Chapter 413: Facing the Legend, Current Power

“Since you can see it, Master Charles, you might as well accept your end here. After all, this is a scene your prophecies never foresaw; I imagine you can no longer manipulate the unfolding of events.”

Bloom sat there quietly, urging Charles to cease his futile struggles and simply await the coming death. He seemed unconcerned that Charles might kill him in a fit of rage; this usually taciturn and utterly reliable subordinate showed no fear of his own demise.

“……”

Charles remained silent, his face ashen as he stared at Bloom. The alarm, which echoed throughout the headquarters of Night’s Edge, continued its relentless wailing.

“So that is how it is. The prophetic ability of the Reid family is not an absolute certainty; it is more a patchwork of fragmented visions calculated to piece together the coming future. Therefore, one only needs to obscure that ‘mundane’ event with enough ‘more important’ matters to blind their observation.”

Downstairs, the two figures who had entered the headquarters shed their disguises. Void energy and mana dissipated in turbulent waves, revealing their true forms.

One was clearly a warrior, clad in full armor with a uniquely shaped longsword at his waist. Its design was that of a greatsword, but where the blade should have been, it was encased in a thick layer of rock etched with fine cracks. This not only concealed the state of the blade within but also robbed it of its sharpness—a legendary weapon: the Earth-Vein Greatsword.

The other, draped in mage robes with mana flowing softly and orderly about him and void energy rising from his outer layer, was the very wizard-turned-mage who had orchestrated this plot against Charles. Their strength was nothing less than legendary.

“Earth Tyrant” Alfonso and “Horn of Annihilation” Satori—these were their legendary titles, both powerful figures serving the Alastrelle royal family. In most cases, their existence was kept secret; while other agents handled public missions, these two operated from the shadows.

Their mission was clear: to kill the current leader of Night’s Edge and the future heir of the Reid family, Charles Reid, without causing too much of a stir. Previous assassination attempts had been thwarted by Charles using his temporal hourglass in tandem with his unique prophetic gifts. The royal family had lost patience; they were using legendary figures—beings of absolute power—to crush any possibility of his escape.

“I hope he understands that resistance is pointless. Once I unleash my power, it is difficult to restrain its intensity, and the same goes for you. If he does not resist, we might leave behind a whole corpse, but if he does, there will be little left of this building.”

Satori spoke indifferently. To the eye, he was a young man with brown hair, though his true age far exceeded his appearance.

“Hmm,” Alfonso replied simply, his heavy, armored boots stepping onto the staircase leading to the second floor.

“They’re here…”

Charles muttered to himself, his tone grave. He recognized the two figures who had shed their disguises; even at his level, they were known. Two legends—the royal family truly held him in high regard. Even with his temporal hourglass, he could not have survived two legends, let alone without it. But…

“Never mind. Let a true monster deal with you monsters.”

His expression suddenly turned calm, his voice shifting from gravity to a hint of relief. Under the shocked and bewildered gaze of Bloom, Charles took a step backward.

“Snap.”

A void rift tore open out of thin air. An arm reached out, grabbed Charles, and pulled him inside.

“Something’s wrong. The target has vanished. A void rift? How? Wasn’t the Night’s Edge headquarters covered by high-intensity reality-stabilizing spears the moment the alarm sounded? It shouldn’t be possible to open a void rift unless… a legendary wizard! Speed it up, Alfonso!”

The mage below, who had been monitoring Charles’s status, reacted instantly. While analyzing the situation, he urged the warrior beside him to rush up and confirm the target’s state.

“Boom!”

Muscular power surged and exploded; battle aura naturally circulated to reinforce his frame. Every movement of a legendary being was at its peak. With a single, deafening stomp on the stairs, Alfonso vanished, leaving the ground beneath him miraculously intact.

“Clang!”

Almost overlapping with the sound of his step, Alfonso shattered the wall and burst into Charles’s office with a thunderous roar. The thick walls, designed with anti-magic properties and the ability to withstand high-intensity explosions, were like cardboard before the legendary warrior, exploding into a cloud of debris that filled the room.

These wall fragments, propelled by Alfonso’s entry, acted like high-speed blades with lethal force against the weak. Bloom, caught inside the room, was shredded into meat before he could even react.

Alfonso’s gaze did not linger for a second on the man who had sacrificed himself for the plan. Within the dust-filled room, he locked eyes with the man standing where Charles had been—the man beside whom a strange void rift was just closing.

