Chapter 329: Overestimating One's Abilities

Chapter 329: Overestimating One's Strength

"Please step down from the carriage, Lady Rose, and return with us to Flower City."

"The Kin of Hundred Flowers belong to Flower City."

The knight captain said, standing on his horse before the carriage.

All the Sword Servants of Flower City surrounding the carriage showed expressions of alertness.

The enemy had immediately surrounded the carriage upon arrival, their momentum fierce.

Evelyn stepped out of the carriage, looking coldly at the knight captain, saying, "Odelin, you may return; I will not go back until I find the Lord Mayor."

Knight Captain Odelin said, "The Lord Mayor awaits you within Flower City."

Evelyn sneered, "What you speak of is a fake; can you not even recognize who was once the one to give you a chance?"

Odelin spoke in a deep voice, "Lord Mayor Kira is the Lord Mayor recognized by everyone in Flower City."

"Alice has long been dead; do not remain obsessed with the past," Odelin shouted loudly.

Alice was the former Lord Mayor of Flower City.

She was also the old Lord Mayor to whom the Four Kin of Hundred Flowers pledged loyalty.

Evelyn looked at him coldly, sneering, "So that's why I didn't see earlier that you were an ungrateful dog."

"If it weren't for Her Excellency the Lord Mayor taking you back to Flower City back then, you would have long been eaten by monsters in the wild, leaving not even bones behind."

Odelin was unwilling to bring up matters of the past.

He drew his sword, saying, "I request Lady Rose to return with me to Flower City; if you are unwilling to cooperate, I shall be forced to use force."

"Heh, who gave you the confidence to say such things in my presence?"

Evelyn looked at Odelin, placing absolutely no value on him.

Odelin said nothing, waving the sword in his hand.

The knights around drew their swords, preparing for battle.

Odelin pulled a magic scroll from his bosom.

Rrrrip!

Tearing open the magic scroll, a cloud of fire enveloped the entire scene.

Evelyn's expression changed slightly.

The fire cloud would not harm anyone; its sole purpose was to suppress her flower spells.

The power of the flower spells was greatly diminished within the fire cloud.

"Attack!"

Knight Captain Odelin waved his sword, giving the order loudly.

Everyone rushed towards the carriage.

Clang clang clang!]

The Sword Servants of Flower City clashed with the knights.

The Sword Servants of Flower City were all agile attack-type professionals; dealing with knights wrapped in iron armor with extremely high defense, they quickly fell into a disadvantageous position.

Unable to break through the knights' defenses.

The attacks of the Sword Servants of Flower City appeared very powerless.

"Thorns!"

Evelyn cast a spell.

A large quantity of thorns appeared out of thin air, wrapping around the surrounding knights.

Restricting the movement capabilities of everyone.

She did not deal lethal blows.

After all, these knights were all living forces of Flower City.

Destroying the knight corps would mean heavy losses when she eventually finds Alice and retakes Flower City.

Hiss hiss hiss!

The thorn vines burned within the fire cloud.

Becoming fragile.

With a strong chop, the knights easily broke free from the thorn vines trapping them.

Odelin led several people rushing toward Evelyn.

The leader of the Sword Servants of Flower City, Sakura, met them head-on, her exquisite swordsmanship halting the steps of several men beside Odelin.

Under the cover of his teammates, Odelin rushed to stand before Evelyn.

"Charge!"

Without hesitation, Odelin activated one of the knights' strongest skills.

Clomp clomp clomp!

The warhorse beneath him neighed, galloping in great strides, speed increasing rapidly.

Martial energy condensed into a massive spearhead, thrusting toward Evelyn.

Evelyn's eyes narrowed, and a large number of petals materialized before her to form a shield.

The petals burned within the fire cloud, becoming fragile.

Boom!

The martial energy lance pierced through the petal shield.

Closing in on Evelyn.

Evelyn extended her hand, and a multitude of rose vines surged forth from her side.

The rose vines, bearing thorns, wrapped around the martial energy lance.

Before being completely consumed by the fire cloud, they crushed the martial energy lance.

Odelin also appeared before Evelyn.

He swung his arm vigorously, bringing the knight's sword down to strike her head.

Shattering a vast expanse of rose vines that had already burned and turned brittle in the flames.

Evelyn raised her hand and waved.

A large amount of hypnotic pollen flew out.

Yet it burned into ash halfway through the air.

Odelin shouted loudly, "Cease your struggle; this is a magic scroll crafted specifically to counter your abilities; under the suppression of the Fire Cloud Formation, none of your powers can manifest their strength."

"Surrender properly and follow me back to Flower City."

Evelyn smiled, "You underestimate me far too much, and you also underestimate the power of the Kin of Hundred Flowers."

Her figure rose slowly.

Beneath her feet unfurled a crimson rose of blazing fire.

A rose flower burning with flames.

Aldin's expression turned to shock.

"This is impossible!"

"Blazing Bloom."

The fiery rose beneath Evelyn's feet expanded rapidly, swallowing Aldin's form in an instant.

"Ah!"

Aldin swung his longsword, activating the Great Knight's fourth-tier supernatural trait, Indestructible, attempting to withstand the fiery rose.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

The flames burned fiercely.

A silhouette stood within the fire, steam rising from his entire body.

Aldin had survived.

It was not that he had blocked the fiery rose.

Simply that Evelyn had shown mercy and spared his life.

Li Wei watched the battle outside, casually waving his hand through the air.

The Flame Domain unfolded.

The Fire Cloud Array instantly became his home turf.

Under his control, the knights within the Fire Cloud Array were like meat being stewed inside iron cauldrons.

All of them were scalded beyond endurance.

Some actively removed their sturdy armor.

They inadvertently discovered that only the armor was scorching.

With Li Wei's help, the Flower Swordsmen, originally at a disadvantage, soon forced the numerous knights off their horses.

The battle ended, and all knights were captured.

Aldin's helmet had also been removed; he stood amidst the crowd looking wretched, his entire suit of armor scorched black.

His disheveled long hair, soaked in sweat, stuck to his face and neck.

He looked up at Evelyn, a hint of fear revealing itself in his eyes.

"What do you intend to do to us?"

Aldin spoke.

His words carried a touch of trepidation.

He was still afraid of death.

He lacked that noble spirit of sacrificing oneself for a cause.

Otherwise, he would never have betrayed Alice, who had bestowed great kindness upon him, choosing instead to defect to Kira.

Evelyn looked at Aldin but did not answer his question.

She turned her head toward Sakura and said, "Take some people and escort them to Maple City; deal with them when I return."

Sakura nodded and replied, "Yes."

Evelyn simply ordered Sakura to take all the Flower Swordsmen away.

After all, upon reaching the Poison Dragon Cave, the Flower Swordsmen could not exert any influence.

That place was too dangerous; the Flower Swordsmen were generally second-tier professionals, with only a few third-tier.

As the leader of the Flower Swordsmen, Sakura was merely a swordsman at the peak of the third tier.

There was still a distance to go before becoming a Grand Swordsman.

Following them into the Poison Dragon Cave would only become a burden.

Discarding the accompanying Flower Swordsmen left only Evelyn, Li Wei, and Lilith.

Their speed of movement increased significantly.

The trio did not even require carriages; their flight speed surpassed that of horse-drawn carts.

Yet, to conserve stamina and mana.

The three still chose to ride carriages to the Poison Dragon Cave.

Without the accompanying Flower Swordsmen, the carriage speed also increased greatly.

The three quickly passed through the Flower Territory.

By the time Kira learned of the news, the three had already departed.

He sent people to intercept Sakura, who was taking away the knight group.

"Bring the people back to me."
