arms were now pressed against the rock greatsword Alfonso held, and terrifying strength was forcibly stripping away the layer of rock used for reinforcement.
The "Inner Submersion" continued to activate. The earth, connected to his body’s meridians, was constantly exerting pressure on Wang Yu, who was buried beneath the surface. The squeezing force intensified, and sharp earthen spikes sought every opening, but the guy acted as if nothing were wrong. His physical durability was simply inconceivable.
"Understood!"
The legendary mage Satori’s expression was equally grave. He could clearly see that the enemy before them was definitely stronger than Alfonso. At the legendary tier, a knight’s strength was largely determined by physical durability and weaponry.
The legendary weapon in Alfonso’s hand was fearsome, but it required significant time to fully unleash its power. Before those conditions were met, it wasn't a particularly powerful legendary weapon—at best, it was an extremely sturdy greatsword with excellent affinity for Alfonso’s strength.
But fortunately, the opponent was only a legendary knight, and they were a combined team of two professions. The power that two legendary figures of different professions could unleash together was absolutely...
"How is this possible?!"
Satori’s pupils dilated. His figure, which had been rushing toward the battlefield swept up by a storm, stumbled, nearly falling to the ground. It was only his long-honed reflexes and quality that kept him from truly crashing.
Just then, the wind-element movement spell he had been casting abruptly stalled. His mana seemed to have frozen, stuck within his mana circuits. The continuously operating wind spell overloaded and collapsed, and the seventh-tier chaos spell he had been preparing simultaneously suffered a severe disorder. Had it not been for his legendary mage capabilities, the mana backlash alone would have been enough to put Satori in a dire state.
"What is happening? The void energy here, and the mana—why have they fallen into a state of near-total inertia? Whether it’s what I release outside my body or what I try to draw upon, it’s all extremely difficult."
Satori could not understand what was happening. The mana and even the void energy in this area were in a state of lockdown, like solid ice, impossible to mobilize like flowing water.
The culprit, of course, was Wang Yu, still located beneath the earth. He turned his head, his gaze piercing through several meters of rock to lock onto Satori, the legendary mage who had come from a "safe distance" to kill him with the high destructive power unique to mages. The power of the Chariot was acting in its most active state.
Chariot Power Command Throne: Silent Hall. Just as he had used the power of War in the past, Wang Yu had spread his Chariot power throughout the surrounding area, using his strength to grip and lock down all mana and void energy. It was nearly impossible for any existence not permitted by him to mobilize these locked energies.
This was all thanks to the comprehensive upgrade of the Chariot power. Not only had its intensity been greatly enhanced, but its precision and the range of matter it could influence had expanded beyond specifications. Mimicking the effect of the wonder "Silent Forest," Wang Yu had created a zone of magic and void suppression.
Within this range, almost every existence was forcibly pulled into the classification of "warrior," cutting off and sealing the advantage of the diverse methods unique to spellcasting professions.
"Bang!"
With a loud crash, the rock greatsword, with its earth-vein core, was sent flying by a massive force erupting from underground. Even though Alfonso, the legendary knight holding the sword, was greatly amplified by his own "Inner Submersion," he still felt a powerful impact reaching his wrists, forcing him to let go.
"Damn it, Satori, what are you doing? I can't suppress this guy!"
Alfonso cursed. Since stepping into the legendary tier, he had never seen anyone who could crush him in pure strength. Unfortunately, he had to face it today. His battle-hardened mindset prevented him from panicking too much.
But the fact that his companion failed to act during such a perfect opportunity was hard to accept. For a fleeting moment, the thought even crossed his mind that perhaps the Royal Family and Satori had conspired to set him up, to silently eliminate a legend?
"The mana and void energy here are under an extremely rigid lockdown. It’s very difficult for me to cast spells right now, but my legendary spells can still be deployed. Keep him occupied for a moment longer. A legendary spell, or the charging of your weapon—one of the two must be completed."
Satori’s response dispelled Alfonso’s doubts but also gave him a sudden shock. Spells or powers that solidified void energy were relatively common, but it was extremely rare for something to prevent a legendary mage from wielding power. These powerful mages, who possessed such deep understanding and control over mana, were themselves vortices that influenced the flow of mana in their surroundings.
The things he had seen that could affect a legendary mage’s casting were either large-scale magic arrays or the wonder "Silent Forest." The former was not here, and the latter had disappeared somewhere along with the Seovintan army that had been struck by the Destroyer Meteor. Theoretically, the power of a god could do it, but Alfonso had never seen that.
It was impossible to figure out the current situation, and the legendary knight knew he could only continue to fight and wait for the opportunity to kill this monster to appear.
"Crack, bang, bang, bang!"
He slammed his fist, covered in double-layered heavy armor, into the ground. "Inner Submersion" activated, and the sturdy ground, infused with battle aura, pressed in from all sides toward Wang Yu, who was crawling out from beneath the surface.
