Chapter 709: Too Scaring for Elves, I Think This Should Be a Horrible Disaster Movie

"Huh... Elder, how did you know there was a trailer for some new movie called 'The Avengers' to watch here?" The elven maiden, Sera, also looked over at this moment.

"You just fiddle with this... Penguin Communication!" Elder Cywie said happily. "The moment the trailer for the new movie came out, it popped up an automatic alert. It's incredibly useful!"

"There's actually something that handy?!" The elven maiden Sera blinked her large, bright eyes. "Where do you get it? Quick, teach me!"

Owner Fang, who happened to be walking past, clutched his forehead and muttered to the system, "...666."

The system remained aloof and did not answer.

...

"Oh wow! Turns out there are actually free features in this shop!" The elven maiden Sera cheered up. "And here I thought the owner only cared about making money! He actually seems like quite a decent person now!"

With that, she also activated this Penguin Communication for free.

Sure enough, she too received a recommendation: 'The Avengers' Trailer.

"Oh~?" Sera hastily clicked it open. Come to think of it, among the movies in the shop, they had only ever heard of 'Resident Evil 2' and hadn't actually watched it yet.

"Hmm...? This architectural style, it feels so similar to 'Resident Evil'..." Sera recognized it the moment she began watching; clearly, no continent in her memory possessed such a style.

"What 'Resident Evil'?" Elder Cywie was utterly bewildered. "What's that?"

"The very first mystic realm in the shop," Sera said. "I saw Miss Helen playing it before, it seemed quite interesting."

"Let me watch this first... 'The Avengers' trailer," Sera continued. "Supposedly, this is some kind of... mystic realm where you can't control your own actions, just like the ancient elven projections left behind in the Elven Royal Court."

"Be careful!" the elven elder Cywie cautioned. "Watch out for the voice of that evil god, those words full of beguilement and corruption."

"I am being careful... Elder," the elven maiden Sera whispered back.

She watched the trailer with utmost caution.

It was as if she feared that even the slightest extra movement might disturb some terribly frightening existence.

In this city constructed entirely of steel and concrete, made up of towering forests of skyscrapers that seemed to reach the heavens, soldiers took step after cautious step forward, appearing to be equally on guard against some demonic entity.

Unlike the original version, the system's version of the movie would completely and utterly reconstruct everything from every step to every single detail, matching the identities and capabilities of the characters perfectly.

Take their appearances, for instance.

When that dark figure holding the scepter lifted his head, that wickedly charming face and those deep eyes that resembled an abyss, even if it was just a fleeting glimpse, struck an unspeakable dread and trepidation deep into one's heart.

Or consider the humans fleeing amidst the destruction; even through the screen, one could feel that profound sense of despair.

"A last stand." By this time, Sera saw that the characters in the trailer had finally sounded the horn of resistance.

"There was an idea, to bring together a group of remarkable people, to see if they could become something more, so when we needed them, they could fight the battles that we never could."

"I think this is definitely going to be good!" Sera excitedly pulled at Elder Cywie's arm. "It's unimaginable, this will surely be a tragic, legendary, and magnificent tale!"

"What are you all watching?" Sera's voice was clearly not quiet, drawing the attention of the other nearby elves.

"We're watching this trailer for 'The Avengers'!" Sera excitedly recommended it to the other few elves. "It seems there's a terribly frightening demon god here who wants to rule humanity."

"You can't even imagine how terrifying that evil god is!" Elder Cywie added. "If you saw him, you would definitely be frightened out of your wits!"

"An evil god...? Is it a malevolent deity?" Upon hearing this, Lorleen, an elf from the Snow Pigeon Squad nearby, nearly shuddered. "H-how can such a terrifying existence even exist?!"

Though they had seen the deities of the 'Eastern Continent' while playing the Legend of the Sword and Fairy, those were still fairly just and lawful. Now, an evil god had actually appeared!?

Like a startled rabbit, she leapt to the side. "I... I don't want to watch this!"

"Ah..." Captain Lancer sighed with deep emotion. "This must be an incredibly grand story, just like those recorded in the epics... No... I can even feel that it might be grander than those epics, because their enemy is actually a god!"

"What are you all discussing?! What god?!" Some surrounding players who hadn't gone to fight the Battle of Southshore heard the increasingly loud discussion over here and looked over as well.

"The Avengers!" Captain Lancer called out loudly. "You'll understand how terrifying that evil god is once you watch it!"

"Ah—!" Lorleen, who was nearby, was already so scared she almost jumped. "Please don't mention such an existence anymore!"

It was as if she was terrified that some evil god might wave his hand and level the entire elven race to the ground.

Anything that could be crowned with that title was entirely comprised of unimaginably horrifying entities!

One had to know that such existences truly existed in this world, which was completely different from the materialism of Fang Qi's previous life, where one never had to worry about a bolt of lightning striking down from above no matter what one said.

Especially...

"That evil god is truly too terrifying! He has a voice that tempts people to fall into the abyss, a sinister and dreadful countenance... and monster-like horns..." As Sera described him, several elves had only just pricked up their ears to listen when they immediately let out a chorus of shrieks, nearly crying from fright on the spot.

Could there really be an evil god this terrifying!?

"I feel this should be a dreadful catastrophe instead," another elf nearby evaluated. "I think what we ought to see is how the humans of this 'Earth' escape from this catastrophe!"

"Can this movie really be watched!?" several elves cried out in alarm.

"Can these people really defeat this evil god?!"

"If they can't defeat him, I'm not watching!" It was simply far too frightening for an elf!

...

World of Warcraft was different from Legend. In Legend, if you died, you only dropped one or two pieces of equipment at most, and you could get right back up to fight. In World of Warcraft, after death, there were only two choices—resurrect at the graveyard while bearing a resurrection sickness debuff that left you completely unable to do anything during its duration, or run back as a ghost to resurrect, only to be killed once more with low health by the players camping your corpse.

And if they camped the graveyard itself, you couldn't even leave with the sickness debuff.

At times like this, you either logged off the game, or you called for backup in the faction channel.

While the elves were continuously discussing matters regarding the trailer for 'The Avengers', at this moment in Southshore...

The state of the war had shifted once again.

Although the mercenary players in half of the town generally lacked top-tier high-level equipment experts, they held the advantage in numbers.

There were truly a massive number of them. Within the entire shop, the largest player demographic consisted of mercenaries. Some of these people played rather intermittently and were not even level thirty yet, but they had all rushed over from nearby towns as well.

Gathering nearly a thousand people, Southshore became a sea of people almost instantly.
