Chapter 809: Siming

Chapter 809: The Guardian of Life

Li Huowang, clad in the blue-and-white striped hospital gown, sat on a bench in the yard, gazing beyond the barbed wire fence, silently awaiting something. He waited—waiting for the dice to make contact with the Yin-Yang Doumu.

At that moment, a gentle nudge came from beside him. A small piece of paper was placed into his hand.

Li Huowang reached out and unfolded the crumpled note. Upon reading its contents, a faint smile tugged at his lips. “Finally,” he murmured.

Just then, he saw a black motorcycle flash past from afar on the elevated bridge.

“What are you looking at? I can’t see anything,” asked a bald patient who approached, puzzled.

Li Huowang sneered. “Hmph! You’re not the Guardian of Life, so naturally you can’t see.”

“Bed 13! Come here! Doctor Yi is calling!”

Upon hearing his name, Li Huowang stood up and walked toward the sand tray room. Doctor Yi Donglai was already waiting there.

“Li Huowang, based on my observations these few days, your condition is quite serious,” said Yi Donglai, adjusting his glasses. “Have you truly not experienced any hallucinations or auditory illusions lately?”

“No,” replied Li Huowang, seating himself again before the sand tray.

“You should think again. Did you take your medicine today? Perhaps it’s already begun, but you’re unaware.”

Li Huowang looked at the empty tray, searching for something. “Where is the little man?”

“No, today we’ll do something different. That little man doesn’t represent you,” said Yi Donglai, pointing with his pen at the wall of models. “Today, whatever model you choose will represent you. You decide which one.”

Li Huowang glanced at the entrance, then moved toward the model cabinet, beginning to select.

First, a grotesque monster with claws and fangs was picked up. Then another figure—a human model—was taken, with a rope passing through it, binding them back-to-back firmly together.

Suddenly, an idea struck him. He reached into a drawer on the left and pulled out two magnets stuck together, attaching them to the models as well.

The rope rose high, lifting Ji Zai into the air. Fortunately, other Guardians held him back, preventing him from flying away.

“Get out of my way!” Ji Zai twisted the false and true aspects of his enemies, yet no matter how many times he altered their forms, they would still spread from unexpected angles. Their Dao was transformation!

No physical contact was needed; merely knowing their presence was enough—their existence became all things.

This Dao was too strange, certainly not native to Baiyujing. It had come from outside. And among such beings, there were sixteen others like it.

“You must use your eyes to perceive the five purities, to understand that heaven and earth are born together. Cutting away their shells won’t help—you need to see their hearts.” Some voices whispered along the rope into Li Huowang's ears.

“Eyes? I’m blind now! Where am I supposed to get eyes?!” Li Huowang tore apart the transformations on his body and shouted upward: “Who gives me eyes?! I need to see them!”

“Eyes!!! The false and true Dao isn’t enough! I need eyes!!!” Li Huowang roared with all his strength.

“You have eyes! They’re right there. Find them carefully!”

“I don’t have them!” Li Huowang dodged and frantically searched mirrors, but no matter how bizarrely he appeared in them, he could not find what he sought.

“You do! Look harder. Don’t focus only on one side.”

Li Huowang quickly reshaped his form, avoiding enemy attacks, then suddenly leapt upward. “Give me eyes!”

His body trembled slightly, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth—he saw them. Eyes had arrived.

“I want to go to the restroom,” Li Huowang set down the model.

Doctor Yi nodded. “Fine. Go ahead.”

At that moment, a phone call rang in. Yi Donglai answered quickly. His face darkened upon hearing the message.

“What did you say? Transfer him now? Do you know how bad his condition is right now?”

"Don’t talk nonsense. His treatment has just begun. Absolutely no transfer allowed."

“You can’t tell me that! Don’t forget—White Tower Ward is not private!”

He hung up the phone and returned to the sand tray. But then he noticed a drop of blood on the floor.

Frowning, he walked over to the model cabinet. Looking at the chaotic arrangement of models Li Huowang had hastily assembled, he saw several drops of blood also on the table.

“What happened? Did Li Huowang cut himself with a model?” He used his pen to straighten the odd structure.

But in the next instant, a grotesque, bloody eyeball suddenly appeared behind the model, staring fiercely at Yi Donglai!

It was freshly removed! It was Li Huowang’s left eye! His left eye was now tightly bound to the model by rope!

In that brief moment, he had torn out his own eye!

Seeing the eyeball tied to the model, Yi Donglai felt his scalp crawl. He immediately turned and rushed outside. “Nurse!! Nurse!!”

Just as he stepped out, the eyeball slowly slid off the model, first falling to the edge of the table, then rolling onto the ground.

As the eyeball descended, about to reach its lowest point, several tentacles suddenly grasped it, quickly burrowing into the flesh behind it and connecting instantly.

“Father! Did you see it?” Li Sui cried out amidst chaos, raising the eyeball high.

“I... I saw it! I finally saw it!!” Li Huowang looked toward them, seeing more details.

The lost time hadn’t vanished—it was still there, embedded within them. The time that should have been real had been twisted into something more suited to their existence—their three souls, seven spirits!

Because of this time, they could enter Baiyujing. Those missing moments had been transformed into shells.

“Finally...!!” Li Huowang took a deep breath and raised both hands toward a distant thread of time.

The lost time was returning to where it belonged. Li Huowang intended to forcibly take their three souls and seven spirits with him!

A sharp tearing sound echoed. One of the shells shattered completely. Without their souls and spirits, they vanished entirely, never to appear in Baiyujing again.

Seeing success, Li Huowang seized the opportunity and resumed action.

However, clearly, they didn’t intend to sit still and let him attack. Some entities overlapped, making it take long to strip away their shells. The situation once again fell into stalemate.
