Chapter 268: Keeping a Low Profile in the Elemental Tower and Still Encountering Undead

Chapter 268 Lying Low in the Element Tower, One Can Still Encounter the Undead

Li Wei successfully secured the privilege of non-participation in combat by joining the Truth Hall's important spell deduction project.

According to Hobbes, it was the Vice Master of the Truth Hall who personally went to explain things to the elders.

Li Wei was deeply grateful for this.

"If one day I can meet the Vice Master, I will definitely thank him in person," Li Wei said.

Hobbes smiled and said, "There will be a chance; the Vice Master is very busy now, but there should be an opportunity to meet you in some time."

"By the way, you have just joined the research on the Sunflare Project; do not rush, first understand the specific details of the project."

"The Sunflare Project is very different from the first and second-order spell model deductions, but your spell deduction ability can still be of great help."

Li Wei nodded, "Mm, I understand."

The Sunflare Project is one of the Truth Hall's important research endeavors.

It seems to involve forbidden spells.

Li Wei was not yet quite clear on the specific details.

He had only just joined the project research group and had not yet understood it in detail.

Those capable of participating in the Sunflare Project research are all top scholars within the Truth Hall.

Hobbes's research group was completely insignificant in front of masters of such caliber.

Li Wei was only barely allowed to join the Sunflare Project research group because of the astonishing spell deduction ability he had displayed.

He was merely responsible for the deduction of partial spell circuits.

The overall content of the Sunflare Project was not disclosed to Li Wei.

This was sufficient.

Li Wei merely wanted to find a reason to stay within the Element Tower.

Whether he truly participated in the Sunflare Project research, he did not care much about.

Hobbes brought Li Wei to the outside of the Sunflare Project research room.

"I will not go further ahead; you go in alone."

"Alright, thank you."

Li Wei pushed open the great door and walked into the research room.

The research room was vast, holding a universe within its confines.

Li Wei felt the magical fluctuations around him before realizing that inside the door lay a magical hall.

The Sunflare Research Room was indeed worthy of being the highest-level research group.

They actually used a magical hall directly as their base.

After seeing the things inside, Li Wei also understood why they wanted to use a magical hall.

Because the thing they were researching was too large.

Suspended in the center of the magical hall was an immensely large multi-layered ring structure.

Dozens of layers of bronze-colored rings filled with silver patterns were inlaid together, forming a huge sphere.

Every layer of rings was rotating.

In the center of the sphere was a beam of white light, impossible to look at directly.

That was the "Sunflare".

Li Wei's arrival did not attract anyone's attention.

Everyone was immersed in their own research and thinking.

A middle-aged man wearing white robes walked over, extending his hand and saying, "Welcome to the Sunflare Research Group."

"My name is Fionrides, currently the main person in charge of the Sunflare Research Group."

Li Wei shook his hand and introduced himself, "My name is Li Wei, specializing in spell model deduction."

Fionrides said, "I have seen your files; for a newcomer who just arrived at the Element Tower to have the chance to come to the Sunflare Research Group is truly rare."

"If I had not seen the few spells you deduced, I would not have agreed to let you in."

Hearing this, Li Wei revealed a trace of embarrassment.

Fionrides patted his shoulder and said, "Do not worry; since I chose you, I believe in your ability."

"You have just come to the Sunflare Research Group and are not yet familiar with everything here; start by understanding our research content from the materials."

"Mm, alright." Li Wei nodded in response.

Fionrides brought Li Wei to a room, inside which were piled various materials.

He pulled out a bookshelf.

"After reading these materials, you should have a clear understanding of what we are doing."

"Take your time reading slowly; ask me if there are places you do not understand."

"No need to rush; if you can participate in the research within three months, that would be considered fast."

Hearing this, Li Wei looked toward the bookshelf, the corner of his eye twitching.

What exactly is the Sunflare Project?

Just the background research materials were this many. They filled an entire bookshelf.

This did not even count the research results of the Sunflare Project research group from nearly ten years.

The research results were on several bookshelves nearby, also all filled up.

Li Wei asked curiously, "What exactly is Sunflare?"

Fionrides said, "A phenomenon, or one could say, a kind of power."

"It cannot be explained clearly in a few words; read the books first, and you will understand after reading them."

Li Wei nodded, "Alright."

Fionrides left the room, leaving Li Wei alone in the room.

Li Wei casually picked up one and began reading.

"The Origin of the Sun"

Spending a whole morning reading "The Origin of the Sun," Li Wei did not see any content related to Sunflare.

He glanced at the hundreds upon thousands of books on the bookshelf.

He put the book in his hand back.

"Take it slow, no rush; Fionrides only hopes I can participate in the project research after three months."

"There is still plenty of time."

Li Wei took the books out from the bookshelf, flipping pages rapidly.

Thus was the content of the books recorded within the dreamscape.

That night, when Li Wei departed the research laboratory.

Inside the research room, nothing had changed.

Li Wei returned to the manor.

Cultivating spells within the dream, reading the foundational background of the Sunflare Project when fatigue set in.

Hoo!

The Shadow Servant appeared before Li Wei, its figure becoming more substantial and sturdy.

Li Wei set down the book in his hand, lifting his gaze to the Shadow Servant.

"Third Tier, High Stage?"

The Shadow Servant nodded.

"Then let us continue hunting Nightmares."

Li Wei took the Shadow Servant and left the safe house.

He wished to cultivate the Shadow Servant, at least up to the Fourth Tier.

Otherwise, the Shadow Servant could not play a significant role.

As the enemies Li Wei encountered grew increasingly powerful.

Often the Shadow Servant was merely doing odd jobs, struggling to provide assistance in combat.

With Diana attending to daily life, there were even fewer places for the Shadow Servant to be useful.

Li Wei took the Shadow Servant to hunt Nightmares within the dreamscape.

Having just resolved a Nightmare, the Shadow Servant was devouring its core.

Li Wei heard hoofbeats coming from the street outside, a strange expression crossing his face.

He opened the window and looked outward.

A black figure came into view, Li Wei froze in place.

"A Nightmare? Or a Death Knight?"

A Death Knight walked upon the street.

For a moment Li Wei could not distinguish, was this Death Knight before him transformed from a Nightmare, or was it real?

The Death Knight spotted Li Wei, charging directly toward him.

Boom!

The house collapsed, the Death Knight's attack missing its mark.

The Death Knight emerged from the ruins, looking upward.

Li Wei stood in midair.

He looked down at the Death Knight, confirming the one before him was a genuine Death Knight.

Not transformed from a Nightmare.

Li Wei felt it was quite strange.

Why would a Death Knight appear within a dream?

Could it be that Death Knights also dream?

Clomp clomp clomp!

The warhorse beneath the Death Knight soared into the air.

The warhorse trampled the air, leaving behind clusters of blue flame in midair, charging straight toward Li Wei.
