Chapter 493: Unstoppable
Wang Yu forcibly wrenched a vast reservoir of energy from the serpent’s core, transmuting it entirely into ammunition for Avia to unleash, guiding it into the spell she was currently weaving.
An eighth-tier spell? Wendel Mix’s Fury. Avia’s current standing as a mage could hardly be classified as legendary, for the magic vortex within her body had not yet reached the capacity to independently cast legendary spells—though this was to be expected.
One must realize that the average age of those recorded to have entered the ranks of legendary mages is over one hundred and sixty, with the youngest being forty-seven, an achievement reached by Sura, a legend among mages. And the girl? She was not even twenty, yet it was almost certain she would step into the legendary realm within a few years.
This talent, bolstered by various factors, was truly shocking. In reality, with the power of the Chariot granted by Wang Yu replacing her magic vortex, the girl’s current ceiling was far higher than that of any ordinary mage.
The energy was channeled in a specific configuration toward the high heavens. This eighth-tier spell was constructed by the girl herself; it is not called a creation because, as the spell’s name suggests, it was essentially a simulated release of the thunderous spear once wielded by the Dragon King whose body Wang Yu had controlled—it could not be considered entirely original.
A vortex-like energy aggregate emerged. All the energy within that colossal serpent had been pulled out by Wang Yu and gathered into this swirling mass. Slow yet swift, a deep blue spiral spear wreathed in crimson lightning manifested from the vortex, falling toward the ground with a firm, unstoppable momentum.
The moment the spear was fully constructed, all the dragons engaged in suppressing the Utopia organization’s towers released a dragon breath that was not fully charged, acting with tacit understanding. Using the recoil of the high-energy beams, they flew backward, rapidly retreating from the attack range of a spear that was all too familiar to them.
"Hum!"
A silver radiance flashed and vanished. Wang Yu, who had been closest to the spear destined to strike the earth in ten seconds, was pulled back from the battlefield by the silver dragon Aerylian. From the dragon’s back, he watched the effects of the spell’s eruption.
The moment the deep blue spear struck the solid earth, it began to release energy guided by the internal spell structure, affecting everything within a vast radius with magic. First, it spread a water-mist-like force, covering the ground like pouring water over a high-voltage source to ensure a lethal, sprawling conduction.
Then, utilizing the pre-scattered force, it wantonly guided the release of all the energy within the blue spiral spear. Between heaven and earth, blue currents of light danced wildly, lashing out at everything nearby.
The towers of the Utopia organization, blanketed by this force, were like marked prey, unable to escape the tearing and striking of these light currents. The extreme energy density made it difficult for the distortion of the void to block it for long. Struck by force, the materials constituting the towers disintegrated, and their internal structures burst and shattered.
As the dancing light currents multiplied, the number of destroyed towers increased layer by layer. The entire massive blue spiral spear fully unfurled its helical structure, blooming like a slender blue flower upon the Ash Plains, enveloping the Utopia towers within its gorgeous yet lethal petals.
The delicate "petals" stretched to their limit at one moment, then immediately recoiled inward. During this return, they shattered the few remaining towers that had escaped the first wave of the attack, then successfully converged back to the starting point of the "flower’s" bloom, unleashing a thick beam of light that annihilated all surrounding enemies while blasting a massive hole through the clouds above.
The power was so astonishing that a single strike had nearly pulverized all of the Utopia organization’s towers, leaving only a few at a significant distance from the epicenter to barely withstand the attack—though their fate was no different from those already destroyed.
Silver blades tore through space, slicing through the centers of the towers and cleaving their cores in two. Elsewhere, multiple dragon breaths converged into a single blast, directly shattering the final two towers into fragments.
The power of this shot released by Avia was truly staggering; it was hard to imagine it was the work of a single individual rather than the destructive effect of some massive war machine after a full charge.
However, this might actually be blamed on the fact that the giant serpent created by the Utopia organization possessed such immense power. That thing was the true war machine, but Wang Yu had countered it, simply ripping out the energy core used to drive the behemoth and using it for himself.
To put it simply, what limited the girl’s spell power now, aside from the unlikely-to-be-reached ceiling of the Chariot’s power, was the energy that could not be created from nothing.
Energy storage technology in this world has developed relatively slowly compared to other things. Magic crystals of varying purities remain the mainstream storage tools. Existing "new" energy storage devices are nothing more than using spatial magic to create larger spaces to hold energy; essentially, they are the same old tricks.
At the current level of combat, even if Avia filled the Eden Seed space with the highest purity magic crystals, it might not be enough to hold one or two spells of this magnitude. The energy contained might not even be as much as if it were all replaced by Wang Yu’s blood.
