Chapter 781: Motorcycle
Chapter 781: The Motorcycle
Staring at Yang Na before him, whose face was like that of an enraged lioness, Qing Wanglai stood still for a moment before calmly explaining to her, “Since we’re putting it on him, this garment must be bulletproof. Don’t worry—I have my limits. I won’t harm your little boyfriend.”
He then raised the helmet in his hand toward Li Huowang, who had just gotten up from the floor. “And this, too, is bulletproof—moreover, it will protect your head.”
“The most important thing,” he continued, “unlike firearms which tend to attract trouble, wearing a bulletproof vest is completely legal. You can even buy it on Taobao. If you carry these instead of guns, you’ll encounter far fewer complications.”
“If anyone asks what these things are, you can simply say they're motorcycle helmets and riding protective gear.”
“Really? Then I want to try them!” Li Huowang reached out and pulled Yang Na behind him, accepting the helmet from Qing Wanglai and immediately placing it upon his own head.
“What’s with the shoulder attachment? When I put this on, I can barely turn my head—it’s only forward-facing now.”
“A helmet must connect to the shoulders. Think about it—if a bullet hits your head and the helmet doesn’t attach to your shoulders, the impact force alone could break your spine several times over.”
“So that's how it works. Learned something new.” After putting everything on, Li Huowang jumped up and down excitedly, shouting to Qing Wanglai, “Wow, Qingzi, this thing is awesome! Come on, shoot me again—I wanna feel it!”
The sound of gunfire rang out once more. This time, Li Huowang was mentally prepared and swayed slightly but did not fall.
He drew his military knife and began slashing at the air as if fighting imaginary enemies, trying to get a feel for the sensation of attacking while wearing such armor.
Meanwhile, Wu Qi, who had been pulling Yang Na behind the bed, frowned as he watched Li Huowang amidst the barrage of bullets. “He could dismantle a truck with just a knife before. Now, Li Huowang might be able to tear apart an airplane.”
“That’s not all,” said Qian Fu beside him. “This guy’s also mentally unstable. Killing people isn’t even illegal—he’s practically invincible. Do whatever he wants.”
Yang Na, overhearing this, grew even more grim-faced.
Beside them, Zhao Lei, who had remained largely invisible, snorted coldly and sat silently, spinning a black spinner between his fingers.
“Here,” Li Huowang said, catching two keys and a small black leather notebook thrown through the air.
Opening the notebook, he found it contained a motorcycle driving license, along with a photo of himself taken at some unknown time.
“What is this?”
At that moment, Qing Wanglai opened the RV door, revealing a brand-new black heavy-duty motorcycle standing before Li Huowang.
“How could there be riding helmets and protective gear without a motorcycle? Wearing such clothes walking around would look strange. But once you ride this, you can go anywhere—even traffic cops won’t stop you.”
“Whoa! Did you get this? That’s expensive, huh? Qingzi, this must be costly.”
Li Huowang stepped out of the RV, circling the machine like a child discovering a new toy, examining and touching it repeatedly.
“It’s not expensive—it’s just projection. As long as it helps us, these things don’t matter much.”
The vehicle was sleek and aerodynamic, its side design giving off a strong athletic vibe. In addition to its muscular appearance, it featured extensive steel tubing, making it look even tougher. It exuded mechanical beauty, and on the beast-like machine, Li Huowang spotted a tiny HP4 logo.
He didn’t know what it meant, though.
“Can a psychopath get a driver’s license?” Wu Qi asked Qing Wanglai.
“Yes, as long as they prove they’ve recovered,” Qing Wanglai replied, gently touching his face.
“Heh, recovered? Doubtful.”
Qing Wanglai chuckled and walked toward Li Huowang. “Li Huowang, do you know how to ride a motorcycle? I can teach you.”
“Don’t underestimate me—I can ride electric scooters.”
Under Qing Wanglai’s patient instruction, Li Huowang finally managed to learn enough to drive safely. Excited, he zoomed through the unfinished buildings, savoring the thrill of speed.
“You really let him ride? Won’t he crash into a wall?” Chen Hongyu asked, watching Li Huowang on the motorcycle.
“No worries. I told him to never exceed fifty miles per hour. As long as he keeps under that limit, it’s no different from riding an electric scooter. Some electric scooters are actually faster than this. It’s perfectly safe. After all, this bike is only for disguising the bulletproof vest.”
After turning around for a while, Li Huowang gradually slowed down and stopped among the others. Removing his helmet with effort, he turned to Yang Na and said, “Come on! Let’s go for a ride!”
Yang Na glanced at the others, said nothing, and simply leaped onto the back seat, wrapping her arms tightly around Li Huowang’s waist.
“Remember to send me a WeChat message during negotiations! I’ll definitely show up!” The engine roared like a beast, and Li Huowang sped away with Yang Na clinging to him.
Driving slowly along the road, Yang Na pressed closely against Li Huowang’s back, listening to his heartbeat as her smooth black hair gently fluttered in the wind.
“You felt it too! He didn’t hesitate even a bit when he shot at you! Qing Wanglai is just pretending!”
Li Huowang placed one foot down and waited at a red light, replying calmly, “Of course I know—but so what? It’s already good enough that he pretends. After all, we’re not family.”
“We’re working together against external threats, so appearances matter. If we stop pretending, everyone gets awkward.”
“As long as we survive this crisis, we probably won’t meet again anyway. After all, I’m going to spend my life with you—not with them.”
Seeing the red light, Li Huowang twisted his wrist and drove the new motorcycle slowly home. “Nana, trust me—I’m not crazy.”
“……”
Upon returning to the residential complex, Li Huowang’s new look immediately caught the attention of the elderly security guard at the gate. “Who are you? Are you a resident here?”
“It’s me.”
Seeing Li Huowang take off his helmet, the guard took a few steps backward, then looked at the motorcycle beneath him.
“Oh~ No wonder you’ve been coming and going late lately—you’ve been learning to ride a motorcycle at the driving school!”
Li Huowang nodded at this explanation. “Right! That’s exactly what I’ve been doing.”
After Li Huowang left, the guard nodded approvingly. “Good lad, got ambition. Couldn’t pass college exams, but riding a motorcycle to deliver food is better than staying home eating off his parents. Looks like his illness is truly gone. Not easy.”
