Chapter 400: Tier 4 Intermediate
Chapter 400: Intermediate Fourth Tier
A faint, multicolored halo shimmered around Li Wei.
This was a barrier created by employing illusionary arts to replicate hallucinogenic particles.
Extremely fragile.
Its sole purpose was to isolate the hallucinogenic particles within the rainbow mist.
Forces of the same nature repel one another.
The rainbow mist receded beyond the confines of the barrier.
Li Wei’s eyelids twitched slightly—neither of the illusionists noticed his subtle movement.
He remained expressionless, feigning entrapment within the illusion, unable to break free.
Silently, he cast a spell.
By the time the two sensed the abnormal magical fluctuations around them, it was already too late.
Boom!
Flames erupted skyward from the mountaintop.
From afar, it looked like a volcanic eruption.
But there was no volcano here.
It was magic!
Super Inferno!
The attack engulfed the entire summit.
The roaring magical flames incinerated the rainbow illusions.
Alfa and the other two successively broke free from the illusion, regaining consciousness.
Seeing the surrounding flames, Alfa showed alarm, somewhat tense.
Moments later, realizing the fire wasn’t targeting them—and in fact, it was because the flames had burned away the rainbow mist that they were able to awaken—he relaxed slightly.
Alfa immediately scanned the area for the enemy.
Spotting the illusionist on the arena platform, his eyes darkened with fury.
They had nearly capsized in a ditch this time.
Fear lingered in his heart.
“Undying Fire Phoenix!”
Behind Alfa emerged a phoenix of flame, spewing searing fire toward the illusionist on the stage.
Flames swallowed the illusionist's figure.
Bang!
The illusionist shattered like a bubble, vanishing from the spot.
He had already relocated.
Illusionists never place themselves directly before their enemies.
Li Wei often used this tactic himself—which is why he chose to expand the attack range to cover the entire mountaintop.
To avoid precisely what had just happened to Alfa.
Li Wei shouted, “They’re over there!”
He manipulated the flames to mark the positions of the two.
Now the entire summit blazed with fire.
Unless the illusionists fled the mountain entirely, they could not escape Li Wei’s fiery domain of perception.
Flames coiled into serpentine forms, slithering and striking at the illusionists.
Besides mastery of illusion, illusionists possessed formidable mental strength—they also excelled in psychic spells: telekinetic magic.
Telekinesis formed a sphere around the illusionist, shielding against outside attacks.
Flames licked at the telekinetic shell, revealing the boundaries of defense.
“Phoenix Flame Thread!”
Without hesitation, Alfa launched a full-power assault.
Screech!
The Undying Fire Phoenix soared into the sky, then dove down, unleashing a torrent of flame sweeping across the location of the two.
Rumble!
The earth cracked and split under the Phoenix Flame Thread; rocks exploded under intense heat, sending shards flying everywhere.
Only through combined efforts did the two barely withstand the strike.
Just as they blocked the Undying Fire Phoenix’s attack—
a massive dragon head made of flame materialized behind them, swallowing both figures whole.
The flames atop the mountain dissipated.
One of them cast a minor wind spell, dispersing the scorching air.
Li Wei revealed a trace of disappointment.
At the final moment when the Fire Dragon Spell struck, they escaped.
Using some kind of displacement magic.
Leaving behind two straw dummies in their stead.
The illusionists vanished without a trace.
Had he anticipated earlier that the two still held such tricks, perhaps using Void Chains to bind one might have eliminated an opponent.
Though somewhat disappointed, Li Wei didn’t dwell on it much.
After all, he had no obsession with victory or defeat.
He was merely passing through.
Alfa turned to Li Wei, his expression grave. “Li Wei, we owe you our freedom from the illusion.”
Li Wei shook his head. “Even without me, you would’ve broken free eventually. I simply happen to be better versed in these matters.”
Alfa replied, “That may be true, but if things dragged on too long, who knows what might have happened?”
Hearing their exchange, the other two exchanged glances, faces awkward.
Both Li Wei and Alfa wore expressions of complete confidence in escaping the illusion.
It made the two feel ashamed.
They hadn’t the slightest certainty they could manage it.
Originally paying little attention to Li Wei, after this incident, they now regarded him with newfound respect.
Li Wei turned to Elfa and asked, “What are you going to do next?”
Elfa replied, “Continuing to hold the arena atop the mountain will surely bring even greater difficulties, but there’s no reason to simply hand it over.”
“I’ll guard it for a while longer. We’ll see what happens when a formidable enemy shows up.”
Li Wei nodded. “Then I’ll be off first.”
With that, he turned and ran.
Staying here any longer might drag him into further trouble.
Better to leave this place of chaos behind as soon as possible.
Li Wei soared into the sky and looked down below. Everywhere he glanced, signs of battle stirred the land.
The earth trembled, mountains shook, and smoke billowed into the air.
This time, it was truly real.
He let out a long breath.
“Well, it wasn’t entirely without gain. At the very least, now I have some experience dealing with illusionists.”
He flew in the direction where Eris was.
When he returned near the arena, Li Wei looked around but saw no trace of the platform.
Only then did he suddenly remember—Eris had already concealed the arena with a magical barrier.
From outside the barrier, the arena was completely invisible.
Seeing Li Wei in the sky, Eris cast a long-distance voice transmission spell.
“I’m twenty meters to your left.”
Hearing this, Li Wei descended to his left.
As he passed through the magical barrier, the scenery changed before his eyes.
From the outside, this place appeared to be nothing more than a small grove partially submerged by seawater.
But once inside, one could clearly see the arena situated in an open space within the woods.
Eris looked at Li Wei and asked, “You didn’t run into any danger, did you?”
Li Wei shook his head. “I’m fine.”
He glanced around. There were no signs of combat.
That meant, during the time he’d been gone, no one had likely come to challenge Eris.
It made sense—he had only been away for about ten minutes.
Such a short time shouldn’t have been enough for anything major to happen.
Li Wei scanned the surroundings and found a spot to sit.
“I’ll just stay here and see how things develop.”
Eris nodded. “Mm.”
The two of them remained still, letting events unfold as they would.
Li Wei sat outside the arena and resumed his cultivation.
After a period of diligent practice, his magical power had grown rapidly.
**[Solar Contemplation Method (Tier 4)] 3210/10000**
His magical energy had already reached mid-tier four.
Though the Solar Contemplation Method cultivated quickly, its side effects were immense.
Ordinary people couldn’t possibly withstand them—one misstep and they would burn themselves to death.
Fortunately, Li Wei possessed intermediate fire immunity, allowing him to resist flame damage up to tier five.
Thus, he could fully commit himself to cultivating the Solar Contemplation Method.
No need to fear self-immolation.
Li Wei drank a vial of Fire Essence Elixir and slightly restrained his cultivation speed.
He didn’t want to draw too much attention.
Keeping things within the bounds of normal training.
Eris noticed flames erupting from Li Wei’s body and was startled, about to warn him—
But upon closer inspection, realized the flames couldn’t harm him in the slightest.
Moreover, those flames seemed driven by some force, continuously seeping into Li Wei’s body, enhancing his strength.
Eris’ eyes widened in astonishment.
“What kind of cultivation technique is this?”
