Chapter 391: I, a Wizard; You, Get Down For Me
The tattered white door crashed into the void with a thunderous boom. In an instant, a field of force rippled outward from the threshold, and wherever it touched, the very nature of the void underwent an indescribable transformation. The deep green backdrop of the abyss, under the influence of the door’s power, faded into a pristine, colorless transparency.
"Tap."
The sound of footsteps striking solid ground. This time, when Wang Yu ceased using the remnants of the dream deity’s power to sustain his levitation and allowed himself to fall naturally, he did not plummet into the depths of the void. Instead, he landed firmly upon a floor.
The patterns and textures of that floor were intimately familiar—they were identical to the ones he had seen within his own mental space after falling into a coma.
"A truly marvelous sensation. Though I know not the principle behind it, if one were to categorize this power, could it be considered the power of a wizard? I never expected that what I once lost would return to my hands in such a new form."
As he spoke, void energy surged naturally from his palms. Moments later, the demolition hammer—the same one he had manifested long ago at the Rhine Manor to shatter the Unfathomable Lord’s barrier—was once again gripped in his hand.
He swung it casually. The balance was exquisite, the movement fluid, and its efficacy had ascended a full tier beyond its previously mediocre state. Now, it could truly be called a "demolition hammer." If he were to brandish this in the material world, the effect would be indistinguishable from the blades of destruction crafted by Avia.
"So, the effect of this door is to carve out a piece of the void for me?"
Wang Yu looked at the floor extending from the threshold. It was not large—perhaps fifty or sixty square meters—surrounding the tattered white door before ending abruptly at a jagged fault line, separating it from the surrounding void.
He could clearly perceive everything within the door’s sphere of influence. The madness and manic frenzy that permeated the void were gone, replaced by a pure, empty space. In other words, this area could now serve as a sanctuary; as long as one remained within the door’s influence, they would be immune to the erosion of the void.
Yet, the door’s function was more than mere protection. To Wang Yu, the essence of its protective principle was that it had effectively "occupied" this patch of the void.
This tiny territory truly belonged to him. Much like the way the great octopus occupied the void, all the void energy within this region was now at his disposal to fuel his sorcery. Thus, the wizarding power that had once been pathetically weak had returned to him in a brand-new guise.
"A pleasant surprise. I never imagined this ability would transform into such an unreasonable form. But it is certain that as my physical strength increases, the door is gradually manifesting into reality. Now, it is time to leave."
He grabbed the doorframe and slapped it against his own forehead. The door vanished upon contact, transforming into a unique presence within his body. His entire arm became suffused with a faint golden glow—another manifestation of the Chariot’s power.
With a casual grasp, his golden-lit right arm touched the void energy, and the influence rippled outward. A region slightly smaller than the door’s standalone reach was enveloped by his power. Void energy flowed and converged, molding itself to his will to serve as a propellant.
Wang Yu’s mastery of this newfound power was still somewhat clumsy, but under Avia’s previous tutelage, he could manage the basics. He had already caught a glimpse of its potential, which could only be described as wildly exaggerated.
"Snap."
He thrust his hand through the void rift, gripping the intangible boundary, and dragged himself out. He stood once more upon the soil of the material world, looking toward Avia, who was currently checking on the condition of Sieg and Noelle.
Sieg, currently in his dragon form, lay extremely weak upon the ground. His body was charred black, and a massive crater had been melted into his chest, right where his heart should be. He was, for all intents and purposes, dead.
However, judging by the way Avia was force-feeding him potions and the faint dust rising and falling from the dragon’s nostrils, Sieg’s condition was at least stable.
"How is the Professor?"
Wang Yu shouted as he ran toward them, glancing at his palm. The door’s power persisted even in the material world, though its manifestation was restricted; the golden radiance that could fully envelop his arm now only covered his right hand.
"Extremely weak, still unconscious. I have never seen a dragon suffer such internal damage. I can only keep supplementing him with potions to fill the void in his body, but there is a massive amount of residual heat trapped near his heart, which is severely hindering his recovery."
Avia replied to the approaching Wang Yu. He looked at the crater in Sieg’s chest and, without hesitation, plunged his hand inside. The Chariot’s power extended along the wound until he reached the heart, where he sensed the terrifying heat and a strange, concentrated form of magic.
"Eh?"
He let out a soft sound of surprise. Not wasting time to investigate the origin of the magic, he took control of the gases surrounding Sieg’s heart, forcing them to circulate rapidly. Simultaneously, void energy appeared, quickly lowering the temperature within the reach of his Chariot’s power.
"Hiss!"
Superheated air erupted from Sieg’s chest. The moment it touched the slightly damp soil outside, the moisture evaporated in an instant. White steam billowed, and the earth itself began to melt slowly.
"Is this... the power of the void?"
As a wizard, Avia naturally sensed the energy Wang Yu was using. It was a very peculiar void energy, and the way it functioned was entirely different from the sorcery she employed. She asked curiously as she retrieved a large barrel from the Eden Seed space and set it beside him.
