Chapter 405: Frozen for Thousands of Miles

Chapter 405: A Thousand Miles of Ice

Elpha activated the Elemental Pact, and his power surged dramatically.

"Undying Flame Phoenix!"

Amplified by the Elemental Pact,

the Undying Flame Phoenix doubled in size.

Under Elpha's control, the phoenix gathered its strength and unleashed its full might.

"Phoenix Fire Beam!"

A thick pillar of fire struck Netro.

Netro raised his arm to block, but the hair on his arm quickly burned away, turning to charred fragments that fell off.

Li Wei’s eyes lit up—his chance!

His gaze sharpened as he invoked the Basic Flame Law.

He ignited the fur covering Netro’s body.

That layer of highly resistant, magic-resistant fur was Netro’s greatest defense.

As Li Wei cast the Flame Law, he felt an intense sensation of being watched.

Though he couldn’t see Netro’s eyes clearly, he could sense that it was staring directly at him.

Whoosh!

Flames erupted across Netro’s body.

Boom!

The Phoenix Fire Beam pierced through Netro’s left arm, leaving behind a scorched black hole.

The remaining force hit Netro’s chest, barely breaking through its defenses without posing a real threat.

Under the influence of the Flame Law, the fur on Netro’s body began to burn—

but slowly.

Purple energy bands shimmered around Netro.

An aura of chilling cold rose from his entire form.

Li Wei felt a chill run down his spine—he sensed something akin to a Law.

As the cold dissipated, the flames on Netro were extinguished.

The two purple energy bands also dimmed significantly.

"Dimensional Slash!"

A pitch-black spatial rift sliced across Netro’s left arm,

severing the wounded limb cleanly.

Boom!

The severed three-fingered arm crashed to the ground with a dull thud.

This was the first time anyone had inflicted significant damage upon Netro.

Everyone present showed excitement.

"Oh! We got it!"

"That’s what I call a Dimensional Slash!"

"Quick, attack while it's wounded!"

They all launched spells toward Netro in unison,

as if determined to strike when the enemy was vulnerable.

Huff huff huff!

Suddenly, everyone felt an unnatural coldness.

Even Li Wei couldn't help but shiver slightly.

Looking up, snowflakes drifted down from the sky.

"A Thousand Miles of Frozen Land!"

Centered on Netro, frost spread outward in every direction, freezing everything in sight.

Crack crack crack!

In the biting wind, everyone turned into ice statues.

Boom!

Elpha shattered his icy shell and stepped out.

Breathing white vapor, he looked into the distance—Netro’s figure had vanished.

Crunch crunch!

Soon after, one by one, the others broke free from their frozen prisons.

Li Wei conjured a fireball suspended above them, melting the surrounding ice.

Infusing it with a trace of the Flame Law,

he accelerated the thawing process.

He glanced once more in the direction where Netro had disappeared.

The final ultimate technique Netro unleashed carried within it the essence of the Basic Ice Law—

only thus could it freeze everyone instantly and encase thousands of meters of land in ice.

Ever since Netro transformed into blue, Li Wei had sensed a peculiar energy clinging to him.

Now, it seemed his perception hadn’t been mistaken—it truly was the aura of a Law.

If Netro continued devouring Purple Star Stones, growing stronger still, and further refining this Law-like power,

then they would find it extremely difficult to oppose him.

Only Laws can counter other Laws.

Those who master Law-level powers at the fourth or fifth tier are exceedingly rare—even sixth-tier mages may not grasp such abilities.

Gazing at the spot where Netro’s severed arm had fallen, Li Wei felt somewhat regretful.

The limb was already gone—

most likely taken along by Netro himself.

Alchemists hurriedly collected strands of fur, blood, skin, and other remnants dropped by Netro during battle.

Using these materials, they could concoct special elixirs specifically designed to suppress Netro.

Next time they encountered it, they wouldn’t be so helpless again.

After some discussion among themselves, several people in the crowd decided to venture together to the strait where Netro had appeared to assess the situation.

Li Wei was among them.

Flying mid-air, he gazed toward the strait between the two islands; the seawater was pitch black, unfathomably deep.

As they looked down at the ocean surface below, each harbored different thoughts.

Once they dispersed, Li Wei created an illusory clone to dive into the sea and investigate.

In less than three minutes, contact with the clone was lost.

Just before losing connection, Li Wei saw his clone swallowed by a massive, blood-stained maw.

Besides the terrifying ancient calamity beast Netro lurking beneath the waves, there were also numerous enormous sea creatures dwelling in these waters.

These marine beasts generally reached the fourth or fifth tier in strength.

This might well be why Netro chose to live within the ocean—

The abundance of such colossal prey provided ample sustenance.

The magical beasts on land wouldn’t even fill the gaps between Netro’s teeth—he stood over twenty meters tall.

Only the truly gargantuan sea monsters, whose bodies stretched dozens or even hundreds of meters, could satisfy Netro's hunger.

Seeing how perilous the sea was, Li Wei did not dare to venture further.

Not long after Li Wei left, others gradually arrived one after another to explore the strait.

Yet all returned empty-handed.

Some avoided the sea beasts and ventured deep into the channel itself, but still found no trace of Netro.

No one knew where Netro had gone.

Li Wei returned to the arena where Eris waited.

Noticing fresh signs of combat around him, Li Wei showed surprise. “Someone came here?”

Eris nodded. “Yes. While you fought that ancient disaster beast, a group seized control of various arenas.”

“The Summoning Tower people?”

Surveying the surroundings, Li Wei noticed plenty of leftover fur, scales, and bloodstains from magical beasts atop the platform.

Eris confirmed, “Indeed. Most likely they thought fighting the ancient disaster beast offered little hope, so they tried to seize as many arenas as possible during the chaos.”

“But fortunately,” he continued, “the summoners I encountered weren’t strong enough. I sent them packing easily.”

Li Wei walked over to a clean stone and sat down.

“We’ll rest for a bit. Wait until morning before deciding what to do next.”

With Netro vanished, night slowly settled.

From time to time, distant sounds of battle echoed through the air—proof that not everyone intended to spend the night peacefully.

Thankfully, neither Li Wei nor Eris faced enemy attacks during the latter half of the night.

Whoosh!

A salty sea breeze swept past as Li Wei gazed into the distance.

On the horizon separating sea and sky, a thin white line emerged.

Half an hour later, the first rays of dawn rose from the ocean, illuminating the world.

Having shared breakfast, Li Wei and Eris began discussing their next move.

“So it’s settled—we’ll act separately. Try to earn as many points as we can over the next couple of days, then meet again on the final day to claim and hold the arena.”

Scarcely had Li Wei finished speaking when Eris’ expression subtly shifted.

He cast a long-distance communication spell, moving his lips silently as if conveying something urgent.

Unable to hear anything, Li Wei raised an eyebrow slightly. “What is it?”

After a moment, Eris turned back to Li Wei and replied, “Someone from the Elemental Tower has been eliminated.”

Li Wei remained unsurprised. “Isn’t that quite normal?”

Eris’ eyes darkened with concern. “The key point is—they were all eliminated simultaneously. Three people at once.”

Li Wei looked shocked. “How is that possible?”

“Even facing formidable foes, it shouldn’t happen that three individuals are eliminated at exactly the same time.”

“What could have happened to them?”

Eris said grimly, “We don’t know yet. Elfa has already dispatched people to find out.”
