Chapter 500: Clearing the Way in a Straight Line, One Man Standing Guard

At this moment, the force led by Wang Yu had fully penetrated the interior of the Ash Wilds, and the location where Avia sensed the convergence of the Utopia organization’s many wills became increasingly distinct; it was clearly situated at the deepest point of the subterranean space known as the "City of Sin."

Having finalized a contingency plan with the dragons beforehand, the conclusion on how to reach the target once they arrived in the underground region was simple: move in a straight line and charge directly at the objective. After all, following the existing paths of the City of Sin would inevitably lead them into defensive lines pre-established by the Utopia organization.

As for choosing a direct path, the earth itself was little more than paper to powerhouses of Wang Yu’s caliber. With a modicum of spellcasting, their speed of advance would be anything but slow.

"Zzzzt! Zzz-zzzt!"

Several dragons began to channel the vast magical energy within their bodies, tearing open massive spatial rifts in the empty air. Under the manipulation of the draconic spellcasters, these large rifts, glowing with a yellow light, were linked together and expanded outward, forming a circular portal.

From this side, one could vaguely glimpse the scene on the other: a region of the Elemental Plane known as the World’s End, the origin and final resting place of all earth elementals and the habitat of all powerful earthen lifeforms.

The Elemental Covenant was a pact signed long ago between the dragons and the beings of the Elemental Plane, held separately by the patriarchs of each dragon breed. When necessary, it allowed them to command elemental beings whose total power fell within a certain range to fight for them unconditionally.

Aside from the elemental kings who stood at the pinnacle of the plane, their existence akin to "pillars," other elemental beings possessed such singular capabilities that their raw power often fell short of the intelligent lifeforms of the Prime Material Plane.

Thus, to the mighty dragons, these elementals were of little use in most battles. But at this moment, in the field of excavating the earth, the sheer numbers and specialized, singular abilities of the earth elementals became a tremendous advantage.

Summoned by this covenant—which originated from a certain artifact—a vast number of common earth elementals and nearly fifty legendary earth elemental lords emerged from the endless yellow sands of the Elemental Plane, crossing the inter-planar passage to arrive in the material world.

"Carve a path to that location."

Mistryx, the White Dragon Patriarch and holder of the covenant, issued the command to these elementals, whose forms were composed of swirling sand, soil, and rock. Bound by the pact, they immediately began to use their power to break the earth and construct a passage. Due to their nature, they engaged in no dialogue with the dragons, merely opening the route with silent, high-efficiency precision.

"Crackle, crackle, crackle!"

The earth elementals infused their power into the surrounding terrain. Once assimilated, the rock and soil became theirs to command, flowing and being transported to the periphery to be piled up. While the efficiency of a single elemental was not high, the speed at which a force of this magnitude could carve a path could only be described as terrifying.

Not to mention the presence of over fifty legendary earth elemental lords; merely by letting their power radiate naturally, the vast surrounding land was activated, becoming something the elementals could manipulate at will.

The solid earth was transformed into a liquid-like state, and the entire region became an ocean where sand and soil acted as water. These elementals led the dragons through this sea of sand, carving a straight, high-speed path toward the target where no road had existed before.

"We have crossed the physical barrier left by the Utopia organization. I suspect it won't be long before they dispatch members to intercept us. As for the material world, I leave it to you to handle the forces they have pre-positioned here."

Wang Yu leaped from the back of the Silver Dragon Arelian and spoke to the dragons, who were shielded from the "internal combustion" of this place by the power of the Chariot.

"Understood, Mr. Wang Yu. Leave the Utopia members in the material world to us. I will not let these enemies hinder our advance."

Mistryx accepted the task immediately, and the other dragons nodded slightly, signaling that Wang Yu could trust in their strength.

"Good. Within the Void, I will not let any presence from the Utopia organization approach this side until we are sufficiently close to the target."

With a slight nod, Wang Yu stepped into the void rift torn open by Avia, leaving only a small aperture to project a portion of the Chariot’s power to ensure the internal combustion of the Ash Wilds was kept at bay.

"Thud."

As his feet touched the ground formed by his own domain within the Void, Wang Yu’s gaze turned toward a certain direction in the emptiness.

"They are coming."

Avia’s voice appeared beside him. The girl had also climbed to the summit of this domain, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with him. The method of perception she employed allowed her to see much further than Wang Yu could with his naked eyes.

In the region where the Utopia organization's consciousness aggregate resided, a large number of members were riding their towers, advancing in a straight line toward the position of the Nightfall Church.

"Heh, we can't let these fellows get in the way before we reach the target. I’m going in."

Wang Yu had also spotted the massive cluster of towers in the distant Void. It seemed that beneath the Ash Wilds, the Utopia organization indeed possessed more substantial forces in reserve.

The overwhelming momentum they brought, compared to the two figures of Wang Yu and Avia standing in the Void, made the disparity in power seem stark. And indeed, in a sense, Wang Yu possessed even greater combat prowess in the Void than in the material world; tearing these towers apart would be quite easy, but at this quantity... it truly pushed the limits of his current state.

