Chapter 504: Corruption

Chapter 504: Corruption

Levi levitated in mid-air, gazing at the membrane before him where human faces, hands, and feet constantly coalesced.

He pondered how to bypass this place and venture further in.

This layer of membrane was quite clearly a restriction placed upon those monsters.

It was highly probable that this was the self-defense mechanism of the Emperor of Ice.

Isolating the parts of its body that had already been heavily contaminated and turned into purulent blood, protecting the flesh that had not yet been tainted by the mysterious power.

Judging by the current situation, even this layer of membrane could not completely isolate the contamination of that mysterious power.

Signs of the flesh being contaminated and suppurating had already appeared beneath the membrane as well.

"Hmm, spiritual energy can penetrate the flesh in this area."

While investigating the membrane and the monsters, Levi unexpectedly discovered that the corrupted flesh could not withstand the penetration of spiritual energy.

His spiritual perception pierced through the surrounding corrupted flesh, and the complete view of the environment appeared within Levi’s mind.

Upon seeing the full picture, Levi was inwardly appalled; the extent to which the mysterious power had corrupted the Emperor of Ice had already far exceeded his expectations.

What was visible to the naked eye was merely the tip of the iceberg.

He had also found a way to bypass the membrane area.

Levi commanded the Shadow Servant to tear open the corrupted flesh at the side, and a blood vessel with a diameter of over one meter appeared before his eyes.

After the Shadow Servant tore open the blood vessel, no blood flowed out from within.

This section of the blood vessel had already long since become necrotic.

The Shadow Servant followed the blood vessel all the way toward the upper levels.

Levi followed behind, perceiving the pathway ahead.

The two of them traversed within who-knows-which blood vessel of the Emperor of Ice, bypassing the heavily corrupted flesh tissue and advancing toward the direction where Sanxi was located.

Thump, thump, thump!

Separated by thick walls of flesh and blood, Levi heard a dull sound resembling thunder striking bells and drums.

It vibrated until his ears buzzed, and listening to this sound gave his entire being a vague sense of dread, as if he were drawing near to danger.

Levi surmised that this sound was very likely the heartbeat of the Emperor of Ice.

"Has it already corrupted to this point? No wonder the Emperor of Ice would utter wails and cries for help."

The Shadow Servant came to a halt and looked back at Levi.

"The front is blocked."

The pathway for the two of them ended here; there was no road ahead.

Levi’s spiritual energy barely managed to penetrate the substance blocking the blood vessel ahead.

Seeing the scene behind it, he did not hesitate to order the Shadow Servant to clear the way forward.

Bang!

The Shadow Servant punched through the substance blocking the blood vessel, and a large amount of fresh crimson blood erupted from the breach.

Levi and the Shadow Servant pressed onward despite the difficulty, braving the pressure of the surging blood to delve into the main return vessel leading to the heart.

Squelch!

Just as they passed through the breach in the blood vessel, the vessel below seemed to be squeezed by a tremendous force, flattening completely in an instant and stopping the gushing fresh blood.

Levi was slightly startled in his heart; if he were still inside, he would probably have been flattened by now.

This place was truly fraught with danger at every turn.

Before his eyes was a sheet of blood-red, making it impossible to see clearly, and a torrent behind pushed Levi, causing him to slide forward.

Carried by the current, Levi entered an unimaginably massive space.

He was spewed out by the torrent from a cavern opening high above, falling into a colossal cave completely occupied by a blood-red lake, with no place whatsoever to set foot.

Fresh blood flowed past the exterior of Levi’s magical shield, cascading into the lake below like a waterfall woven from red silk.

The waterfall incessantly poured fresh blood into the lake.

Yet the blood did not overflow, its destination unknown.

Levi turned his head to look; the space before his eyes contained more than just one waterfall of blood.

Compared to these, Levi cared more about where Sanxi was.

He sensed carefully for a moment, and a look of pleasant surprise emerged on his face; Sanxi was not far from here.

The distance was considerably close, and both parties were already capable of soul communication.

"Sanxi, where are you? Are you in danger?"

Levi hurriedly inquired about Sanxi’s current situation.

Only after a moment did Sanxi respond to Levi, "I am safe here for the time being. I have already found the problem plaguing the big guy."

Levi’s expression shifted slightly, "Stay where you are and don't move, I will go find you immediately."

"Let's go," Levi said to the Shadow Servant, and the two of them swiftly flew toward Sanxi’s direction.

After flying for a while, a crimson cliff face appeared before them.

There was no road ahead.

Upon drawing close to this place, Levi could already clearly perceive that Sanxi was just behind the cliff face ahead.

But there was no longer a path.

Levi approached the cliff face, his right hand caressing it, feeling the immense power and incomparably resilient surface contained within.

This was very likely the heart of the Emperor of Ice.

Levi was somewhat hesitant; should he strike to open a hole?

This was, after all, a critical zone concerning the life and death of the Emperor of Ice.

If he were to take action here, there was no telling what kind of madness the Emperor of Ice would unleash.

Therefore, Levi was filled with indecision.

He wanted to find a new way out.

Suddenly, Levi perceived a trace of pain from Sanxi’s soul.

His heart tightened, and he hurriedly pressed further, "What happened to you?"

Sanxi: "Hmph, it’s nothing, I was just caught up to."

Levi’s gaze froze. Caught up to?

Which meant Sanxi was currently being hunted down?

Just who on earth was hunting Sanxi?

Sanxi was a legendary-tier Sacred Divine Dragon; what level of enemy could possibly hunt her down?

Li Wei sensed an enormous crisis approaching.

There was no time to consider the consequences; he commanded, "Shadow Servant, break through this place."

The Shadow Servant obeyed without hesitation and launched an attack against the tough cliff wall ahead.

Boom!

A heavy punch struck the cliff face.

The incredibly resilient cliff trembled slightly but showed no other reaction.

Seeing this, the Shadow Servant pressed his hands together, fusing his fingers into an extremely sharp blade.

Swoosh!

The sharp finger-blade pierced through the tough membrane surrounding the heart.

"Quickly," urged Li Wei.

A tiny flame flickered in his eyes. While the Shadow Servant attacked with all its might, Li Wei also prepared for battle.

Upon hearing the command, the Shadow Servant swung both arms like lightning, leaving countless afterimages.

In that instant, it seemed as if he had hundreds of arms.

Crash! Rumble!

From behind came earth-shaking sounds from the lake of blood—the effects of the Shadow Servant's assault on the Ice Emperor's heart were now manifesting.

Waves of blood surged skyward, crashing toward them.

The opening created by the Shadow Servant began shrinking under immense pressure, making it difficult for him to maintain his offensive.

Li Wei’s gaze sharpened—he could no longer afford caution.

"Shadow Servant, move aside!"

With a flash, the Shadow Servant darted out from the hole.

A pillar of fire erupted from before Li Wei, unleashing the Phoenix Fire Thread forged from azure flames—an astonishingly powerful technique.

Hundreds of thousands of degrees of heat instantly penetrated the muscular layers of the heart, carbonizing surrounding muscles and preventing the wound from closing.

Li Wei and the Shadow Servant seized the opportunity to pass through.

Crack, crack, crack!

Hardly had the Shadow Servant emerged when the charred flesh on his back started crumbling, forcibly compressed by tremendous force.

Li Wei had no time to worry about what happened behind him—he looked forward.

"Li Wei! Wuuuu..."

Sheng Xi noticed Li Wei's figure and cried out, speeding towards him at full speed.

Li Wei cast a solemn glance at the sinister aura trailing behind Sheng Xi.
