Chapter 389: Biological Alchemist

Chapter 389: The Biological Alchemist

Li Wei accepted Claude's trial.

He was transported into an isolated secret realm.

Within this secret space, there was no exit; only by mastering Spatial Rending could he safely leave.

In the blink of an eye, a day had already passed.

Li Wei exited the dream world.

[Spatial Rending (4th Tier Mastery)] 541/2000

After prolonged refinement and practice, Li Wei had developed a faint perception of space.

Compared to true spatial awareness, his ability felt more like intuition gained through experience.

It was nothing extraordinary, but sufficient for now.

He scanned his surroundings, and instinctively knew that three steps ahead lay the weakest point in the secret realm.

Weak points in space were often connection nodes.

This very likely marked the location of the exit to the outside world.

Only it had been sealed away.

Li Wei calculated the time—it would be just right to leave now and still catch the exchange tournament.

His purpose in coming to the Spatial Tower had already been fulfilled; participating in the tournament itself wasn’t essential.

Still, Li Wei wanted to witness firsthand the abilities of mages from the other spatial towers.

He held some anticipation for the exchange competition.

Li Wei cast Spatial Rending.

A silent crack appeared at the weak spot before him.

The fissure rapidly expanded until it was large enough for one person to pass through.

Looking beyond, he sensed a stable space on the other side of the rift.

That meant it was safe.

Li Wei smiled slightly and stepped into the spatial tear.

Whoosh!

Li Wei materialized within Claude’s room.

Claude stared at him with wide eyes, so shocked that the teacup in his hand slipped and fell toward the floor.

Just as it neared the ground—

Poof! It reappeared back in his hand.

Li Wei’s gaze flickered slightly.

He perceived that Claude’s strength was unfathomably deep.

The deeper his understanding of spatial magic became, the clearer it was how difficult such a feat truly was.

Claude placed the teacup down and looked at Li Wei in disbelief.

“You learned Spatial Rending in just one day?”

Claude asked in shock.

He hadn’t expected Li Wei to actually master Spatial Rending.

All he’d hoped for was that Li Wei could draw upon the power within the murals.

Never did he expect such a tremendous "surprise."

It wasn’t even a surprise anymore—it was bordering on terrifying.

Suspiciously, he asked, “You really don’t have any spatial affinity traits?”

Seeing his expression, Li Wei replied calmly, “No, but I do possess a supernatural trait that accelerates spell learning.”

Upon hearing this, Claude paused briefly.

Frowning, he pondered aloud, “That shouldn’t be possible. Even if you had such a trait, you couldn’t possibly learn this fast.”

Claude had seen traits that enhanced magical learning speed before.

But never anything like what Li Wei demonstrated.

Fact remained fact—no matter how hard it was to accept, Claude could only acknowledge the truth.

As a mage, after all, he had witnessed far too many inexplicable things.

Staring at Li Wei in amazement, Claude said, “With your rate of learning, given enough time, you might become a master of every school of magic.”

He didn’t say Li Wei would become the strongest mage.

Because becoming the strongest depended not solely on learning ability, though it helped.

Some legendary mages knew only one technique—but that single move conquered all.

Li Wei smiled gently. “Thank you for your kind words, senior.”

“I’m sincerely grateful for the spell you gave me,” he added earnestly.

Claude shook his head. “Don’t thank me. You earned it yourself through your own abilities.”

“Oh, by the way—are you planning to join the exchange tournament?” Claude asked.

Li Wei nodded. “Yes.”

How else could he explain why he came here?

Claude chuckled. “Then I’ll look forward to seeing your performance. Don’t disappoint me.”

“Though your current strength is somewhat lacking, with your learning ability, you should achieve a decent result.”

To him, since Li Wei had effortlessly mastered a fourth-tier Spatial Rending,

then mastering a fifth-tier elemental spell—or even a sixth-tier one—was entirely possible.

Even if he remained at the fourth tier, his chances of doing well were high.

Li Wei nodded with a smile. “Thank you for your expectations, senior. I’ll take my leave now.”

Leaving the library, Li Wei returned to the residence area for Elemental Tower mages.

Upon returning, he noticed the place had grown much livelier.

Besides the mages from the Spatial Tower, nearly all visiting mages from the four other top-tier towers lived nearby.

Elemental Tower, Spatial Tower, Alchemy Tower, Illusion Spirit Tower, Summoning Tower—

the five most prestigious mage towers in the world.

Now, almost all the finest young talents from across the globe had gathered at the Spatial Tower to compete against each other.

Unfortunately, this grand event wouldn’t be open to outsiders.

Only members of these five elite mage towers were qualified to observe.

Leo turned around but didn't see many familiar faces.

Just as he was about to turn back,

a figure suddenly appeared behind him.

"Oh!"

Leo almost bumped into her.

A girl wearing a white robe and thick glasses, reaching only to Leo's chest, let out a startled cry.

"Sorry, I didn't see you there," Leo quickly apologized.

The girl with glasses waved her hand and said, "It's fine, I'm partly responsible too."

Leo glanced at the magical emblem on her clothes.

A badge featuring a potion bottle and gears.

An alchemist.

"You're an alchemist?" Leo asked.

The girl nodded and adjusted her glasses. "Yes, I'm Erica from the Alchemy Tower."

"I'm Leo, a student from the Elemental Tower," Leo replied with a smile.

Erica looked up at Leo and smiled. "You're really built. Not like what I'd expect from a mage."

"Oh? What do you think mages should look like?" Leo asked.

Erica pondered for a moment before saying, "Well, definitely not as muscular as you. Dissecting magical beasts is much easier than this. Though some mages have their bodies partially transformed into elemental flesh, making dissection more troublesome."

Leo felt a chill run down his spine. Was this girl an alchemist or a butcher?

Why did she keep talking about dissecting people?

Noticing Leo's expression, Erica gave him a kind smile.

"Oh, I forgot to mention. My profession is biological alchemist. It might be a bit different from what you know about alchemists," she explained.

Leo: "Uh...(⊙o⊙)..."

A series of equations flashed through his mind.

Biological alchemist = biological modification = bio-magic beings = genetic enhancement specialist = mad scientist...

He instinctively examined Erica but found no signs of anything inhuman.

Normally, mad scientists liked to equip themselves with some "technology."

Like replacing their arms with beast limbs for greater strength.

Or growing extra tails or tentacles on their backs.

Erica looked completely normal.

Updating with a new chapter so you can't accuse me of being a quitter...
