Chapter 510: Reaping the Benefits as a Third Party

Chapter 510: Reaping the Spoils

Through the miniature avian phantom hidden in Gu Sewei's collar, Li Wei witnessed the cataclysmic battle unfolding deep within the frozen mists.

The eight-winged angel of light, Russell, clashed with Bassam, the apostle of the demon god, their fierce duel casting shockwaves visible thousands of miles away.

Both combatants had surged far beyond the realm of legendary strength.

Even a legendary paladin found themselves utterly powerless to intervene in such a clash.

Leveraging his home-field advantage, the eight-winged angel Russell held a narrow upper hand, forcing Bassam to unleash his ultimate recourse.

The Emperor of Ice let loose a world-shaking roar that nearly shattered the phantom Li Wei had left behind.

His mental link with the avatar came perilously close to snapping.

It took a long moment of recovery before he could stabilize and restore the connection.

The instant the mental link re-established, the first sight to greet him was Bassam, now completely merged with the Emperor of Ice.

With his lower body fused into the behemoth, Bassam commanded the glacial power accumulated by the Emperor of Ice over ten thousand years.

In a flash, the tide of battle turned.

Though this freezing energy could not compare to his own innate power, absorbing the Emperor of Ice resolved his sole weakness: a lack of endurance.

Now, he could unleash his most devastating abilities without restraint.

The ten-thousand-year accumulation of glacial power within the Emperor of Ice was practically boundless.

"Absolute Zero Death Ray!"

A supreme attack, born from the fusion of his own might and the glacial energy, erupted and struck Russell squarely.

The light-bearing wings of the eight-winged angel were instantly coated in a thick layer of white frost, appearing half-frozen.

Crack, crack, crack!

Russell flexed his wings violently, shattering the encrusting frost from his body.

He raised the holy angelic sword high into the air, and a beam of sacred light pierced the firmament, transforming into a sky-splitting blade of radiance that cleaved downward upon the world.

F

A hand was raised to shield against the blinding glare, her figure unsteadily driven backward by the howling gale.

The tiny bird that had remained hidden within Gu Sewei’s collar showed terror in its eyes, staring at the combatants, unwilling to look away for even a single breath.

Even though it could discern absolutely nothing of what was transpiring at the heart of the battlefield.

Far off on the horizon, Li Wei was rushing toward the battlefield with frantic speed.

He could no longer spare any concern for exposing his position.

Hum!

The low, vibrating rumble of trembling space reached everyone’s ears.

Immediately following, a massive collapse erupted in the space at the center of the battlefield.

The spatial collapse was like an avalanche, instantly spiraling out of control.

Pitch-black spatial rifts expanded at terminal velocity, swallowing the two silhouettes at the center of the battlefield in the blink of an eye.

Neither Russell nor Bassam had any time to evade before they were devoured by the black-hole-like rift, vanishing from sight.

The rift born of the spatial collapse acted like a vortex in water, relentlessly dragging and consuming the surrounding environment.

Positioned nearby, Gu Sewei retreated continuously, yet the speed at which the surrounding space was swallowed far outpaced her own flight.

She was dragged closer and closer to the heart of the collapsing spatial rift.

Of the four Holy Knights, three had already been devoured by the spatial rift, leaving only the Legendary Holy Knight fleeing outward for dear life.

No one knew where one would be cast after being swallowed by a spatial rift.

It was entirely possible to never emerge again, trapped until death within the chaotic spatial currents.

Even Russell and Bassam could not guarantee with absolute certainty that they could safely escape the void.

To say nothing of the weaker Holy Knights.

Desperate as their flight was, they ultimately could not outrun the collapsing space, plunging one by one into the crumbling rifts.

Gu Sewei found it impossible to resist the immense gravitational pull originating from ahead, drawing closer to the spatial rift inch by inch.

A look of despair washed over her face; try as she might, she could not withstand the surrounding spatial forces.

The nearest spatial rift had already spread to less than ten meters before her.

Plunging into it meant certain death with only a sliver of hope for survival.

Clatter!

Suddenly, the sound of chains echoed from behind.

A translucent chain shimmering with a purple-black glow pierced through space, coiling tightly around her waist.

Gu Sewei dazed for a brief moment, failing to react.

From the other end of the Void Chain came a colossal force, yanking her body backward at high speed, away from the perilously dangerous spatial rift.

Whoosh!

Li Wei caught the backward-flying Gu Sewei in his embrace, watching the space that had finally ceased to collapse, staying rooted to the spot to observe the changes.

Once the space stopped collapsing, it was swiftly repaired by the laws of the world.

The pitch-black spatial rifts were erased and vanished under the world’s grand might, like a chalk drawing wiped from a blackboard, completely disappearing as though they had never existed.

With the rifts gone, nothing remained but a bottomless abyss.

That was the earth that had been swallowed by the spatial rift.

Russell, Bassam, and the Emperor of Ice had also vanished.

Only the Legendary Holy Knight, who had barely managed to flee the radius of the collapse, remained on the scene.

There was another figure in the distance; judging by the demonic qi emanating from his body, he must have been a practitioner who had allied with Bassam.

Only one person remained on the opposing side as well.

Now, the forces were evenly matched.

Having just escaped with his life, the Legendary Holy Knight instantly locked his gaze onto Li Wei in midair.

He recognized at a single glance that the person before him was the very man he had been searching for.

The Legendary Holy Knight had no time to grieve for his three fallen companions who had plunged into the rift; the Cardinal’s orders took prior command over his mind.

Without a moment’s hesitation, he vaulted upward, leaping toward Li Wei.

As he reached the apex of his leap and was about to descend, a Sacred Unicorn materialized beneath the Legendary Holy Knight.

The Legendary Holy Knight pointed his sword at Li Wei, and the Sacred Unicorn flapped its wings, initiating a charge toward him.

The distant dark shadow stole a glance at Li Wei from afar, then unfurled a pair of black wings similar to Bassam’s and flew away.

Li Wei cast a glance at the fleeing enemy, then turned his gaze to the Legendary Holy Knight charging before him.

“Then only one enemy remains.”

Li Wei released Gu Sewei from his embrace and gave her a gentle push, sending her far from his side, away from the battlefield.

This was a struggle between himself and the Church of the Holy Light.

Gu Sewei should not be dragged into it.

“Sacred Charge!”