"Creak!"
Though it was solid ground, it emitted the sound of twisting metal. Facing the encroaching earth, Wang Yu simply spread his arms, muscles bulging and aura flowing, forcibly tearing apart the earth that Alfonso was driving from both sides. Pure violence was displayed to its fullest extent at this moment.
"Haaah!"
A massive figure descended from the sky. The earth provided a powerful dragging force, causing his downward speed to climb rapidly. With the heavy armor combined with his own strength, the power of Alfonso’s strike reached its peak. The brutal slash crashed down, hitting Wang Yu’s position head-on.
"Bang!"
A massive tremor erupted. The destruction carried by the immense force was astonishing. The hideous slash scar on the ground, accompanied by countless fine cracks, extended into the distance. As for the target of the attack, only a giant crater remained where Wang Yu had been.
"Crack, boom!"
However, the breaking sound that followed the next moment declared the result of the strike: it hadn't hit the target at all. Wang Yu was clinging to the body of Alfonso, who was several times larger than him and covered in sturdy armor. His fingers brutally embedded into the solid rock on Alfonso’s chest, tearing away the thick outer shell made of stone before immediately slamming a fist into it.
"Cough, ahhh!"
With monster-like strength, Wang Yu’s heavy punch left a deep indentation on Alfonso’s thick chest armor. Although it didn't completely shatter it, the immense shockwave poured into his body, causing Alfonso’s frame to spasm, his bones to crack, and his internal organs to rupture and bleed.
"Boom! Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!"
Wang Yu’s continuous punches, laden with immense force, hammered against Alfonso’s heavy armor like a relentless storm. Fragments scattered, the armor disintegrated, and Alfonso’s body fell backward uncontrollably. He was pinned beneath Wang Yu, subjected to a frenzied baptism of endless, powerful punches.
"Crack, haaaaaah!"
The heavy shell of rock shattered in an instant, and Alfonso roared as he burst forth, clutching a greatsword in one hand and forming a fist with the other to meet Wang Yu’s relentless, brutal barrage.
Alfonso had realized the flaw in his armor; while it neither hindered his speed nor sluggishly impeded his movements, and even granted a significant boost to his strength, the expanded surface area had rendered the suit a liability.
Clang, clang, clang! Thud, thud, thud!
With absolute focus and a desperate, overdrafted expenditure of his physical reserves, Alfonso’s speed surged for a fleeting moment, allowing him to briefly hold his own against Wang Yu’s onslaught.
The legendary weapon in his left hand possessed astonishing durability, showing no signs of warping or twisting against Wang Yu’s iron fists, and though every collision with his own knuckles erupted in a spray of blood, his iron will refused to let him falter for even a second.
Two titans of legendary constitution clashed in a frenzy of raw power upon the earth; though Wang Yu held the early advantage, he could not seem to finish off the man pinned beneath him.
The legendary blade held by Alfonso began to shed its rocky coating under the weight of Wang Yu’s violent strikes, the stone cracking and flaking away to reveal the true steel hidden beneath.
Hold on a moment longer; once Satori’s legendary spell is prepared, or the ley-line greatsword is ready, the tide will turn.
Wang Yu’s assault was too ferocious, and Alfonso felt his strength waning, reciting the plan in his mind as he squeezed every drop of potential from his body—hold on, he must hold on.
Whoosh!
The rhythm of the punches broke; Wang Yu’s next strike did not fall, but instead, his arm pulled back, carving a sharp wake through the air in a posture of gathering force—a blow meant to shatter all defenses.
Ahhhhhhh!
Alfonso realized the intent instantly, roaring as he pulled back his own right arm; he had to meet this strike, for the consequences of failure were unthinkable.
Two fists, laden with cataclysmic force, were launched in the same heartbeat, hurtling toward one another.
Bang!
The sound was strangely muffled, loud, yet far too hollow—it was merely the sound of a fist striking empty air.
Alfonso froze for a heartbeat; his punch had missed?
And how had he shifted from being pinned to the ground to standing upright? What was happening?
When he looked toward Wang Yu’s position, his pupils contracted violently; there, beneath Wang Yu, lay a pulverized smear of gore, unrecognizable as anything that had once lived, everything buried into a crater by that singular, terrifying blow.
Moments earlier, while locked in the stalemate with Alfonso, Satori had been weaving a legendary spell, nearing its completion.
The instant Wang Yu raised his arm, a void rift materialized, ejecting two tarot cards—one struck the legendary knight Alfonso at point-blank range, while the other passed through a miniature phase-gate spell to strike Satori, who was unable to cast any other defense.
The fist descended, and the tarot cards flared with light.
Spatial displacement activated, swapping the positions of Alfonso and Satori.
Alfonso’s fist struck the empty air, and Wang Yu’s fist obliterated Satori’s head.
