Chapter 336: Zuo Wang Dao

Chapter 336: The Way of Forgetfulness

“Clang!” The sound of metal striking stone rang out as Li Huowang’s purple-sheathed sword crashed against Hongda’s rusted blade.

With a crackling sound, the rusted blade shattered into pieces. The fragments spun around, their edges now pointing toward Li Huowang's face like deadly arrows.

Faced with such a lethal attack, Li Huowang made no move to defend himself. His right hand gripped the hilt tightly and he suddenly unleashed all his strength, aiming to trade his life for one blow that would sever Hongda’s head.

Just then, a gust of wind swept over him. Xinchi had already arrived. With his massive right foot raised high, he slammed it down toward Li Huowang.

In that split second, a shadow darted from beneath Li Huowang’s robe—his younger brother Li Sui’s tentacle, which had emerged to warn him of the sneak attack.

Li Sui was a dual-use asset, fighting alongside Li Huowang in two bodies. For a short while, he held his own against both opponents without falling behind.

But they were three men, and one body wasn’t enough.

With a dull thud, Li Huowang spat out a mouthful of blood, his body slammed into the rubble, sending up clouds of dust.

As he staggered to his feet, feeling his organs nearly displaced by the impact, he found himself once again surrounded by the three men.

At this moment, Tuoba Danqing—who had just attacked him—spoke up: “Don’t hit his back. That man is wearing armor under his robes—it’s tough.”

Li Huowang swallowed the blood in his throat and shouted angrily at Tuoba Danqing: “Tuoba Brother! Look at these tentacles on my body! Ask yourself honestly—can someone like me really be a fake of the Way of Forgetfulness?”

Tuoba Danqing looked at the black, slimy tentacles wrapped around the copper coin sword inside Li Huowang’s belly, his eyes flickering with hesitation.

After a brief pause, however, he turned to Hongda and said, “Lend me a blade.”

Dressed like a beggar, Hongda opened his clothes and picked out the longest knife from among the gleaming blades, tossing it to him.

Clearly distrustful of Li Huowang, there was nothing more to say.

“What are you talking about? Kill them all! Kill! Kill! Kill!!” A domineering female voice roared through the air.

As heat surged into Li Huowang’s head, he stamped his feet hard on the ground and charged toward Tuoba Danqing, who was preparing to catch the blade.

If he couldn’t be cornered, he must break the circle first. Tuoba Danqing, who hadn’t yet drawn a weapon, was the weakest link!

Xinchi, still nearby, tried to rush in to help. But Li Huowang, his eyes red with rage, raised his purple-sheathed sword and plunged it into his own mouth, slicing across his jaw. Half of his upper lip and teeth came off in one violent motion.

From the torn side of his face, Li Huowang’s bloody, mangled mouth was exposed.

Taking a deep breath, he spat out the bloodied teeth, which flew like fallen petals toward Xinchi.

Using his teeth to repel Xinchi, Li Huowang raised his purple-sheathed sword and Li Sui’s copper coin sword, slashing straight at Tuoba Danqing.

Tuoba Danqing crossed his arms and blocked the strike. The silk on his arms tore apart, revealing a string of bright red walnuts underneath.

With an ear-piercing screech, Li Huowang’s sword struck the walnuts.

To everyone’s surprise, the sword that could cut through iron like butter was actually stuck by the walnuts. This was no ordinary item.

The walnut string trembled slightly, as if something was hidden within it. Dozens of venomous glances shot out, aiming straight for Li Huowang’s head.

“Don’t get close to him! He raises insects!” Hongzhong, who had been silent for so long, suddenly appeared and warned Li Huowang.

At this critical moment, Li Huowang muttered inwardly: “Li Sui, act!”

The black tentacle wrapped around the copper coin sword lunged straight for the open chest of the opponent.

“Clang!” The sword stopped mid-swing, unable to pierce through.

The fabric ripped apart, revealing a golden chain amulet before Li Huowang.

Just as the standoff reached its peak, Li Huowang’s ears twitched—he heard the rumble of Xinchi charging from behind.

“Hahaha, Way of Forgetfulness, how do you like that? Didn’t expect it, did you?”

Looking at Tuoba Danqing’s smug face, Li Huowang opened his mouth and spat out the two remaining teeth he had kept.

The hard teeth exploded instantly, showering Tuoba Danqing with splintered shards and blood.

“AAAAAAHHHH!!!”

He kicked him in the chest, finally breaking free from the encirclement.

Just as he exhaled in relief and stepped away from the collapsed temple, he ran straight into someone—another Li Huowang.

Both Li Huowangs froze for a moment, staring at each other.

"Erjiu! Kill the one in front of you! That’s a fake of the Way of Forgetfulness!"

Upon hearing this, the Li Huowang in front showed extreme disgust. Drawing his copper coin sword, he lunged forward with a vicious expression.

"The Way of Forgetfulness! You bastards dare impersonate me?! Die!!"

Suddenly freed from danger, Li Huowang found himself caught between two enemies once more.

Xinchi charged in, his giant foot descending like a mountain crushing everything in its path.

Yet strangely, the Li Huowang standing still simply passed through the foot and reappeared.

For a moment, Xinchi paused, and the Li Huowang beneath his foot slowly sank into the earth.

It was just an illusion. The real Li Huowang had already vanished without a trace.

Now hiding on the rafters of a nearby temple, Li Huowang stared coldly at the four figures where he had stood moments before.

Damn it! The Way of Forgetfulness can even use earth-shattering techniques! he muttered in frustration.

At that moment, Xinchi, eyes alert, walked closer. Looking at the Li Huowang before him, he spoke aloud, his voice echoing in the ears of the others.

"Beware, this man is the Way of Forgetfulness!"

His words caused the others to freeze. The Li Huowang standing there widened his eyes.

“Master Xinchi, what do you mean? If I’m the Way of Forgetfulness, then the one who just attacked me must be real. If he’s real, why are you accusing him?”

“So you’re going to kill both the real and the fake? I just said one thing to you, and you're so petty? Are you even capable? Could it be... you’ve mistaken him again?”

The “Li Huowang” took a step back, eyeing Xinchi warily.

This caused Tuoba Danqing and Hongda, who had just begun to move, to stop and turn their gaze toward Xinchi.

Xinchi’s face changed. He seemed uncertain how to explain.

On the rafter, Li Huowang sneered. He never expected that his mortal enemy, the Way of Forgetfulness, would one day actually help him.
