Chapter 791: Change

Chapter 791: Change

Looking at Li Huo Wang before him, Qing Wang Lai continued, “According to my earlier assumptions, I had thought that dealing with them would be extremely difficult. But after our contact with them, I found it wasn't so. Their situation isn’t as good as we imagined.”

As Qing Wang Lai spoke, a confident smile spread across his face.

“You lunatic! You’re just a lunatic!!” Li Huo Wang roared at him, eyes blazing with fury.

“Huo Wang? What’s wrong?” Yang Na, who hadn’t followed along, walked up to the RV without understanding the situation. But when she saw Qian Fu lying on the bed, she screamed in terror.

She rushed to the bedside, watching helplessly as Qian Fu, seemingly trying to offer assistance, was utterly powerless in this circumstance. Tears poured uncontrollably from her eyes.

It was then that Qian Fu's bloodied hand suddenly reached out and clutched tightly onto Yang Na, causing her to scream again in fright.

Seeing that Qian Fu could still move, Li Huo Wang no longer cared about confronting Qing Wang Lai. With a glimmer of hope, he rushed to the bedside.

He immediately turned his gaze toward Wu Qi. “Sister Wu, hurry and drive! To the nearest hospital!”

Yet Wu Qi said nothing, only sighed softly and turned toward the cockpit.

Li Huo Wang hurried over, encouraging Qian Fu persistently. “Hold on, we’ll get you to the hospital right now! Hold on!!”

But Qian Fu seemed completely oblivious to Li Huo Wang’s voice, staring fixedly at Yang Na, his mouth stretching wider and wider, his grip tightening further. “So... beautiful... truly magnificent…”

After uttering those final words, Qian Fu released Yang Na’s hand. His pupils slowly dilated, his body went limp instantly, and Qian Fu finally died.

Yang Na looked at the corpse before her, then at the bloodstained hand she held. She could no longer contain herself and began sobbing hysterically, retreating step by step.

With a solemn expression, Li Huo Wang approached, gently pulling her into his arms, offering silent comfort.

After several minutes, Yang Na seemed to snap back to reality, trembling as she reached for her bag. “Call... call the police! Call the police!!”

But a long hand reached out and snatched her phone away. When they both looked up, it was Qing Wang Lai’s hand. Long fingers slid across the side of the phone, pressing the power button. “We can’t call the police.”

“Why not?! Why not?! He’s dead!! He’s dead!!” Yang Na became increasingly incoherent.

Qing Wang Lai directed his gaze toward Li Huo Wang. “In your world of understanding, are there such things as police?”

“We are projections, reflections—then what are they?”

While Qing Wang Lai posed these questions to himself, a husky female voice came from ahead.

“They are rules. Every world has its own set of rules, and they are the rules themselves.”

Soon, a woman in a white cotton shirt walked forward from behind. A lazy yet soft black single braid fell down from her shoulder.

Her vermilion lips parted slowly, continuing to explain to Li Huo Wang, “Don’t expect rules to help you. Rules are rules. Those who rely on rules to solve problems will ultimately be devoured by them.”

“For example, being mistaken for mentally ill and locked up in a psychiatric ward,” Qing Wang Lai joked.

“The real existence is far more complex than you imagine. Do you know why the projections differ in everyone’s minds?”

“In fact, according to my deductions, what everyone thinks is correct. The true existence cannot be imagined by human brains. We can only perceive it through distorting it into a worldview we can understand.”

“It’s like blind men touching an elephant—you feel the trunk, I feel the mouth, Qian Fu feels the teeth, and Wu Qi feels the leg.”

“But I’m different from you all. I don’t touch with hands—I use the most powerful sense organ of humans to explore everything beyond. Mathematics.”

“Therefore, I understand that world more thoroughly than any of you.”

Li Huo Wang stared in shock at the woman before him, then at Qian Fu’s lifeless form on the bed, unsure of what to say.

“Zhao Shuangdian.” The woman extended her slender, fair right hand toward Li Huo Wang. “Pleased to meet you, Li Huo Wang.”

Li Huo Wang opened his mouth slightly before finally speaking. “Have you all gone mad? Don’t you see the dead man here? Qian Fu is dead!”

Qing Wang Lai nodded. “I know. Qian Fu is dead, and everyone is heartbroken. But as adults, we should suppress such emotions and not let them affect important matters.”

“Besides, do you have a close relationship with Qian Fu? Aren’t you also keeping an eye on him? Why are you reacting so strongly now that he’s dead?” A trace of confusion appeared on Qing Wang Lai’s face.

Looking at Qing Wang Lai and Zhao Shuangdian, whose origins were unknown, Li Huo Wang held Yang Na and stepped down from the RV.

“Huo Wang, where are you going? There’s still business to discuss. Don’t you want to know what intelligence I’ve obtained? And besides, Miss Zhao came with people to rescue us—don’t you think you should introduce yourself?”

Li Huo Wang looked down at Yang Na, who was now dazed and tearful, and quickened his pace toward his motorcycle. “I need to take care of my girlfriend. Other matters can wait until next time!”

Laying Yang Na gently in his arms, Li Huo Wang drove his motorcycle home. His face was dark and grim, replaying everything that had happened in his mind, leaving him disoriented and confused.

The residential area soon arrived. Li Huo Wang’s unusual behavior immediately caught others’ attention, but Yang Na, still choking, supported him as he quickly climbed upstairs.

Once home, Yang Na rushed into the bathroom, covering her face.

Seeing her mother about to come out of the kitchen, Li Huo Wang quickly dashed into his room to avoid being seen.

“Son? Are you okay?” Sun Xiaoqin heard the crying from the bathroom and knocked on the door with a metal spoon. “What happened? Did you have a fight? Boys should be more generous.”

“Mom, it’s fine. Go ahead and busy yourself.” Li Huo Wang inserted his severed hand into the gap between the coat rack and the wall, gritting his teeth and slowly straightening it.

“No, I still need to go to the hospital. This injury is too serious for me to handle alone.” Li Huo Wang dragged his severed hand onto the bed and lay down, his face twisted in pain.

Qian Fu was dead—so easily. Even more infuriating was Qing Wang Lai’s attitude.

He had been lying the whole time! That demeanor was absolutely not about suppressing grief. In the face of Qian Fu’s death, there wasn’t even a trace of sorrow in his heart!
