Chapter 258: Storm City

Chapter 258 Storm City

Levi and Diana stepped onto the teleportation array.

In the blink of an eye, the surrounding scenery changed drastically.

Arrived at Storm City.

Thud thud thud! Clang clang clang!

The sound of footsteps and the clash of metal entered Levi's ears.

He opened his eyes to look; surrounding him everywhere were patrolling soldiers.

Not far away stood a towering city wall.

The teleportation array was within an independent fortress.

This was to prevent enemies from using the teleportation array to attack Storm City directly.

It sounded somewhat incredible, but it had happened before.

Every person emerging from the teleportation array was thoroughly checked for identity, only allowed into Storm City after verification.

Levi wore a mage's robe, and the inspector's attitude was very friendly.

After simply checking the magic badge, he greeted him with a smile, saying, "Honorable Mage Lord, welcome to Storm City, wish you a pleasant time in Storm City."

Levi retrieved his magic badge, smiling back, "Thank you."

Levi possessed a mage identity certified by the Element Tower.

Naturally, he could enter Storm City with ease.

He led Diana into the bustling and lively Storm City.

Walking out from the teleportation fortress, noisy hawking sounds entered his ears.

Although Storm City was a war fortress-type city, located in the Central Earth, it remained incredibly lively.

It was not neglected due to its special function.

On the contrary, Storm City was especially welcomed by professionals.

This was the frontline against the undead, with ancient battlefield ruins thousands of years old, containing countless opportunities.

Every professional coming to Storm City wanted to rise above others and return home in glory.

Levi walked on the street crowded with people, asking, "Diana, do you know where the Temple of Light is?"

Diana pointed to the spire in the distance, saying, "That largest cathedral is the Temple of Light."

Levi looked up, only able to see the spire of the Temple of Light.

Atop the spire stood a sculpture of the Holy Maiden of Light.

The sculpture spread its arms, as if embracing the world, embracing all living beings.

Signifying that God loves all people.

Levi walked towards the direction of the Temple of Light.

Thud thud thud! Rumble rumble!

The sound of hooves and wheels came, Levi stopped in his tracks.

He turned his head to look, seeing several carriages hanging noble flags galloping past quickly.

That street was empty and spacious.

Because, that was the main avenue of Storm City.

Leading directly to the city gate and the Lord's Manor.

The Temple of Light was located in the central area of Storm City, opposite the Lord's Manor.

Dividing the entire Storm City into two parts.

From this, one could see the dominance and power of the Temple of Light.

When Levi walked into the area under the influence of the Temple of Light, he often saw people chanting hymns on the street.

Often there were religious fraudsters pulling passersby to preach doctrines.

Levi wearing the mage's robe avoided such troubles.

Even in the Central Earth, mages were still a symbol of nobility.

Ordinary people dared not easily offend them.

Before reaching the Temple of Light, Levi was blocked by a squad of Light Knights.

"Mage Lord, do you have business at the Temple of Light?" the Knight Captain asked.

Ever since Levi walked into this area, he had been watched.

He was a mage, followed by a maid, the image too eye-catching.

Maids were not uncommon.

However, mages bringing maids were relatively rare.

Not to mention, Levi was heading straight towards the Temple of Light all the way.

It quickly attracted the attention of nearby Light Knights.

Thus there was this scene before them.

Levi said, "I have business and wish to meet the Archbishop."

The Light Knight Captain looked at Levi, the virtues of knighthood prevented him from sneering at Levi's overestimation of himself.

He only said, "The Archbishop is busy, please come another day." Not directly telling Levi to get lost was already him respecting the mage, obeying knightly virtues.

How could the Archbishop be seen by just anyone?

Even for him, he might not see the Archbishop once in a year.

Seeing this, the Light Knight Captain's reaction was also within Levi's expectation.

He took out the Holy Emblem of Light, saying, "I have this, can you let me meet the Archbishop?"

The Light Knight Captain saw the Holy Emblem of Light, his whole body shook, hurriedly dismounting.

The Light Knights behind him seeing this, also dismounted one after another.

After clearly seeing the Holy Emblem of Light in Levi's hand, everyone performed the knightly salute.

"I apologize for the previous neglect." the Light Knight Captain said with head bowed.

Levi was somewhat surprised, "What exactly is the Holy Emblem of Light?"

His doubt remained in his heart, not spoken out.

Levi said, "It is fine."

The Light Knight Captain said, "Please Lord first sit in the Temple of Light, wait for us to inform the Archbishop, ask the Archbishop's opinion."

"Okay."

The Paladins of Light escorted Levi and Diana directly to the Temple of Light.

Knowing Levi held the Holy Emblem of Light, the temple clerics received him with rites second only to those for the Pope.

Witnessing this, Levi grew even more curious about the meaning behind the Holy Emblem of Light.

When Toresta had handed him the emblem back then, he wore an air of casual indifference.

It led Levi to believe the emblem was merely a stepping stone, a simple ticket of entry.

He had not expected the Holy Emblem to hold such profound significance for the Temple of Light.

It made him somewhat nervous for a moment, afraid of making any mistake.

"What exactly did Master do in the past?"

Levi wondered intensely in his heart.

How exactly had Toresta obtained the Holy Emblem of Light?

And what meaning did the Holy Emblem truly represent?

"Archbishop, a young mage holding the Holy Emblem of Light wishes to see you."

The cleric who received Levi found the Archbishop.

"Oh?"

The Archbishop was somewhat surprised as well.

There were no young people among the recipients of the Holy Emblem.

Only those who made significant contributions to the Temple, recognized by the Pope or the Saintess, had the chance to receive it.

These people were often individuals of great power.

The most recent Holy Emblem had been awarded fifty years ago.

The legendary warrior who received it was already a century old.

For a legendary warrior, living to one hundred was still considered prime adulthood.

But absolutely no one could call him a young person.

"A descendant of some Holy Emblem holder?"

The Archbishop thought to himself.

He too felt a touch of curiosity.

The Archbishop said, "Bring him to the Hall of Holy Light to see me."

"As you command."

The cleric found Levi, "My lord, the Archbishop awaits you in the Hall of Holy Light."

"Please follow me."

Levi rose and followed the cleric toward the Hall of Holy Light.

The cleric glanced at Diana who followed, stopped, and said, "My lord, please let your maid rest here for now."

Levi turned back to Diana and said, "Stay here and wait for my return."

Diana stopped walking.

The cleric led Levi to the Hall of Holy Light.

The Hall looked much plainer, yet made one feel closer to the Light.

The Temple was magnificent and noble, but the Hall made one yearn for the Light.

Levi even felt the Ring of Arrogance surrounding him fade slightly.

The cleric stood at the door, gesturing with an open hand, "My lord, please enter."

Levi walked into the Hall of Holy Light.