Lifting his gaze, Wang Yu’s eyes pierced through the gaps in Alfonso’s armor to meet his. The battle erupted in that instant.

The moment he crashed into the room, Alfonso had drawn his greatsword. Without hesitation, he utilized his momentum to move with invisible speed, leaving afterimages as he swung the blade in a diagonal slash toward Wang Yu. It was heavy and powerful; the mere displaced air was enough to cleave surrounding objects in two.

A reaction of extreme simplicity and brutality: dash forward, throw a punch. Wang Yu met the incoming greatsword with a fist. The movement was fluid; the power of his entire body flowed through his joints, converged into his fist, and erupted.

“Bang!”

A dull, muffled boom exploded at the moment of contact. Alfonso, the legendary knight, was stopped dead in his tracks. His greatsword was halted in mid-air. The shockwave compressed the air, blasting everything in the room outward and clearing the dust-filled space in an instant.

“Such… immense power!”

The terrifying force transmitted through the legendary Earth-Vein Greatsword shocked Alfonso to his core. He was a legendary knight, renowned for his fearsome strength. Who was this person whose face was nothing but a blur of pulsating colors?

“Boom!”

Having forcibly stopped the legendary knight’s charge with one hand, Wang Yu raised his other, free hand and smashed it down without hesitation. His speed was significantly faster than Alfonso’s; even as the knight attempted to dodge, he could not evade the strike. The fist, trailing a sonic boom, landed squarely on Alfonso’s shoulder.

The floor could not withstand such force and shattered into fragments of varying sizes. Both men plummeted downward. In those few moments of falling, Wang Yu grabbed the knight’s wrists and forcibly pried apart the hands of the armored Alfonso.

“You! Damn… you…”

Alfonso’s words were labored. The strength of the man before him could only be described as exaggerated. Even with his full power, he could only barely hold his ground, unable to resist. He was a legend—how could he be so weak in this moment!?

Expressionless, Wang Yu delivered a violent kick to the chest of the legendary knight, whose guard was wide open. A force even greater than that of his arms slammed into Alfonso’s breastplate.

The armor that had withstood Wang Yu’s earlier strike finally failed against this irresistible force. The breastplate buckled, and the impact surged into Alfonso’s body.

“Crack, pfft!”

The sound of snapping bone echoed as blood spilled uncontrollably from Alfonso’s mouth. His sternum shattered, and his ribs twisted and deformed, piercing into his internal organs.

“Boom!”

Struck by the kick, Alfonso plummeted toward the ground at high speed, suffering grievous wounds. He slammed into the earth with bone-shaking force, sending debris flying and killing several “Night’s Edge” members below who had no idea what was happening.

“Bang!”

The dust cloud was torn apart as soon as it rose. Wang Yu’s figure descended from the sky, his iron fist clenched and aimed at the spot where Alfonso had fallen. Unimaginable power was driven into the earth.

The ground shook violently. Because of the impact area, no massive crater appeared, but the force propagated deep underground at high speed, spiderwebbing the foundation of the Night’s Edge headquarters with countless fine cracks.

Standing up, Wang Yu extended his Chariot energy. After being kicked down, the legendary knight had suddenly vanished. Wang Yu was locking onto his position.

Wang Yu’s strength completely surpassed that of Alfonso. In terms of power, speed, and raw defense, he had utterly crushed the legendary knight.

This was largely due to his “fusion” with the Dragon King. His blood had intertwined with the Dragon King’s body; the burden had destroyed his flesh, and his astonishing regenerative powers had rebuilt a brand-new body. In this cycle of destruction and reconstruction, Wang Yu’s body had grown increasingly powerful as it “learned” a portion of the Dragon King’s strength.

This was no different in essence from his usual method of strengthening his body, but the Dragon King’s power was so immense that even learning 1%, or perhaps 2% at most, was enough to push his physical stats to a terrifying height. At this moment, Wang Yu could be viewed as a pure numerical monster.

His Chariot energy spread out for a dozen meters, but he failed to detect the two figures. While he hadn’t reached the limit of his detection, there was no need to search further. It was time to clear the field.

“Hummmmm…”

An indescribable humming sound resonated from within Wang Yu. It did not originate from any organ, but from the blood coursing through his body. His high-energy blood began to emit a brilliant light, piercing through his skin.

He had become a bomb of immense energy. In the next moment, he exploded. High-Energy Overload: Modified.

A terrifying, pure shockwave expanded from Wang Yu in all directions, tearing everything in its path into dust.
