Chapter 780: Clothes

Chapter 780: Clothing

“No, don’t take that—too heavy and not at all flexible,” Li Huowang took the steel spear from Qian Fu’s hands, then turned his gaze to Wu Qi beside him.

“Sister Wu, didn’t those guys tell us we’d captured plenty of weapons? Let’s bring them out.”

Upon hearing Li Huowang’s words, Wu Qi unlocked the storage cabinet above the restroom and piled everything they had seized onto the table.

Li Huowang reached for two hefty revolvers. These weren’t quite like the ones seen on television—they had long stocks and looked capable of holding many rounds.

After lightly testing their weight in his palm, Li Huowang nodded toward Qing Wanglai. “Now we’ve got some time, right? Teach me how to use these guns.”

Li Huowang had never learned to shoot before, but that didn’t mean he didn’t understand the value of firearms.

A gun was fast beyond seven paces; within seven paces, it was both fast and accurate—not just talk.

He didn’t know what these weapons corresponded to—whether they were a tool of fate wielded against heaven's will or if there was something else entirely.

But one thing was clear to him now: this could kill his enemies, no matter who they were.

“Hmm... Li Huowang, we’re going to negotiate, not fight,” Qing Wanglai said with a hint of helplessness as he looked over the arsenal laid out before them.

“Is negotiation always negotiation? With these things, maybe our chances of success are even better.”

“Hey, we have people from their side, and they seem eager to negotiate.”

“What’s the point of all that? Teach me how to use a gun. What? You're hiding your skills?” Li Huowang stared at Qing Wanglai.

But suddenly, his expression turned serious. Holding two guns, he walked up to Qing Wanglai, staring intently into his face, scrutinizing every detail, comparing it with memories of the immortal.

Then, his pupils shrank to nothingness. “Zhuge Yuan? Qing Wanglai? You... you’re the Three Pure Ones!”

“Oh my god, this guy’s completely gone mad. Not teaching him how to use a gun was the right call,” others quickly surrounded him, pushing Li Huowang back several steps and taking the guns from his hands.

“What are you doing! I’m not crazy!” Li Huowang violently shook off the arms holding him, barely suppressing his shock. If not for the surprise, he wouldn’t have blurted out what he was thinking.

Seeing that he had spoken the truth, yet everyone assumed he was ill, he realized these people knew nothing about the real world.

“Wait... other immortals should know that Qing Wanglai is the Three Pure Ones. Why do they act like this?” Li Huowang frowned, looking at the others with fluctuating expressions.

I’m here, so why are the other immortals surrounding me inside Baiyu Jing? What kind of event is this reflecting?

“It’s fine, everything’s fine,” Yang Na stepped in front of Li Huowang. “He’s taken his medicine. After a few more treatments, he’ll be fine soon.”

Wu Qi leaned against the wall and let out a deep sigh. “What kind of people am I surrounded by? Not a single normal person among them.”

Hearing that, Li Huowang gave up trying to explain anything. No matter what he said, they would twist his meaning.

From now on, any conversation with them would have to happen through projection. As long as the main goal was to unite against the Law Sect’s god, everything else could be sacrificed.

“Qing Wanglai, Chen Hongyu was right. Think carefully—what if this is a trap? If we aren’t fully prepared, what happens when they capture us all?”

Upon hearing this, everyone fell silent, staring at Li Huowang with confusion. What was wrong with him? Why did he keep changing moods?

“Don’t worry,” Qing Wanglai replied calmly. “Since I agreed to negotiate, I’ve made sure everything is ready. You don’t need to worry.”

“All right, that’s enough. Now teach me how to use a gun.”

“I already told you not to worry. Why do you still want to learn?” Qing Wanglai looked exasperated.

“I’m not worried about the negotiation, but I’m worried about future trouble. More skills, more paths. Why are you being so stingy?” Li Huowang stared hard at Qing Wanglai, trying to figure out why he refused to teach him.

“What kind of immortal is Qing Wanglai? Why does he fear me? Is it because guns symbolize something deeper?”

“This isn’t as simple as you think. It’s not as easy to use as you imagine. Movies show people shooting effortlessly—it’s all acting.”

“And it’s extremely sensitive. Anyone seeing or filming it can cause big trouble.”

“You can’t say that. Can’t I just run in with a knife if someone shoots at me?” The more Qing Wanglai explained, the more suspicious Li Huowang became. What exactly was he afraid of?

“In fact, Li Huowang, I’ve prepared something better suited for you than all this.”

“What?” Li Huowang frowned.

Soon, a black riding armor appeared before him. But when he picked it up, it didn’t feel right. The fabric was thick and heavy, and inside seemed to be rigid plates.

“What is this...”

“Try it on,” Qing Wanglai said.

Li Huowang glanced at him and then at the others, quickly putting on the heavy garment.

Once dressed, he felt his breathing became difficult. This coat probably weighed more than twenty jin.

“What is this?” he asked, only to see Qing Wanglai pull out a pistol and fire several shots into his chest without anyone reacting.

Startled, Li Huowang was knocked to the ground by the impact.

When he quickly reached for his chest, he found no blood, and the pain wasn’t increasing—it was fading.

“How about it? With this level of bulletproof vest, combined with your close combat skills, you’d be like Lu Bu himself. And I’ve also prepared a helmet for you.”

Just as Qing Wanglai lifted a helmet heavier than a motorcycle helmet to explain further, there was a sharp slap.

Yang Na stepped forward and slapped him across the face.

Furious and trembling, she stood before Qing Wanglai, eyes red with rage, as if she wanted to devour him whole.
