Chapter 461: Blessing of the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers
Chapter 461 The Blessing of the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers
Levi followed Alice back to the City of Flying Flowers.
He had originally intended to leave immediately after the battle had drawn to a close.
Levi had by no means forgotten the precariousness of his current situation.
However, Alice had insisted on giving him something of great importance.
When Levi asked what it was, Alice remained silent.
She merely told him that it was intimately connected to the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers.
"Rather than saying I am giving it to you," she teased with a light laugh, "it would be more accurate to say it is a gift from the Goddess herself."
Only then did Levi choose to stay; after all, was his very purpose in coming to this city not to discover the true nature of this deity?
Alice did not keep Levi waiting for long.
Once she had finished settling the necessary affairs, she swiftly led him into a secluded, quiet chamber.
Within the room, there were only the two of them.
Levi glanced around the space before turning his gaze toward Alice, asking, "Where is the person you spoke of?"
Knowing exactly whom he meant, Alice smiled gently and said, "Do not be in such a rush."
As the words left her lips, she raised both hands and pressed her palms together before her chest, and a slender thread of light pierced the dimness of the room.
Prismatic radiance spilled from between her fingers, drawing a look of profound curiosity from Levi.
Slowly parting her hands, Alice revealed a tiny, delicate figure resting upon her palms.
Astonishment colored Levi's face. "A fairy?"
"Indeed," Alice murmured. "This is the blessing bestowed upon you by the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers."
The thumb-sized fairy let out a crisp, chime-like laugh and fluttered toward Levi, circling him a few times and leaving behind a trail of shimmering, colorful sparks before diving straight into his chest.
A sudden tremor ran through Levi's entire being as he felt a novel, vibrant power bloom within him.
Gleaming words manifested before his eyes.
[Blessing of the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers (Epic)] Favored of the Flower Goddess, Flower Whisperer, Favored of Nature.
Levi had acquired a new transcendent trait.
An epic-grade transcendent trait born from the divine favor of the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers.
This was precisely the kind of power Kira had desperately yearned for.
Delving deeper into the essence of the blessing, Levi gradually came to understand the extraordinary power contained within it.
The status of Favored of the Flower Goddess was far more potent than that of a mere Flower Dependent; the abilities of a dependent held no sway over him now, and any attack or abnormality related to 'flowers' would fail to affect him entirely.
The Mind-Bewildering Flower that Kuris had deployed was capable of incapacitating even legendary-tier magical beasts.
Yet to Levi, who now possessed the favor of the Flower Goddess, it was completely harmless.
Granted, Levi already possessed the Transcendent Dragon Body trait, which granted him immunity to the vast majority of abnormal statuses.
The favor of the Flower Goddess was simply an amplification of strength, a splendid embroidery upon an already fine satin.
The sub-ability known as Flower Whisperer granted Levi the rare faculty to commune with plant life.
And it was by no means limited to flowers alone.
It was a simple yet extraordinary capability.
The power to converse with flora was typically a gift reserved solely for the druids of the elven race.
Even ordinary elves lacked the capacity to speak with plants.
With this ability in his possession, Levi could essentially be considered half a druid.
The sub-ability of Favored of Nature was grander still.
The favorability of all plant-type monsters toward Levi would be drastically elevated, ensuring they would never initiate an attack against him.
Levi recalled the mushroom people—the subterranean Myconids—he had once encountered within the Poison Dragon's Lair, creatures that belonged firmly to the plant kingdom.
Had he possessed this ability back then, those mushroom people would not have attacked him; they might even have willingly guided his path, leading him to the third tier of the lair or even into the hidden paradise of the Peach Blossom Realm.
Beyond rendering him immune to the aggression of plant-type monsters, the trait offered another boon.
Should Levi find himself within a forest, a prairie, a woodland, or any area dense with flora, his recovery capabilities would be further enhanced. Moreover, the surrounding greenery would spontaneously transmit warning signs to him, alerting him to any impending peril.
He had truly become a darling of the natural world.
The ability was exceptionally powerful and immensely practical.
Returning to his senses, Levi looked toward Alice, his face breaking into a smile filled with pleasant surprise.
He had never anticipated that the blessing of the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers would prove so remarkably potent.
It was only a slight pity that he had not been able to gaze upon the true form of the Goddess herself.
Levi looked at Alice, asking with genuine curiosity, "Though it might seem somewhat disrespectful, would it be possible for me to meet the true Goddess of a Hundred Flowers?"
He was intensely curious about her.
Hearing his request and listening to the silent voice echoing in her own ears, Alice nodded with a warm, gentle smile.
"Very well. The Goddess says she wishes to see you as well."
"Give me your hand," Alice instructed.
Levi extended his right hand, and Alice gently took it in her own.
In that instant, Levi felt his consciousness sever from his physical form, soaring upward at a dizzying speed as though it would pierce the very heavens.
In the next heartbeat, a sensation of weightlessness washed over him as if he were plummeting rapidly through a void, but just as he braced himself for a fall, a solid, grounding reality returned beneath his feet.
He cast his eyes about, finding himself enveloped in a vast expanse of pure whiteness where nothing could be clearly discerned.
Suddenly, the pale mists dissolved, and a figure drifted gracefully down from midair to stand before him.
Levi looked up at the apparition before him, his expression turning to one of utter amazement.
The Goddess of a Hundred Flowers looked exactly like Alice.
Then, a realization struck him.
He had witnessed this visage once before; when Alice had first engaged in battle with Kira, she had taken on this exact appearance.
Levi hesitated, asking, "Alice? Are you... the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers?"
The Goddess spoke, her voice as sweet, soft, and warm as a blooming blossom.
"I am, and yet I am not."
Hearing her words, confusion clouded Levi's brow. "What do you mean by that?"
A look of deep reminiscence surfaced in the Goddess's eyes as she explained, "Long ago, when my consciousness was still hazy and lacked a defined shape, I acted purely on instinct. By chance, I became a deity worshipped by mortals, basking in their faith and offerings, and my power grew grander with each passing day."
"Until one day, I encountered Alice. It was she who allowed me to transcend that primitive period of blind instinct, transforming me into the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers that humanity speaks of."
"However, I have always harbored a profound sense of crisis, a feeling that a sharp blade hangs directly over my head, ready to strike at any moment. I feel as though I am naught but a crop waiting to ripen, destined to be harvested at someone's whim, and so I have continually concealed myself within Alice's body, never daring to step forth into the world."
Li Wei’s face betrayed his profound astonishment, given the sheer magnitude of power Alice had previously displayed.
Even if the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers was not a true divinity, her strength had to be at least of the legendary tier.
Yet, she had remained hidden within Alice’s body all this time, never daring to emerge.
What kind of threat could possibly strike terror into the heart of a being who surpassed the legendary realm?
"Do you know what that threat is?" Li Wei inquired.
The Goddess of a Hundred Flowers shook her head and replied, "I do not."
"I can only sense a looming threat directly above me in the dark, but I cannot discern where it truly originates."
Fixing her gaze upon Li Wei, she spoke in a calm, dispassionate voice, "Perhaps, before long, I will vanish without a sound. I shall leave a portion of my power behind for Alice. When that time comes, I ask that you explain the situation to her so she does not worry for me."
Li Wei’s eyes narrowed as a sudden realization dawned upon him.
The tone of the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers made him feel as though she foresaw her own imminent end and was delivering her final testaments.
"Why don't you tell Alice yourself?" Li Wei pressed.
"I do not wish to cause Alice any grief," the Goddess of a Hundred Flowers murmured.
