Chapter 742: The Holy Light Is with Us, the Clarion Call of Counterattack! (Asking for Monthly Tickets)
The Demon Sael stared at the scene before him, his mind completely muddled, as if his brain had been poured full of paste. Having lived for so many years, baptized by the fires of countless wars and having encountered all manner of adversaries, he had never once beheld a sight like the one before his eyes.
Nor had he ever witnessed a situation so profoundly bizarre.
It was understandable that some entities possessed a stronger vitality, making them impossible to slay by ordinary means, but this... they were clearly dead through and through!
Even the energy within their bodies had been utterly depleted, their lifeforce overdrawn past its absolute limit.
Yet he actually watched them stand up once more, their bodily conditions undergoing a total recovery.
What made his heart tremble with the greatest terror was that the most valiant god of war of the Orc Kingdom had also stood up.
And beside him, the most elite of the royal guard were also rising, one after another!
"Though I know not what has transpired..." The old Orc King stretched his aching bones, "we are nonetheless deeply grateful to you all."
"If we manage to return alive this time, you shall all be the most honored friends of our Orc Kingdom!" The old orc led the way in performing a formal royal salute.
"Kill! Kill them all for me!" Demon Sael finally snapped out of his shock. There were still about ten thousand members of the Shadow Legion inside and outside the valley, but they were all elites. With his command, they swept forth across the heavens and the earth like a raging tempest!
Within this small valley, the knights, priests, and elves who had arrived first, along with the dozen or so orcs who had only just been resurrected a short moment ago, were instantly surrounded on all sides.
"So what if you can resurrect!?" This terrifying demon was clearly driven to madness by fury, "You are already surrounded. If we could kill you once, we can kill you a second time, a third time... a tenth time, a hundredth time!"
"I believe we are in trouble again, my friends." The old orc gazed at the sky-blotting Shadow Legion before him, his expression grim.
"No, old King." Mr. D likewise bowed to the crowd, "I believe the ones in trouble should be them."
He gestured toward the Shadow Legion that had encircled them.
"Spot on!" the crowd laughed.
"I think you still fail to understand your own current predicament." Boss Fang looked up at the ghost-like demon in the sky and spoke, "It is you who has been surrounded."
"Wh... What!?" It bolted high into the sky, suddenly catching sight of the peaks surrounding the eastern side of the valley. Atop those towering cliffs, several white-robed figures appeared, followed closely by one white-clad assassin figure after another stepping out from the morning mist of the precipice, lining up in a row. Standing tall upon the high peaks, they resembled majestic eagles ready to strike the vast sky!
On the other side, as the crack of a musket echoed across the heavens, a massive army of dwarves stood in battle-readiness upon the western peaks!
Upon the southern peaks stood an elderly elf, leaning on a wooden staff, with countless elite elves arrayed behind him.
Outside the entrance of the northern valley, a blonde youth rushed at the very front—it was none other than Crete of the Great Sword. Behind him were mercenaries hailing from various mercenary groups of the Mercenary Guild!
Although the new shop's development over the past year had been slow, the entire continent was inherently affluent, and the population base was vast. At this moment, the combined forces of dwarves, elves, and humans actually numbered around ten thousand!
This did not even account for the majority of the orcs who were unable to join the battle, as well as some of the elite mages and knights currently engaged on another battlefield.
"My apologies, but the ones surrounded right now should be you," Commander Evan stepped forward and said, "Mr. Sael."
"The counterattack begins, brothers!" A thunderous roar sounded like the horn of the counteroffensive. At this instant, dwarves, elves, assassins, mercenaries, knights, and mages all closed in from every direction of the valley.
Paladins and orc warriors charged at the very forefront, the holy flames of Consecration igniting beneath their feet to light up the earth as the brilliance of Judgment cascaded down.
Toward these paladins, Demon Sael harbored a profound hatred. Those orcs had clearly been dead, yet by their grace, they had been brought back to life once more.
"So you can resurrect, can you?" Beneath his cloak, a sinister sneer surfaced on his face, "Then I shall slaughter you first!"
From behind Demon Sael, the escaping darkness spread like a wing that blotted out the sun, shrouding more than half the sky. Immediately after, everyone only saw a dark shadow slice through the heavens, shooting directly toward Evan, the Commander of the Golden Gryphon Knights.
"Commander!"
Amidst a chorus of startled cries, even though Commander Evan reacted with extreme swiftness and instantly brought his shield before him, it was simply not something a knight of his cultivation level could withstand. With a crisp snap, the giant shield, nearly as tall as a man, was instantly pierced through, followed by a shocking, blood-dripping hole appearing in his chest.
Not only him, but even the Shadow Legion, trees, and rock faces behind him were completely pierced through.
Commander Evan stumbled back two steps and sat powerlessly upon the ground, his mouth overflowing with blood, as if this single strike had drained all the strength from his body.
Demon Sael seemed momentarily surprised that this minor knight had actually survived a strike from him, but he quickly pressed the attack once more!
Before anyone could react, the second strike was already upon them.
With such speed and power, combined with such a chaotic battlefield, absolutely no one could arrive to reinforce him in the blink of an eye.
A crafty smile emerged in Demon Sael's eyes: "Resurrection magic? Let's see if you can resurrect yourselves!"
The black glow was like lightning, tearing through the air with the sound of thunder. This time, it seemed poised to swallow him whole!
"Commander!"
"Commander Evan!"
For a crowd of seventh- and eighth-tier combatants, how could they possibly save someone from the hands of a Saint-tier powerhouse?
And those with the strength to save him were simply too far away.
"Got you!" Demon Sael let out a smug, cold laugh.
But in the next instant...
He suddenly heard a loud shout: "Divine Shield!"
A faint holy light enveloped the man completely. At this moment, that light and shadow, surging like fierce thunder, crashed against the shield of light transformed by the holy power, only to... shatter directly!
Following that, Demon Sael saw this knight sitting on the ground, his movements as slow as an old man's due to his heavy injuries, as a white-gold radiance coalesced between his palms, gathering toward his wound.
"Magic Pierce!" Demon Sael roared in fury as another streak of black light shot forth.
"Flash of Light, Flash of Light, Flash of Light..." The paladin, encased within his divine shield, let the storm rage outside while focusing entirely on casting his healing spells.
The injuries healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Ten seconds later, the wounds were completely restored. Commander Evan looked at Sael, who had unleashed hundreds of "Magic Pierces" over those ten seconds, shaving down the surrounding ground by several meters. Solemnly and majestically, the commander declared: "The Holy Light is with me!"
...
"Roar——!" He was driven mad.
He roared frantically, making no attempt to conceal his rage. Just then, a great sword cleaved downward with a force that seemed capable of splitting the heavens.
"Your opponent is me!" the old Orc King bellowed.
Boom!
A colossal fireball descended like a meteor, blasting the terrifying demon completely off his feet.
"And this old man." The Grand Elder of the Elves flew forward from behind him.
"I think what you should consider now is how to escape." The old orc grinned, "You're finished, dark-faced freak!"