"I am prepared. The Utopia organization has yet to demonstrate the ability to mobilize power truly equivalent to a god. The 'divine phantoms' they construct are merely a specific, unorthodox means of influencing intelligent beings."

Avia leaned forward slightly, placing a small, pitch-black sapling at her feet. She then extended both hands toward the surging enemy horde in the distance. Behind the pair, a towering, pitch-black tree suddenly manifested, its branches shimmering with starlight. The power of the Lady of the Night flowed from the Tree of the Night Sky into Avia.

With the magnificent Tree of the Night Sky serving as their backdrop, the contrast between the Utopia army and the two figures became less lopsided; the battle shifted from two individuals against a legion to two individuals and a goddess against a legion.

"Let's go!"

Fist-bumping the girl, Wang Yu bent his knees and kicked off the ground, his body hurtling toward the legion of Utopia towers with astonishing speed.

"Whoosh!"

Avia raised her arm and swept it forward. The Tree of the Night Sky responded to her will, its towering branches extending wildly in the direction of Wang Yu’s charge, fueled by void energy, forming a path that stretched out beneath his feet.

"Bang!"

With a speed even greater than in the material world, Wang Yu entered the attack range of the Utopia legion in a heartbeat. He kicked off the ground, leaped into the air, and plunged directly into the countless ranks of the enemy.

In the vast expanse of the Void, Wang Yu himself was far too small a target. The attention of the Utopia organization seemed entirely focused on the towering tree behind the pair, and it was not until he was at extremely close range that they successfully locked onto him.

"Boom!"

Intersecting black lines of force erupted from the Utopia towers toward the charging Wang Yu. The straight-line rays distorted midway, curving and coiling in a flexible pursuit of Wang Yu, who had long since moved from their original trajectory.

"Get lost."

He muttered to himself. Facing the destructive void energy beams that circled and tracked him at high speed, Wang Yu swung his fists, wrapped in the power of the Chariot. He collided rapidly with the dense barrage of energy, using his indescribable, rock-solid physique to deflect and strike down every single ray.

Then, relying on his reaction speed, he used the Chariot’s nature—which allowed it to touch anything—to grab a destructive ray that swept past him. Like a gymnast pulling himself up on a horizontal bar, he vaulted upward, stepping continuously onto the pursuing beams, using them as a bizarre, improvised staircase to charge toward the cluster of Utopia towers.

"Hum!"

Several massive deep-purple spheres shifted their shapes, emerging from the gaps between the towers and rushing toward Wang Yu, who was now airborne and lacking a surface to kick off from. The void energy contained within these spheres was even more vast and dense than the rays.

Fearless, and maintaining his momentum, Wang Yu collided directly with the spheres. At the moment of contact, a violent void energy shockwave erupted, producing an effect identical to an explosion in the material world—a powerful, localized destruction.

The deep-purple turbulence of void energy soon dissipated, yet Wang Yu did not emerge unscathed—or rather, his figure had completely vanished. The Utopia towers that had locked onto him lost their target. Could it be...

"Crack!"

As the towers began to assess the status of the entity, the outer wall of one tower was suddenly torn apart by immense force, revealing the internal structure and the Utopia members within. Without them ever having captured his movements, he had suddenly appeared on the surface of one of the towers, his fingers embedded in the wall as he violently ripped away a section.

"So, it is as I thought. The towers truly protect those of you who reside within the Void, which is why the towers in the material world are solid."

Clinging to the tower wall, Wang Yu stared coldly at the Utopia members within the breach. They were clearly still bewildered, but Wang Yu’s next move would soon leave them no time for confusion.

He plunged both hands deep into the tower's interior, the power of the Chariot spreading out to ensure he had a firm grip on the entire structure so it wouldn't fall apart and cause him to lose his hold. Wang Yu then hoisted the tower and smashed it into another one nearby.

"Rumble!"

The two towers collided with a deafening roar. Their sturdy outer structures could not withstand the immense pressure and shattered, sending the Utopia members inside flying from the wreckage, stripped of the power that had previously shielded them.

"Heh, you are all the same."

Deprived of their protection, these Utopia members saw their forms rapidly twist and disintegrate under the erosion of the Void, instantly transforming into mindless void creatures.

In an instant, a massive cluster of void energy began to form above Wang Yu’s head. The vast legion of Utopia towers had realized the threat he posed and immediately gathered their power, preparing to annihilate him.

"Splat!"

A pitch-black blade, unseen by any member of the Utopia organization, descended from the heavens. It pierced the void energy aggregate without the slightest resistance. With a slight press of the blade, it split the mass in two, sending the uncontrolled void energy surging everywhere.

In the distance, the girl had just raised her hands, bringing down a torrent of divine night power.

Two individuals and a goddess stood before the legion of the Utopia organization—an impenetrable wall!
