Chapter 372: Leaving the City
Chapter 372: Departing the City
Savinia had already departed Storm City with the space ring holding the Goddess's Tears.
Levi was also preparing to leave.
He glanced at Elizabeth with curiosity and asked, "The defenses of Storm City are so severe; how did you enter?"
Elizabeth replied, "When we entered, the defenses were not yet this severe."
"Previously, a section of the wall collapsed under the aftershocks of a forbidden spell, and the defensive magic array there was damaged. Myself and Savinia took the opportunity to slip through there."
"Now, the breach has been repaired, making it impossible to exit from that way."
Levi asked, "Then what will you do?"
Elizabeth said, "I am merely a clone; dying within Storm City would not matter."
"If possible, I should take the opportunity to sneak out of Storm City when the Light Temple's martial law is not so severe."
"Even if I cannot get out in the end, it does not matter; the impact is minimal."
In fact, being unable to leave Storm City was far less easy than Elizabeth claimed.
To enter the city and find the Goddess's Tears, Elizabeth had brought most of her power into Storm City.
If viewed purely from the perspective of power, the one outside seemed more like a clone.
If the Elizabeth inside the city died, the Elizabeth outside could still live, but her strength would drop by half.
Her peak sixth-rank strength might directly plummet to mid-sixth rank.
The loss was immensely grievous.
She had not told Levi these things.
Levi nodded and said, "Then let us meet again if there is a chance. I am leaving."
"Goodbye."
Watching Levi walk away, Elizabeth turned and vanished within the city.
She had a premonition that she might not survive long within Storm City.
Her presence appeared where the Goddess's Tears had once manifested.
If a priest of the Light Temple had visited that place, they would likely sense her existence, and then might trace her back along the clues.
A ghost caught by a priest of the Light Temple had almost no power to resist.
Elizabeth walked in the direction opposite to Levi.
Levi reached the city gate, where a Holy Knight blocked his path.
"Lord Mage, why do you wish to leave Storm City?" the Holy Knight asked thusly.
Levi looked at him and retorted unceremoniously, "I am a mage of the Element Tower; am I not allowed to return to the Element Tower?"
Hearing this, the Holy Knight hurriedly said, "Oh, it is Lord Mage of the Element Tower. Please cooperate with the Light Temple's inspection and hand over all spatial storage items."
Levi's eyes narrowed, staring at the Holy Knight.
"How? You still want to touch my private belongings? Who gave your people of the Light Temple such audacity? Dare to search the private items of an Element Tower mage."
At this moment, one could not lose the momentum.
The more cautious one was, the easier it was to arouse suspicion.
Facing Levi's aggressive questioning, the Holy Knight felt immense pressure.
Feeling a spiritual pressure coming from a powerful mage.
At this time, a priest of the Light Temple walked over.
The priest smiled and said, "Lord Mage Levi, why are you so angry? Did something happen?"
Hearing this, the Holy Knight turned around and quickly bowed to greet, "Sir Priest."
Levi turned his head and saw it was an acquaintance.
Priest Illis had received Levi several times before, and both knew each other well.
Levi looked at Illis and calmly said, "Your Light Temple searching is one thing, but why inspect the space rings? Don't you know many things mages possess cannot be shown to others?"
Priest Illis hurriedly said, "Lord Mage Levi, do not worry. If anything was done incorrectly, please forgive me."
"We inspect the space rings to ensure contraband items do not leak out of Storm City."
Levi showed a look of surprise and asked, "Oh? What contraband items? Could it really cause such a commotion for the Light Temple? Is it the Goddess's Tears?"
Priest Illis shook his head and said, "Lord Mage Levi, please do not guess wildly. The Light Temple has already recovered the Goddess's Tears; these are some contraband items involving secrets."
Levi coldly sneered in his heart, Believe you? Hell no!
Full of nonsense.
These charlatans truly cannot be trusted even for a single word.
All of them are deceiving ghosts.
Seeing Levi insist on not letting anyone check his space ring, Priest Illis spoke.
He said, "How about this, Lord Levi, open the space ring, and we will use a detection spell to confirm there are no contraband items inside the space ring."
Levi's expression relaxed slightly, though he did not agree immediately.
Instead, he hesitated for a long while before assuming an appearance of reluctant agreement.
"Out of respect for you, Illis, let us check it then."
"There cannot possibly be any contraband items inside my space ring!" Levi stated firmly.
He took out the space ring and opened it.
Allowing the divine detection spell power released by Priest Illis to enter the space ring.
After a moment, he shook his head, indicating nothing was found.
He used a divine detection spell on Levi, his eyes moving slightly.
"Lord Mage Levi, you still have a space ring on your person."
Levi showed a thoughtful expression, and after a moment, pulled out several rings from his pocket.
"Oh, if you hadn't mentioned it, I almost forgot. These space rings are barely used; I didn't even remember having these things."
Hearing this, Priest Illis's eye corner twitched violently.
Are you showing off?
Inside his heart, he actually suspected Levi hid something within the space ring.
Although Lancelot had not told him he suspected Levi, Lancelot had instructed him to send someone to watch Levi.
Illis then knew that the relationship between Lancelot and Levi was not as good as it appeared on the surface.
Suspecting that Lancelot might harbor suspicions toward Levi.
After checking the other few space rings in Levi's hand, he showed a look of disappointment.
No trace of the Goddess's Tears was found.
“Farewell, Magister Li Wei,” Priest Ilis said.
Li Wei shook his head, silent, walking toward the city outskirts.
He wore a thoroughly displeased expression.
The Light Knight gazed at Priest Ilis, hesitating to speak.
“Reverend, is this truly advisable?”
He meant releasing Li Wei without thoroughly inspecting his spatial ring first.
What if Dong XZ were hidden inside his spatial ring?
Ilis stated, “I have inspected it; there is no scent of the Goddess’s Tear.”
Li Wei departed Storm City, making his way toward the teleportation array.
Ilis stood upon the city wall, watching Li Wei below, and only turned away once she saw him return to the Tower of Elements.
Li Wei’s phantom form teleported back to the Tower of Elements.
His true body, draped in an invisibility cloak, quietly crept toward the Pit of Ten Thousand Corpses.
Inside the Temple of Light, after finishing the troublesome matters that had plagued Lancelot these past few days.
One person came to mind.
He sought out someone to ask, “Where is Li Wei?”
“Report, Archbishop, Magister Li Wei left the Temple of Light prior to the Miracle Ritual and is now missing.”
Lancelot’s gaze hardened. “Find him!”
