Chapter 316: Out in the World, Strength Alone is Not Enough!

Chapter 316: In this world, strength alone isn't enough!

After Li Wei discovered the glitch to farm star insects and rack up points quickly.

His ranking leaped upward, securing the top spot.

Laurent, who had always held first place, was stunned dumb.

He had just cleared a maze level.

Opening his magic badge, he wanted to see how far behind second place trailed him.

He intended to ease off slightly, not making things so tense.

Instead, upon opening his eyes, he saw the top spot occupied by someone named Li Wei.

Moreover, the point total far exceeded his own.

Laurent was instantly bewildered.

"No way, who is this Li Wei? Why did he suddenly get so many points?"

Laurent couldn't quite figure it out either.

"Did something go wrong?"

Seeing Li Wei's points begin to climb rapidly again.

Laurent could no longer sit still.

At this rate, his chance at first place would likely vanish.

This year, the family had gone to great lengths to smooth the path for him.

As long as he took first, there was a ninety percent chance of entering the Purple Class.

He absolutely could not let anyone ruin this.

Laurent pulled out another magic badge to contact personnel outside for assistance.

"Something is off; a mage named Li Wei is gaining points too fast, find a way to stop him."

Outside, an elder's magic badge vibrated.

Upon seeing the message, he felt no surprise.

Staying outside, he had been monitoring the leaderboard's movements closely.

Witnessing Li Wei rise unexpectedly to snatch the first position directly.

He was also devising a plan.

"Hmm, I will find a way to handle him."

Laurent read the message and breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Yet, he dared not become careless.

Li Wei's points continued to surge, making his eyelids twitch nervously.

If this continued, even if Li Wei quit the Infinite Maze.

He still wouldn't be able to catch up.

"Can you hurry up? At this rate, I definitely won't catch up."

"I have arranged it already, rest assured."

Li Wei dispatched another batch of star insects and walked toward the next maze portal.

"Huh? Has this already been cleared by someone?"

Li Wei paid it no mind.

He simply chose an open portal and stepped inside.

Walking in, he found the surrounding portals were also in an open state.

Indicating this was yet another maze that had been cleared.

A strange feeling arose within Li Wei's heart.

"Why did the people around suddenly increase?"

He continued forward.

Moving through several maze halls consecutively, he found they were all cleared.

Li Wei realized something was amiss.

"What is going on here?"

Li Wei stopped advancing, standing still and gazing around.

He had realized he might be targeted specifically.

Otherwise, such a situation would be impossible.

Now, even if he continued, the next hall, and the one after, would surely be empty.

Someone had altered the positions of the maze halls.

Trapping him within a specific zone.

Without breaking the spatial loop, he would remain stuck in this area forever.

Even walking through more halls would merely mean circling in place.

Li Wei had passed through two halls he had visited before.

Clearly aware he was looping.

Taking out his magic badge, he saw second place's points beginning to rise quickly.

Adding dozens of points every few minutes.

Rapidly catching up to him.

Li Wei's eyes shifted slightly, as if understanding something.

"If you can't beat me, you resort to dirty tricks?"

Li Wei rummaged through his space ring and retrieved an item.

A gland from a giant star insect, containing a magical liquid capable of corroding and softening spatial barriers.

Previously, it was always the star insects destroying the maze, trying to invade.

Li Wei hadn't expected he would do such a thing himself.

He squeezed the liquid from the gland, smearing it onto the spatial barrier above. For a while, the barrier showed obvious distortion and deformation.

Li Wei drew Death Wolf Fangs, piercing the spatial barrier.

Crack!

The spatial barrier shattered, forming a hole.

Standing at the edge of the hole, Li Wei felt a force pulling him outward.

He crawled cautiously out of the aperture.

Since the Star Worms could operate outside, Li Wei believed he could as well.

"Is this truly the exterior of the Infinite Maze?"

Li Wei gazed down upon the labyrinth below.

He discovered the maze had flattened into a two-dimensional plane.

Surrounding labyrinths were pasted haphazardly into the void like scraps of drawing paper.

An ordinary human body cannot endure the void for long.

Here, there exists nothing to sustain the material needs of ordinary life.

Li Wei assumed the form of the Flame Lord and soared onward.

"As suspected, the surrounding mazes have been tampered with."

Li Wei observed the maze beneath him had been stitched into a single patchwork.

As long as one remained within the Maze Hall, adhering to the Infinite Maze's rules.

He would never escape this region.

This sector had been severed from the outside world.

Travel to other mazes was impossible.

Li Wei cast his gaze upward and propelled himself skyward.

Heading toward the nearest maze.

Hiss, hiss, hiss!

Swarms of Star Worms materialized from the void, rushing swiftly toward Li Wei.

The void-dwelling Star Worms took on a spindle shape.

Limbless, they streaked toward Li Wei like bullets fired from a gun.

Using their own kinetic impact, they could burrow into prey and kill from within.

Yet clearly, Li Wei was not their intended target.

Death Wolf Fangs shot forth.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

Two Death Wolf Fangs darted through the Star Worm swarm, leaving a trail of corpses.

Boom!

Li Wei descended above a maze.

A spatial barrier beneath his feet barred entry.

Looking down, he saw a person standing precisely within the maze.

The figure inside looked up, eyes wide with astonishment.

"What is this?"

Neither Star Worms nor Maze Devourers typically evoke such strangeness.

But encountering a Fire Man outside the maze was unprecedented.

It was incredibly surprising and shocking.

Crucially, this Fire Man appeared to be a mage.

Li Wei produced the Giant Star Worm's vesicle, replicated the method, and opened an entrance into the maze.

Slipping inside, Li Wei's form reverted to normal.

The person nearby stood utterly stunned.

He had merely sensed Li Wei resembled a mage, never imagining he was truly human.

"Y-you... how did you get out?"

He stared at Li Wei with boundless shock.

Li Wei glanced at him and replied offhandedly, "None of your concern."

"Won't you leave? The Star Worms are breaching in," Li Wei asked.

Prompted by the warning, the man reacted instantly.

Glancing at the large hole Li Wei created, he hurriedly turned and stepped into a teleportation gate.

Fleeing the maze soon to be overrun by Star Worms.

Li Wei quirked the corner of his lip.

Waiting for the Star Worms to arrive and meet their doom.

Laurent cleared a level, opening his magic badge to check the point gap between himself and Li Wei.

One glance, and he froze solid on the spot.

Why hadn't the gap narrowed, but instead widened?

Li Wei's points were charging toward the five-thousand threshold.

Laurent angrily messaged the elders outside to lodge a complaint.

The elder was equally helpless.

He had exhausted every scheme to trap Li Wei.

Never did he expect Li Wei could still accumulate points.

By now, only the final measure remained.

The elder personally established contact with Li Wei.

"Mage Li Wei, I have a matter to discuss with you."
