Chapter 941: Explanation
Chapter 941: Explanation
"I say, if you two want to bill and coo, shouldn't you at least find some privacy?" Wu Qi, sitting to the side with a bowl and spoon, looked with a touch of disgust at Li Huowang and Yang Na, who were locked in a tight embrace on the bed.
Clearly, she had been sitting there the whole time; it was just that Li Huowang’s attention had been entirely fixed on Yang Na, leaving him completely oblivious to her presence.
"Fifth Sister, thank you for looking after me all these days. It’s been hard on you."
Having said this, Yang Na immediately noticed the change in Li Huowang’s body. "Huowang, what happened to your eye? Why is one missing? What on earth happened?"
Li Huowang sniffled, swept Yang Na up in a bridal carry, and headed toward the door. "Nana, don't rush. A lot has happened, and I will explain it all to you slowly."
As Li Huowang carried Yang Na out of the room, he ran straight into Qing Wanglai.
"Oh? Li Huowang, you’ve actually come out. Congratulations; I was just trying to figure out a way to rescue you."
Li Huowang looked at that trademark smile on his face, spat the word "useless" through gritted teeth, and ignored him, heading for the ladder to the third floor.
He always acted so high and mighty, yet when the critical moment arrived, he was nowhere to be found. After everything that had transpired, Li Huowang realized he had vastly overestimated Qing Wanglai.
Li Huowang held Yang Na close as they sat on the sofa, whispering into her ear, recounting every detail of what he had endured.
Yang Na clearly struggled to grasp it; these events were all compressed into a single point, far too chaotic and complex.
But Li Huowang didn't need her to understand; he only wanted her to respond to him, to keep repeating that she was truly not dead.
Just as he finished, the screech of tires echoed from outside—Zhao Shuangdian had arrived.
Walking into the room, Zhao Shuangdian gave Qing Wanglai a brief nod before stepping directly in front of Li Huowang, asking with grave seriousness, "Why do you think my line of reasoning was wrong? And this topology you mentioned—is it point-set topology or algebraic topology?"
Li Huowang frowned; how would he know which one it was? He didn't even know what topology was.
When Yang Na saw the expression on his face, her familiarity with him told her exactly what he was thinking, and she softly helped explain, "Huowang, topology is a branch of mathematics that studies the properties of geometric figures or spaces that remain unchanged after continuous deformation."
"No, no." Li Huowang shook his head repeatedly, set Yang Na down, and stood up. "That’s part of her worldview; I have no need or interest in understanding it. Let her calculate it herself."
He turned to face all the Siling present, deliberated for a few seconds, and spoke: "You’re all here, then. As it happens, I have an announcement to make: we have just won a great battle, a resounding victory!"
Everyone stared at Li Huowang in astonishment, their expressions shifting in varied ways at his declaration.
Ba Nanxu, chewing on something, walked behind Zhao Shuangdian and lowered her voice. "I think we should just send him back."
"I know you don't understand me, but once you hear my explanation, you will know exactly what has happened." Li Huowang began to recount the tale for them.
Clearly, the others remained skeptical, but as Li Huowang laid out the cause and effect of the situation, the attitudes of Qing Wanglai and Zhao Shuangdian grew noticeably more serious.
Regardless of what details or evidence they gleaned from his words, they believed him.
"Li Huowang, you said we went to the sea to reach the other elephant to deal with the Siling, right? What exactly did that Siling’s projection look like? Could you provide some further details?" Qing Wanglai asked.
"That Siling’s projection? That’s simple. That Siling’s projection was... that Siling’s projection was...!" Li Huowang froze. He clearly had the memory of battling the Siling in his mind, yet the creature's appearance had vanished, gone without a trace.
Everywhere it had existed was now replaced by a vast, white void.
"Li Huowang, this won't do. How can you make up lies on the spot?"
"No! There is definitely something wrong. Everyone, be quiet! Let me think!" Li Huowang, veins bulging, clawed at his scalp and paced back and forth in the hall.
Quickly comparing the previous factory incident with this one, Li Huowang finally cast his gaze toward Yang Na, who was huddled on the sofa, hugging her knees.
"I understand! That Siling disappeared completely—even from my memory—because it is truly, utterly dead! I think I’ve found the pattern!"
"Killing them isn't just about destroying the physical body; it includes all records and memories. Not just the ones in your minds, but everything! We must bring death with us if we are to truly kill them!"
Thinking of this, Li Huowang recalled the memories of the factory, his expression turning grave. "The Siling that projected into the factory didn't die; it was only injured!"
"Why do you think that?"
"Because it still exists in my mind! As long as it exists anywhere, it proves that Siling is not dead!"
Li Huowang walked back to Yang Na, reached out to stroke her hair, and looked at her face with a complex expression.
Because of what happened before, he had just decided in his heart that he would never let Yang Na help again.
But now it seemed that to deal with those strange, deathless existences, Yang Na had to be present. Only by possessing death could they truly destroy them.
"Pfft." A muffled giggle suddenly sounded.
Li Huowang whipped around, glaring at the source: Ba Nanxu. He slammed his hand onto the table. "Everything I said is true! Don't push your luck! If you don't want to understand the truth, that's fine, but don't stop others from understanding it!"
Just as the atmosphere grew tense, the door was pushed open, and a young girl holding an umbrella walked in. "Sorry, I’m late. What is the urgent matter you called us here for?"
The woman wore a light yellow, elegant dress, her dark hair cascading like a waterfall, her plain face wearing a faint, serene smile. She looked to be about twenty years old.
Li Huowang was certain he had never seen her before, not in his past recollections, nor the ones before that.
Yet, to his shock, the others showed no surprise at all, as if they had known her for a long time.
"Wait, an umbrella?" Li Huowang fixed his gaze on the parasol she carried. He had seen this exact umbrella before!
When he was back in the residential complex, one of the people monitoring him had carried this very umbrella. This woman was one of them!
Facing the constant attacks from his side, the counterattack from the other elephant had already begun!
