Chapter 406: Mysterious and Powerful Enemy
Chapter 406: The Mysterious Foe
Eris received word that three mages from the Elemental Tower had been eliminated simultaneously.
To investigate the matter, Elfa had already dispatched people to look into it.
After discussing with Eris, Levi decided they would proceed according to their previously agreed plan.
Levi and Eris switched positions.
Eris had already occupied the arena for an entire day, accumulating a considerable amount of points.
He exchanged them for a spatial javelin.
There were still plenty of points remaining; he could redeem other items when encountering something good at other arenas later.
Levi took over Eris’s position as the arena champion and continued defending the stage.
Eris went out to acquire more points through alternative means.
Before leaving, Eris reinforced Levi's concealment magic barrier.
"Thanks. Be careful on your way," said Levi.
Eris nodded and replied, "Contact me anytime if anything happens."
Levi watched Eris depart into the distance.
Once Eris was gone, Levi settled down peacefully to cultivate.
The sun wasn't too intense yet—perfect timing for practicing the Blazing Sun Visualization Technique.
It wouldn’t cause much disturbance either.
Levi visualized the rising sun, and the radiance of the sun within his mind-sea became significantly gentler.
As time passed, the sun grew larger and larger.
Gradually, Levi found himself immersed in flames, burning all around him.
Sunlight continuously seeped into his body, converging in his mind-sea and condensing into a blazing orb.
The sun within his mind-sea grew ever stronger.
Compared to its original size, after some cultivation, the diameter of the sun in his mind-sea now exceeded fifty meters.
The larger the sun in his mind-sea, the faster it absorbed external solar energy.
Or perhaps one should call it resonance.
The resonance between the inner sun and the real sun became increasingly powerful.
Its might grew ever greater.
With this sun residing in his mind-sea, even during the darkest night, Levi could retain the peak strength he possessed under daylight for short periods.
Levi thought—if he encountered Nitor during the day, things might turn out differently.
Especially beneath the scorching sun, his fire-element spells would surge several times in power.
Even Nitor might not withstand such force.
Unfortunately, judging by current circumstances, Nitor seemed only to appear as the ultimate boss during nighttime.
During the day, there was no trace of him anywhere.
Buzzzz!
Suddenly, Levi sensed a faint ripple of space emanating from nearby.
His eyes snapped open, gazing sharply toward the source.
Seeing where the spatial fluctuation originated, Levi froze momentarily.
"What is this?"
In the next instant, a figure materialized from thin air.
Boom!
Elfa landed heavily on the ground. With a startled expression, he glanced behind him before taking in the changed surroundings and finally letting out a long sigh of relief.
"At last... I've escaped."
"Why are you here, Elfa?" Levi asked curiously.
Upon hearing this, Elfa turned toward Levi, realization dawning across his face.
"So it was you who left these coordinates."
Noticing how disheveled Elfa looked, Levi frowned and asked, "What happened?"
He could clearly see that Elfa had fled hastily, teleporting here in desperation.
Elfa shook his head and sighed deeply, saying, "I ran into an opponent I couldn't possibly defeat."
Levi showed surprise. "Who exactly? Someone so formidable that even you feel utterly helpless?"
Elfa explained, "She possesses an item capable of silencing magical elements within a certain range. All elemental spells become unusable."
Levi furrowed his brow. "Such a monstrous artifact?"
Elfa nodded grimly. "Indeed monstrous. Without that item, I wouldn't have needed to flee like this."
Then he sighed again.
"Apart from her artifact being absurdly powerful, her own strength is also terrifying."
Unable to help but wince slightly, Elfa muttered, "Whose mage has brute strength rivaling that of a wild bull?"
Levi eyed him suspiciously and asked, "Don't tell me you bumped into a biological alchemist?"
"A biological alchemist?" Elfa questioned.
Levi explained everything briefly. "I once met one myself—an individual transformed beyond human recognition, though incredibly strong. Their abilities differ vastly from ordinary alchemists."
Elfa shook his head. "No, the person I encountered seemed perfectly normal."
"But she might indeed be a biological alchemist. Otherwise, how else could she possess such overwhelming strength?"
"Forget about it. Let's not dwell on this anymore—I must go now."
Glancing around, Elfa headed off toward the Twin Peaks.
Earlier, he had stayed behind alone to hold back the enemy, allowing his companions to escape first.
Now, he needed to regroup with them.
If Levi hadn't been occupying the arena,
he would have challenged directly, seized control of the platform, and called Croix over.
Suddenly remembering something, Levi quickly stopped Elfa and asked, "By the way, did you find whoever eliminated those Elemental Tower mages this morning?"
Elfa shook his head. "Haven't found them yet."
"You should also stay cautious. I heard others from different mage towers were collectively eliminated too. No one knows what really happened."
Frowning deeply, Levi felt full of doubts.
How could there be no word at all?
Could the enemy truly be that formidable?
Elfa finished speaking and departed.
Li Wei, seeing this, sat down and continued his cultivation.
It was just as well—the fewer people there were, the less competitive pressure he faced.
With fewer people around, no one came to trouble him anymore.
He could cultivate in peace.
Scarcely had he settled when Li Wei sensed the arrival of an uninvited guest.
He felt danger approaching.
Li Wei opened his eyes to look, yet saw no source of threat.
Everything before him appeared normal.
Yet he could distinctly sense something amiss.
As a precaution, Li Wei secretly transformed into fire elementals, cloaking himself with illusionary arts to maintain his usual appearance.
Suddenly, an arm pierced through his chest, sparks flying everywhere.
Li Wei looked down, startled.
It was an arm covered in white fur.
Most strikingly, the hand bore only three fingers.
"Nitro!"
A jolt ran through Li Wei's heart as he realized who his assailant was.
He quickly turned his head.
All at once, Li Wei’s head exploded, scattering into flames across the ground.
His fiery form swiftly dispersed, regathering shortly after in midair not far away.
Amidst the flames emerged Li Vi's face.
He stared intently at the ancient calamity beast Nitro before him—human-sized, draped entirely in white fur.
So there was more than one Nitro.
The giant brown Nitro prowled during nightfall.
This smaller, human-sized white Nitro moved about in daylight.
Its movements were utterly silent.
It seemed capable of devouring every sound around it.
No noise whatsoever.
The white Nitro vanished from its spot.
Li Wei’s spiritual senses caught a fleeting figure darting rapidly.
When the white Nitro moved, not even the slightest sound escaped.
Even sounds made by Li Wei himself were swallowed by some invisible monster.
Now Li Wei understood why three elemental mages had been eliminated simultaneously without sending out any message.
The white Nitro consumed sound.
Flame Domain unfolded.
Fire burned silently.
Like a pale specter, the white Nitro suddenly materialized before Li Wei.
Its beak split open—a high-frequency sonic assault erupted forth.
Ziiing!
In an instant, Li Wei’s figure shattered under the impact, reduced to scattered embers on the ground.
