Chapter 425: Is It Possible That I Am the Great Mage You're Looking For?
After Li Wei returned to Maple Leaf City,
news of his ascension to the rank of Great Mage spread throughout the entire city in an instant.
Almost everyone soon knew he was back.
Yet, very few dared to believe—or were willing to believe—that Li Wei had become a Great Mage.
Young John Bieber, who was currently studying at the academy, nearly dropped his knight's sword in shock when he heard the news.
Since switching from mage training to knighthood, he had fully unleashed the natural talents of the Golden Shield family.
In just one year, he had already become a full-fledged knight,
and was not far from reaching the second level of knighthood.
Such cultivation speed was astonishing, making others envious.
However, there was still someone ahead of him—his elder sister, who was even more outstanding.
While people admired young John Bieber’s talent, they constantly compared him with Lina,
leaving John in an awkward position—
not good enough to surpass his sister, yet still better than most.
The halo of being a prodigy knight that he should have possessed was now gone.
Hearing that Li Wei had become a Great Mage, John felt deeply shaken.
He recalled the times when he studied alongside Li Wei,
and a profound sense of unreality and dislocation washed over him.
He muttered to himself, “How is this possible?”
Unable to resist, John wanted to go find Li Wei to confirm whether it was true or not.
But thinking of Li Wei’s current status, he hesitated slightly.
Li Wei was now a Great Mage—
no longer the classmate who hadn’t even been an apprentice mage back then.
His noble status was awe-inspiring and intimidating.
Still, driven by curiosity, John decided to go take a distant look at Li Wei.
At least he needed to see it with his own eyes.
“If Li Wei has become a Great Mage, I wonder if my sister has become a Great Knight yet?”
Lina had been studying at a top-tier knight academy in Middle Earth for over half a year.
There had been no word from her since she left.
If not for the monthly transfers sent by the Golden Shield family to her account—and someone signing the receipts—
John would have suspected that Lina might be dead.
Why hadn’t she sent any message at all?
John changed out of his conspicuous knight armor and put on simple clothes before hurrying off toward the Mage Tower,
wanting to catch a glimpse of Li Wei.
Upon returning to Maple Leaf City, the first thing Li Wei did was seek out Torresta.
He wanted to uncover Torresta’s true identity.
Now that things had come this far, it was time for the truth to be revealed.
Standing beneath the Mage Tower, Li Wei looked up, narrowing his eyes slightly.
Now, he could sense the spatial separation between the upper two floors of the tower.
This faint perception of space was something he had gained after learning spatial magic.
The sixth and seventh floors were actually connected.
The sixth-floor space enveloped the seventh.
To enter the seventh floor, one must pass through the sixth.
This was what Li Wei perceived while standing outside the Mage Tower.
Now he understood why no one had ever known what lay within the seventh floor.
Because to reach it, one had to defeat Torresta.
Unless Torresta chose to let them pass willingly.
Li Wei walked into the Mage Tower.
Many young faces he didn’t recognize saw the magical badge on his chest and immediately showed respect, stopping to bow.
Rota heard that a Great Mage had arrived.
He hurried out to greet him.
A year after becoming a full-fledged mage, Rota had already risen to the position of Logistics Director of the Mage Tower.
It was usually his responsibility to receive and entertain important guests.
Suddenly receiving a Great Mage made Rota extremely nervous.
He hadn’t prepared for such a reception.
He feared displeasing the visiting Great Mage.
“Your Excellency the Great Mage, forgive me for not welcoming you properly,”
Rota said as he stepped forward.
Hearing the familiar voice, Li Wei turned his head and smiled. “Master Rota, why have you become so polite?”
Recognizing the voice, Rota paused momentarily.
Looking up at Li Wei, he realized it really was him and immediately beamed with joy.
“Ah! Li Wei, you’re back!”
“You should’ve told me earlier—I could’ve had your room cleaned up.”
“Oh right, Li Wei, wait a moment. We can catch up later. Today, a Great Mage has come to the Maple Leaf City Mage Tower. I need to give them proper hospitality.”
After his initial excitement, Rota quickly explained.
Li Wei wore a strange expression.
Rota craned his neck, searching outside for the Great Mage.
After a brief silence, Li Wei said to Rota, “You know, the Great Mage you’re looking for—what if he’s standing right in front of you?”
Rota looked at Li Wei and asked hastily, “Where?”
Li Wei pointed to himself.
Rota glanced behind Li Wei but saw no one there.
Li Wei said helplessly, "Is it possible that I am the great mage you're looking for?"
Luo Ta was startled upon hearing this.
"Ah!"
Only then did Luo Ta react, quickly scanning the magical badge on Li Wei's chest.
Seeing the great mage's magical badge, he was instantly shaken to his core.
His pupils contracted sharply, his face filled with disbelief.
"You... you... you've become a great mage?"
Luo Ta's speech became somewhat stammered.
He was shocked beyond measure.
For a moment, he didn't know what to say.
Li Wei nodded seriously and said, "Yes."
Luo Ta fell silent.
Seeing that he might not recover for a while, Li Wei patted his shoulder.
"Master Luo Ta, I'll go find the teacher first."
"No need to trouble you with hospitality."
Li Wei smiled and walked into the mage tower.
Luo Ta stood frozen in place.
The people around them looked at Li Wei's retreating figure, all showing expressions of incredulous shock.
Some were utterly delighted.
"Is that Li Wei? That supreme mage prodigy from Maple Leaf City?"
"My idol! I've finally seen my idol!"
"Wah! Lord Li Wei is so handsome!"
"Lord Li Wei is so powerful!"
The mage apprentices who regarded Li Wei as their idol instantly transformed into mindless fanatic fans.
They worshipped him without bounds, praised him without limit.
At this moment, the status of deities in their hearts could not compare to Li Wei.
Li Wei was god, was the one and only!
Li Wei arrived at the third floor of the mage tower, seeing the magical butler whose appearance was identical to Kuro.
For a moment, he was dazed, almost calling out Kuro's name.
Li Wei felt he might have been affected by Luo Ta's emotions just now.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have had such an illusion.
Li Wei said, "I want to go to the sixth floor."
After a moment, the magical butler replied, "The portal to the sixth floor has been opened, Lord Mage Li Wei, please proceed."
In the magical butler's memory database, Li Wei's information was still from six months ago, not yet updated.
However, six months ago Li Wei had already obtained the qualification to freely travel to the sixth floor.
There was no need to trouble Torresta because of this matter.
Li Wei passed through the portal and arrived at the sixth floor of the mage tower.
This was an independent space.
Only the portal from the third floor could reach here.
The sixth floor remained as it always was.
Dozens of stone pillars supported the ceiling and floor, with no walls, surrounded by boundless clear blue sky.
Li Wei looked toward the figure at the center of the sixth floor.
Torresta was as usual, sitting in the center of the sixth floor, his back to Li Wei.
But starting from today, everything in the future would be different.
