Chapter 373: Pursuit

Chapter 373: The Pursuit

It took Li Wei some time to find the Ten Thousand Corpse Pit.

He hurriedly shouted, "Savinia, wake up quickly."

This was the secret signal agreed upon between him and Savinia.

Only when Savinia heard the signal would she deactivate her feign-death skill.

Otherwise, if too much time passed without Li Wei arriving, Savinia would automatically deactivate the feign-death skill and figure out how to leave the Ten Thousand Corpse Pit on her own.

In the feign-death state, Savinia could perceive external movements.

However, her perception ability was far weaker than usual.

Li Wei shouted more than ten times before Savinia finally heard his voice.

She deactivated the feign-death skill, and her soul fire became active once more.

"Ah! Spit! I'm here!"

Savinia's head was pressed beneath a pile of corpses, so her voice could not get through.

However, Li Wei's perception had been spread out around them.

He soon noticed something abnormal, and upon closer inspection, he spotted Savinia's head.

He hurriedly lifted the corpses and pulled Savinia's head out.

"Spit spit spit, it's filthy."

Savinia spat out the bloodwater from her mouth, revealing an expression of disgust.

"Ahhh! I'm dirty, I want to change my head."

Savinia screamed loudly.

Li Wei used Mage Hand to hold her head and flew rapidly toward the distance.

"Your head probably can't be changed, right?"

Li Wei still had the mood to joke.

After leaving Storm City, he felt much more relaxed.

Savinia's expression froze.

Indeed, it couldn't be changed.

"I don't care, I don't care, I got dirty, wuwu..."

"Alright, stop making noise, I'll find a place to wash you."

Li Wei flew quickly through the air.

He did not rush to take the Spatial Ring out from Savinia's head.

Now her head was filthy to death, and Li Wei didn't even want to touch it.

Wash it clean first, then worry about the rest.

Soon, Li Wei found a small stream.

He directly threw Savinia's head into the stream.

Glug glug glug!

Bubbles emerged from Savinia's mouth and nose.

She choked on water, "Cough cough cough, do you want to drown me?"

"Do undead need to breathe? Can they drown?" Li Wei asked back.

Savinia's head sank to the riverbed, gazing at Li Wei across the water for a moment of thought.

She realized she seemingly wouldn't drown.

But, it was also very uncomfortable.

"Cough cough cough! You fish me out quickly, this place is unbearable."

Li Wei fished Savinia's head out of the water.

Seeing the bloodstains still on her face and hair covered in various filth, he frowned.

He changed the shape of the Mage Hand into a rotating bucket.

He tossed Savinia's head inside and spun it rapidly in the river water to wash away the grime on her body.

"Ahhh! What are you doing!"

"Let go of me, once I recover my strength, I will definitely beat you to death!"

"Ahhh!"

"Glug glug!"

"Puff puff puff!"

At the beginning, Savinia would still shout and scream.

After being shaken for a while, she passed out.

A few minutes later, Li Wei lifted Savinia's head out of the water.

Only then did he feel it looked much better.

"Cleaned," Li Wei smiled.

Savinia's expression was like she had been ruined, staring blankly.

"Alright, spit out the Spatial Ring quickly."

Upon hearing this, Savinia's expression gradually returned to normal.

She looked at Li Wei, burning with anger.

"Damn it! I will definitely make you taste this kind of flavor!"

"Ahhh! Don't reach in, it's too big, vomit..."

Saliva dripped from Savinia's lips. Her gaze was resentful.

Li Wei washed the Spatial Ring clean and glanced at Savinia who was staring at him.

He shook his head and said, "I told you to spit it out yourself, you insisted I have to dig it out by hand."

"Couldn't you be gentler! You even dug out my brain!"

Savinia complained.

"What difference does it make if an undead has a brain or not?"

Li Wei sneered coldly.

"Hmph! Hurry up and find me a body."

"Oh, there happens to be a skeleton monster over there, just use its body."

Li Wei activated the Golden Bone Ring, and a skeletal monster emerged from the woods.

It voluntarily removed its own skull, placing Savinia's head upon its neck.

Savinia, now possessing a new body, let out a sigh of relief.

She had finally regained some of her strength.

No longer did she need to be subject to Li Wei's control.

Savinia intended that upon returning, she would immediately beg her master to forge a more powerful vessel for her.

Then, she would seek revenge against Li Wei!

Just as this thought crossed her mind, she sensed a massive threat drawing near.

She hurriedly glanced at Li Wei and cried out, "There is danger!"

Li Wei looked upward, his expression grave.

Beneath the gloomy sky, a streak of golden light sped rapidly toward them.

"I see it," he murmured.

Li Wei reached out, grasping Savinia, and unleashed Fire Escape, fleeing at high speed.

To avoid detection, he deliberately flew low to the ground, skimming through the trees.

Yet, it proved utterly futile.

Glancing back, he saw the golden light in the sky rushing directly for him.

Li Wei assumed it was Lancelot, his heart filled with anxiety.

A summoning rune stone materialized in his hand.

If it were indeed Lancelot, he would have to summon the Elder of Fire Elements to intercept.

Li Wei turned to Savinia and shouted, "Is there no way for you to contact your master?"

"Tell him to come help us immediately; we are being hunted!"

Savinia's heart trembled, and she hastily replied, "Wait a moment, I shall attempt to reach my master."

"My master instructed you to find your own solution; he has been blocked by the High Priest of the Light Temple."

Li Wei's expression shifted slightly as he turned to look back.

Had Lancelot clashed with the Legendary Lich?

That meant the pursuer was not Lancelot, then?

In that case, perhaps there was a chance to fight.

Li Wei stowed the summoning rune stone away.

Within the Light Temple, aside from Lancelot, no one possessed legendary-level combat power.

Others were merely pseudo-legendary at best.

Inside Storm City, they could only unleash pseudo-legendary power with the Light Temple's blessing.

Now, out in the wilderness, stripped of that blessing...

The newcomer was at most Peak Stage Six.

He had slain enemies of Peak Stage Six before.

He held many methods capable of dealing with such formidable foes.

Carrying Savinia, however, he could not fly fast.

The pursuer's speed was astonishing, actually managing to catch up to Li Wei while he utilized Fire Escape.

As they drew near, Li Wei made out the newcomer's features.

"It is him!"

The pursuer was Grand Priest Ortega.

The leader among the three Grand Priests, and the strongest in power.

Even in his normal state, his strength was already Peak Stage Six.

Invincible against all within Stage Six.

With the Light Temple's power bolstering him, he could even explode forth pseudo-legendary strength.

He had once used such power to severely wound Minotaur Anon, hailed as the strongest Stage Six undead.

Minotaur Anon could defeat four Stage Six Paladins attacking in unison single-handedly.

Clearly, his reputation was not exaggerated.

Ortega's strength was thus unimaginable, surpassing even four Stage Six Paladins combined.

He stared fixedly at Li Wei's figure.

Through the Light Temple's "Divine Revelation Art," he already knew the Goddess Tear rested in Li Wei's possession.
