Chapter 443: Rox's Purpose of Coming

Chapter 443: The Purpose of Locke's Visit

When Erica mentioned her intention to return to the Alchemy Tower and continue submitting to Locke’s servitude,

Levi wanted to help her but found himself without a clear solution.

This was not a matter that could be resolved through sheer strength alone.

Even if Levi had the power to destroy an entire kingdom, he would still be helpless against the predicament Erica faced.

He thought of someone—

If it were Torresta, perhaps there might be a way.

However, his relationship with Erica hadn’t yet reached such depth.

Erica herself hadn’t even considered breaking free from Locke’s control.

If Levi brought it up first, he might come off as overly meddlesome.

Levi looked at Erica and said, “I have one last question—why exactly did Locke come here?”

Erica replied, “To search for dragons.”

“To be more precise, he seeks dragon hearts.”

Levi frowned in confusion. “Dragon hearts?”

Then, recalling something, he asked in surprise, “Could it be for crafting Dragonblood Potions?”

Erica nodded slightly. “Yes… and no. Not ordinary Dragonblood Potions, but Longevity Dragonblood Potions.”

“A special kind of potion that can extend the user’s lifespan.”

Levi raised a brow. “Locke wants immortality? With his abilities, shouldn’t he already have access to such things?”

After all, Locke could replace his body at will and modify himself endlessly.

Obtaining longevity should have been effortless for him.

Erica shook her head. “It’s not my master who desires the Longevity Dragonblood Potion. I don’t know who exactly is behind this, but Master seems to be working solely for that person.”

Levi felt a flicker of astonishment—he hadn’t expected someone as formidable as Locke to merely be another man’s pawn.

Oats strode over and said bluntly, “The one pulling Locke’s strings is Oberon Norman—the Jade Prince of the Empire.”

Hearing this, Levi turned toward Oats.

“How do you know that?”

Oats answered calmly, “Both Locke and I work under Norman. It’s just that we serve different roles.”

Levi suddenly recalled past events and realized the truth.

“Oh,” he said, “so it was him who helped you establish your nation.”

Oats shook his head. “No, it wasn’t him.”

Levi paused, furrowing his brows. “What do you mean?”

Oats explained, “Although I’ve worked for Norman, he isn’t the one I truly serve. He’s simply one of my employers.”

Levi studied him intently. “Then who *do* you serve?”

Oats replied firmly, “That’s something I cannot tell you—at least not now.”

Levi waved dismissively. “Forget it. I have no interest in your political struggles. You don’t need to tell me anything further.”

Oats said earnestly, “Perhaps you’re uninterested now, but given your demonstrated strength and potential, you’ll inevitably be drawn into this great conflict of our era.”

“This is both peril and opportunity.”

“It is the worst of times—and also the best.”

“We shall usher in a golden age. I sincerely invite you to join us.”

Levi shook his head and declined. “Sorry, but I don’t wish to get involved in your affairs.”

“If that day ever comes—I’ll reconsider then.”

Oats nodded. “You are always welcome to join us.”

“What we aim to change is not only the Northlands and Middle-earth—but the entire world.”

Upon hearing those words, Levi couldn’t help but chuckle softly.

“That sounds rather ambitious.”

Unfortunately, he had no desire to participate in whatever schemes Oats and his allies were plotting.

Just by listening, he knew they were dangerous.

Attempting to reshape the entire world meant confronting the gods themselves—who ruled from on high.

The gods would never allow changes beyond their expectations.

Turning away, Levi departed.

Now that he understood Locke’s purpose in coming to Mapleleaf City,

he had also learned of a major event soon to unfold.

Of course, it might end before it even began.

Whatever Oats and his group intended to do was extremely difficult.

Though Levi didn’t know the specifics, he assumed it boiled down to power struggles and shifting dynasties.

Ancient sages of past lives had long warned future generations of an immutable truth:

Division after prolonged unity; unity after extended division.

Human empires had maintained rule for thousands of years.

Too many internal contradictions had accumulated.

At this stage, nothing remained stable.

Rather than what Oats sought to accomplish, Levi was more intrigued by the figure known as the "Jade Prince."

If the Jade Prince truly desired the Longevity Dragonblood Potion,

then conflict between him and Levi was inevitable.

After all, Levi currently possessed the only Sacred Dragon left in the world.

One could even say he held the last living dragon alive.

In the centuries since dragons vanished from the world, Saint Xi had become unique—an irreplaceable relic.

Otherwise, why would the Jade Prince chase after the elusive legend of Dragonfall Slope?

Surely, with his capabilities, he could obtain far more accurate information elsewhere.

This indicated that Dragonfall Slope represented the closest lead he’d managed to uncover regarding dragons.

Levi summoned White Nitro back into his Beast Ring.

His Shadow Servant returned within him.

He walked toward the Mage Tower.

"After all this time, Shengxi and Tolesta should be about finished with their chat?"

Whish!

A silhouette cut through the vast sky, descending upon Maple Leaf City.

Li Wei stopped in his tracks, tilting his head upward.

When he caught sight of the newcomer, he could not help but knit his brows.

He realized that lately, he had been frowning more and more often.

That was hardly a good thing; it would make the skin on his forehead wrinkle prematurely.

But there was nothing to be done about it; he had encountered too many vexing troubles recently.

Take the present moment, for instance: a cardinal of the Holy Church of Light had just appeared in the skies above Maple Leaf City.

Although Li Wei did not know Minos, he recognized the distinctive vestments of a cardinal at a single glance.

Ever since he had snatched the Goddess’s Tears from the Holy Church of Light, Li Wei had spent some time thoroughly researching the organization.

He was fundamentally well-acquainted with the personnel structure of the Church.

A cardinal was already considered part of the high-ranking leadership within the Holy Church of Light.

Naturally, their strength was bound to be utterly terrifying.

Lancelot was merely a bishop of the Holy Cathedral of Light, yet his power had already reached the legendary tier.

His status was vastly inferior to that of a cardinal.

A cardinal was someone who could act abroad on behalf of the Pope himself.

Walking the world, they essentially embodied the very will of the Holy Church of Light.

Li Wei felt a secret anxiety blooming in his heart—could this cardinal have come for the Goddess’s Tears?

The Goddess’s Tears had already been consumed during the Impure World Reincarnation ritual.

He could only hope that the other party would not trace it back to him.

Minos paused for a brief moment above Maple Leaf City before flying toward the Mage Tower.

He had sensed the aura of the Holy Dragon.

Earlier, from afar, he had detected the ripples of divine power.

Only upon arriving at Maple Leaf City did he perceive the faint, subtle aura of the Holy Dragon.

It was right inside the Mage Tower.

Li Wei’s heart gave a sudden, startled leap as he watched Minos fly toward the Mage Tower.

Damn it, could he be after the Holy Dragon as well?

Li Wei hurriedly rushed toward the Mage Tower.

An overwhelming annoyance filled his mind.

He had known that the Holy Dragon was a matter of grave consequence, but he had never expected it to bring so much trouble.