"Yes. I suppose I can count as an unconventional wizard once again. I’ll explain the details to you later. By the way, have you seen this kind of magic before?"
As he spoke, Wang Yu used the Chariot’s power to pull out some of the strange magic he had found near Sieg’s heart and presented it to Avia. At the same time, he opened the large barrel, which was filled to the brim with fresh red blood—all of which Wang Yu had stored in advance, and which was now finally being put to use.
He pulled out seventeen or eighteen large potion bottles of various colors—some glowing, some murky, some containing wriggling slimes—and dumped them all into the barrel of blood. Under the manipulation of his Blood-Rage Knight secret arts, the mixture began to swirl, stirring the ingredients into a uniform concoction. It then surged upward, pouring directly into the crater in Sieg’s chest.
Though Wang Yu looked every bit the mad scientist, and the scene of him dumping a pile of colorful potions into a pool of blood looked like a cult ritual, there was no denying that he had achieved a great deal in the field of alchemy. Furthermore, through long years of self-treatment, Wang Yu had become a remarkably skilled physician.
The blood, infused with a cocktail of healing and nutritional potions, flowed into Sieg’s body. With the dragon offering no resistance, the mixture was consumed efficiently, replenishing the severely wounded and unexpectedly weak dragon while repairing the mangled flesh around his heart.
"This magic is very strange, Wang Yu. I cannot use it. The Mage’s Magic Vortex has no traction on this energy, and it is dissipating rapidly on its own."
The girl’s analysis of the special magic he had pulled from near Sieg’s heart reached him. Wang Yu nodded, used hardened blood to seal the hole in Sieg’s chest, and looked toward the horizon. Unbeknownst to them, the Tide of Destruction was approaching once again.
"Let’s go. We can talk about the rest once we’re inside the void. I still need you to open the rift."
He patted Avia on the shoulder and turned to retrieve a bottle of his standard high-concentration energy supplement, placing it into the hands of Noelle, who had been staring at her brother in a state of extreme anxiety. In Wang Yu’s eyes, the little red dragon was also in a state of severe weakness; he had no idea what they had gone through.
As Noelle took the potion, Wang Yu noticed a strange mark on her palm. It looked like a burn scar, but upon closer inspection, it was not; it seemed to have appeared naturally on her skin, rather than being a wound caused by external force.
"Can you not open a void rift with your own power now?"
Avia’s puzzled question interrupted Wang Yu’s brief contemplation. She had already opened a void rift, but it was far too small to fit the unconscious dragon through.
"It’s not possible. The way I use void energy now is different from before. If it used to be a matter of borrowing through void affinity, now it’s more like... robbery?"
Wang Yu replied. He walked to the rift, pressed his golden-lit right hand against the boundary, and pulled with all his might, widening the rift.
He reached into the void and tossed the door inside. It landed, claiming a territory at the edge of the rift. His power synchronized with the threshold, ensuring that the repulsion from the material world would not close or shrink the opening.
Moving quickly, Avia and Noelle entered the void first. Wang Yu unleashed his battle aura, combining his blood and the Chariot’s power to shove Sieg through the rift. He then leaped in after them. A moment later, the Tide of Destruction swept across the material world, reducing everything to nothingness, yet it could not affect the void in the slightest.
"A bit cramped, my apologies..."
Wang Yu scratched his head, speaking to Avia and Noelle, who had entered his domain within the void. As mentioned, the area occupied by his door was not large—fifty or sixty square meters—though there was plenty of room to expand upward and downward.
This meant that once the massive dragon entered, space was extremely tight. Sieg lay coiled on the floor in an awkward position, leaving the three of them with no choice but to sit upon him.
"This is truly unexpected. Is it similar to the way that octopus occupies this void? But I find I can freely utilize the void energy in this region."
Avia observed the space occupied by Wang Yu’s door with great interest, testing the power she could wield within. While the form of occupation appeared similar, the difference was that the void energy there would not respond to her, whereas here, it was perfectly compliant.
"Eh... Noelle, tell us what happened on your end. What exactly did your brother do to cause these two realms to fuse into one?"
Wang Yu paused for a moment. In principle, Avia shouldn't be able to draw void energy from his domain; after all, this patch of land was forcibly snatched from the great octopus, and his priority should be higher. But on second thought, the door was likely intelligent—if the girl asked for something, it wouldn't need his personal approval. They were family, after all.
Having escaped the tide that destroyed everything outside, they finally had the capital to settle down and discuss the current situation.
Noelle, having recovered slightly from her exhaustion, organized her thoughts and recounted the events on the Ash Wasteland—the old man, the abyssal creature, the previous civilization, the Dragon God, and the magic Sieg had created...
"I see. So it’s that complicated. But at least it’s clear what needs to be done and how to escape: send this big octopus to the very bottom of the void."
Having grasped the gist of the situation, Wang Yu caught the key point. He stood up, looked at the tentacles of the abyssal creature—which resembled a giant octopus—clutching the boundary between the material world and the void. Void energy surged in his hands, and the great hammer he had named the "Wall-Breaker" manifested.