Because of this lag in storage methods, almost all existing giant structures and war machines, such as the Iron King or the main city of the Sky Mechanical City, use internal power furnaces, substituting storage devices with ultra-high-power energy output.
The giant serpent released by the Utopia organization seemed to be an exception. It used a technology combining void energy and magic to store vast amounts of energy within its body. Compared to using a power furnace, it had a higher energy output threshold, operating at several levels above mainstream technology until the energy was exhausted.
The problem was that this form of storage was quite unfriendly when facing a guy like Wang Yu. That mass of energy constrained by the serpent’s internal structure was, in his eyes, something easily within reach. He seized it, handed it to Avia, and thus, such a stunning blow was born.
One can only say that the Utopia organization’s luck with this serpent was truly poor; its original strength was directly turned against them by the two of them.
"The first layer of obstacles has been cleared. Continue to follow Lord Wang Yu."
Misryx flapped his dragon wings, issuing commands to the dragons. His gaze swept over the Ash Plains below—already desolate and barren, now looking no different after being blasted into a cataclysmic ruin—and the cleared airspace. A hint of satisfaction flashed in his eyes. His initial assessment of that person had been correct, perhaps even an underestimate; even the existence beside him was a monster. His ability to become the patriarch of the White Dragon clan had relied heavily on this kind of judgment.
Having cleared the first obstacle after breaking through the "wall," the dragons led by Wang Yu did not stop, rushing toward the center of the Ash Plains. On the other side, the Sky Mechanical City also began to advance toward the target point in synchronization.
Five Gold-Iron Titans, accompanied by their first elite vanguard, took advantage of the Nightfall Church drawing most of the Utopia organization’s attention to move at high speed, eventually arriving at the location of the "wall" that Wang Yu and his group had previously shattered.
"Obstruction detected. It is a composite structure of magic and high-concentration void energy. Intensity is at a battlefield level. Requesting support from the Sky Mechanical City to break through."
The observation results from the mages in the vanguard were rapidly relayed to the Sky Mechanical City by communicators, and the response was completed instantly with Astartes’ astonishing processing efficiency.
"Approved. Commence bombardment."
Located over ten kilometers away, on the Sky Mechanical City, one of the war machines recently completed and prepared specifically for this battlefield began to operate. It rotated its firing port, aiming its head—inscribed with numerous runes—toward the target.
"Boom."
A crack radiating void brilliance tore through the air. It was a mixture of a void rift and a spatial rift, possessing the characteristic of "infection."
This materialized rift struck the target—the "wall"—after a very short flight. In the blink of an eye, the mixture of void and spatial rifts began to spread across the "wall." The "wall’s" effect of dispersing attack power was useless against this destruction directly targeting space itself.
The spreading rifts were like a diffusing plague, staining the nearby space with chaos until the energy that created them was exhausted. By then, a massive gap had already appeared in the "wall," unable to stop the advancing Allied forces.
"Boom!"
The Gold-Iron Titans punched in unison, their iron fists, coated with high-energy matter and void energy, smashing the already crumbling, riddled "wall" to pieces. This thoroughly revealed the towers scattered by the Utopia organization behind the "wall," though while there were still dozens here, they lacked the giant serpent that Wang Yu and his group had faced.
"Hum!"
With a ripple from the void, those towers connected into a web once more, gaining even greater void power. They began to spread the void into the surrounding material world, transforming the field into an area suitable for their combat as colors resembling a starry sky spread through the surroundings.
"Regardless, there is some gain in fighting you. It is better not to let the same trick work a second time."
Aboard the Sky Mechanical City, the scholar, having been assigned the scenario to deal with in advance, activated the device beside him. A shockwave, very similar to the fluctuations released by the Utopia organization’s towers, was unleashed. It traveled at high speed, finally colliding with the environment-transforming fluctuations in the middle of the battlefield.
The two collided, held for a long time, and then simultaneously dissipated. The Utopia organization’s plan to transform the field failed, and the surrounding area remained dominated by the material world.
Even after Icarus completed the breakthrough in void research and the Sky Mechanical City obtained a series of void weapons capable of contending with the Utopia organization, the material world remained the home field for the continent’s intelligent races, and an away game for the Utopia organization.
"Continue to press forward. We are unstoppable; this is a war that must be won!"
"Boom!"
The commander of the vanguard below roared. Led by the Gold-Iron Titans, they fearlessly pressed the front line toward the center of the Ash Plains, where the Utopia organization was located.
