Chapter 722: Fifth Sister

Chapter 722: Fifth Sister

Inside the overturned sports car, Li Huowang remained trapped, unable to move.

As he watched figures approaching from afar, his heart raced with urgency. He had to get out now—right now, he was nothing more than a helpless lamb to be slaughtered.

"Break through!"

After several brutal blows, when the skull of Li Huowang, now exposed, crashed once again against the glass, the blood-soaked head burst through the window, eyes glaring fiercely at the two men wielding tools.

Startled by this grotesque sight, the two men recoiled in terror. "Oh my God! It's a sports car!! Run! We can't afford to carry this kind of cargo for a lifetime!"

"I told you not to take this road, not to take this road! For a few bucks in tolls, you insisted on going this way!"

"Shut up and get in the car! There are no cameras here! They won’t find us!"

In the midst of their escape, Li Huowang had already crawled out of the car, gritting his teeth as he charged toward the truck.

He had been beaten so badly, and they thought they could just run away? Not that easy!

The truck started up, and Li Huowang brandished the dagger from his pocket, rushing to the front of the vehicle.

Li Huowang climbed up the ladder on the hood, grabbed the rearview mirror, and slashed at the windshield with one swift strike, leaving a shallow scratch. “Get out!”

When the bloodied, swollen head of Li Huowang poked out from under the window, the two in the cabin screamed in fright and slammed the accelerator.

With tremendous force, the rearview mirror Li Huowang held onto tore free. Without a secure grip, he rolled under the wheels.

Just as he hit the ground, his body tensed, and he rolled away from the massive wheel. In the next instant, he exerted all his strength, driving the blade into the tire.

“Clang!” The impact shattered the tip of the dagger, and Li Huowang’s wrist twisted painfully, but a long gash appeared on the tire.

By the time Li Huowang struggled to his feet, the truck was already a distant red blur.

“Previously, it was just kidnapping and surveillance—Wang Wei had only used rope! Now they’ve resorted to ramming us with a truck!”

As the taillights disappeared from view, Li Huowang’s expression darkened further.

If not for his keen senses, that last blow might have sent them all to the grave! Their actions were becoming increasingly reckless. He needed to retaliate quickly—he couldn’t hesitate any longer.

“It’s okay, I’ve recorded everything. They’re fleeing the scene, fully responsible.” Qing Wanglai paused the video on his phone.

“How did you get out?” Li Huowang asked.

Qing Wanglai raised the safety hammer in his hand.

Even turning off the phone wasn’t enough—they could still track them through other means. That’s why they sent people to ambush them!

“Let’s not talk about that now. Your head wound is more urgent.” Qing Wanglai took off his shirt and covered Li Huowang’s wound. Soon, the white shirt was soaked with blood.

“It’s fine, just a minor injury. Let’s go—we need to regroup first. I’m worried about the others.”

“A minor injury? Are you joking? Don’t move. I’ll call someone.” Qing Wanglai pulled out his phone and dialed quickly.

“Are you okay, Nana?” Li Huowang looked down at Yang Na, who was now teary-eyed, looking at him with deep concern.

Qing Wanglai’s friend arrived faster than expected—a battered RV pulled up ahead.

A cheerful woman with a blue headscarf, braided hair, and eyebrow piercings stuck her head out of the window. “Junior Brother! What happened? Did you crash?”

“What did I tell you earlier? This car may be fast, but compared to my three-hand-used RV, it’s nothing!”

“Fifth Sister, stop being sarcastic. Can’t you see there’s an injured person here?”

Qing Wanglai and Yang Na helped Li Huowang, who had lost too much blood, walk toward the RV. Though small, the interior was cozy and warmly arranged.

This woman called Fifth Sister quickly pulled out a medical kit, expertly cleaning, stitching, and bandaging Li Huowang’s wounds. She then used a wooden splint to immobilize his severed hand.

After a series of smooth, practiced movements, she even pulled out a syringe and injected him twice.

“Young people are lucky—full of fire. Looks like no blood transfusion is needed. Just a little early donation.” With her colorful nails, she patted Li Huowang’s shoulder.

“Thank you, Fifth Sister.” Li Huowang stood up immediately, ready to leave the RV.

“Where are you going?” Qing Wanglai asked, sitting down.

“Since the injury is treated, I should join the others.” Li Huowang replied matter-of-factly.

Qing Wanglai pointed to the woman drinking water nearby. “She’s one of the eight. We can ride with her.”

“You’re Li Huowang? I’m Wu Qi, nice to meet you.” Wu Qi shook Li Huowang’s good hand, then pulled back the curtain to enter the driver’s compartment.

“She’s one of them?” Li Huowang looked at her broad shoulders. This woman in her twenties looked remarkably composed, not at all mentally unstable.

“Fifth Sister, thank you so much for helping us. You stopped the bleeding so quickly—it’s amazing,” Yang Na said, walking over to express her gratitude to the one pressing the clutch.

“It’s nothing, just a small issue. Back when I was in emergency medicine, I’ve seen injuries far worse than this. I’ve been pulled back from the brink countless times.”

Yang Na glanced at Li Huowang and asked, “Did you work in a hospital before?”

At the mention of this topic, Wu Qi perked up. “Yes, there’s a saying: ‘If you persuade someone to study medicine, heaven will strike them with lightning.’ It’s absolutely true.”

“Always busy, stressed out, low pay, little rest. I don’t know why I ever chose this path. When things go wrong, you lose multiple people in front of you every day. The negativity is overwhelming.”

Li Huowang’s gaze drifted to the RV’s decorations. On the refrigerator on the left, magnetic strips held several travel photos. Among them, the most prominent was a photo with the Leshan Giant Buddha. A long string of prayer beads hung on the wall beside it.

While Li Huowang observed the layout of the RV, the conversation ahead continued.

“One day, I realized I was so busy that my period was almost gone. Then I asked myself—what is life really for?”

“A human life is only decades. Is it all worth it to chase those red bills until we die?”

“Then I finally understood. I had an epiphany, you know? From then on, I decided to live for myself. Do what makes me happy. Houses, cars, money, they’re all nonsense!”

“Since then, I truly understand what it means to be free of attachments. No more restrictions—now I’m much more at ease.”

“Sister, you should try it too. Really, living like that is the only real way to live.”
