Chapter 385: Space Spells

Chapter 385: Spatial Magic

Everyone arrived early at the Tower of Space.

The exchange competition wouldn’t begin for two more days.

During these two days, everyone had time to familiarize themselves with the Tower of Space.

They could wander and study within its walls.

Compared to the Elemental Tower, the Tower of Space housed far fewer people.

Unlike the Elemental Tower, which had outer floating cities inhabited by hundreds of thousands of ordinary folk, the Tower of Space numbered only around ten thousand souls in total.

It consisted of just one mage tower.

From the outside, it appeared much smaller than the Elemental Tower, but internally, its space was vastly larger.

Though small like a sparrow, it possessed all the essential organs.

Within the Tower of Space were shops, plazas, secret realms—everything one might need.

Li Wei and Eris walked along the streets inside the Tower of Space.

Externally, the Tower looked like a simple nine-story structure.

But internally, it concealed profound mysteries.

Each floor was an independent spatial realm.

Before entering, Li Wei hadn’t expected to find what amounted to a full-fledged town within.

This alone demonstrated how highly skilled the mages of the Tower of Space truly were in spatial arts.

Li Wei asked, “Can we go to the library in the Tower of Space to learn magic?”

Eris replied, “You can go read books if you want, but don’t expect to learn any spells.”

“Although this is supposedly an exchange between top-tier mage towers, they certainly won’t hand over their key techniques for free.”

Li Wei said, “Then is there really no way to learn anything from the Tower of Space?”

Eris responded, “Not exactly. There are rewards during the exchange tournament that include opportunities to study certain spells within a given scope. Whether or not you actually master them is another matter entirely.”

He glanced sideways at Li Wei and added, “As an elemental mage with zero foundation in spatial magic, learning such spells will be extremely difficult.”

“All magic must be learned step by step from low to high levels. Learning zero-rank or first-rank spatial spells won’t do you much good anyway.”

Upon hearing that the tournament offered chances to study spells, Li Wei began forming ideas.

However, he didn’t wish to reveal too much during the competition.

Li Wei asked again, “Is there really no other method?”

Eris answered, “There is—one of the simplest ways is simply buying it.”

Li Wei shook his head; he hadn’t brought much money when he came here.

Still, he did have several valuable items on him:

A sixth-rank magical core from a Poison Scorpion Lord, Earthflow Slime, Dragon Drool Grass, leaves from a Blood Dragon Tree...

These were all precious materials.

In addition, he carried cores from some fourth- and fifth-rank magical beasts. Selling those should fetch him several thousand gold coins.

If he pooled everything together, coming up with ten thousand gold shouldn’t pose a problem.

Eris said, “I’m going to check out the library in the Tower of Space. Are you coming?”

Li Wei quickly replied, “Yes, I’ll come too.”

Seeing how well-acquainted Eris seemed with the place, Li Wei curiously asked, “Have you been here before?”

Eris smiled and said, “I once studied here as an exchange student. Spent about half a year here—I’d say I know my way around.”

“Eris.”

At the sound of his name, both turned toward the right side.

A woman dressed in silver robes called out to Eris.

Eris looked slightly surprised but smiled back warmly. “Milan, long time no see.”

Milan approached, and Li Wei noticed the magical badge on her chest bore three crescent moons.

That meant Milan was a third-rank spatial mage.

Feeling Li Wei’s gaze upon her, Milan turned to look at him.

Eris introduced them, “Milan, let me introduce Li Wei—he's also a student in the Purple Class of the Elemental Tower.”

Meeting eyes briefly, Li Wei greeted politely, “Hello, nice to meet you.”

Milan expressed surprise, “So you’re also a member of the Purple Class? Then surely Master Li Wei must be quite strong!”

Modestly, Li Wei replied, “No, no—not really. My strength is quite average. I’ve only recently joined the Purple Class.”

With a chuckle, Eris added, “Don’t believe his modesty, Milan. He’s actually quite formidable.” Then looking at Milan, he continued, “Haven’t broken through to the fourth rank yet?”

Shaking her head, Milan sighed, “Lately I’ve felt a breakthrough opportunity approaching, unfortunately I couldn’t seize it.”

Eris reassured her, “No rush. Your Tower doesn’t impose graduation deadlines anyway.”

Due to the limited number of mages and the extreme difficulty of mastering spatial magic,

the Tower placed virtually no restrictions on students.

One could stay indefinitely, provided they wished.

After all, aside from abundant space, nothing else was particularly plentiful here—it wasn’t hard to find room for one more resident.

The trio headed off toward the library.

As they walked, Milan and Eris caught up on past events and recent experiences.

Li Wei listened quietly beside them, occasionally observing his surroundings.

It turned out Milan and Eris met while Eris was studying here as an exchange student.

Back then, Eris had already reached the third rank, whereas Milan was still merely a high-level second-rank spatial mage.

Several years later, Eris had advanced to the fifth rank, while Milan remained troubled by breaking into the Great Mage tier.

Primarily due to the immense challenge inherent in cultivating spatial magic.

Yet, spatial mages were undeniably powerful.

Generally stronger than peers of equal level.

Whether in offense, defense, or escape ability, among all types of mages, spatial mages ranked among the elite.

Just as they neared the entrance to the library, Milan suddenly wore a worried expression.

“Oh no, oh no! I nearly forgot—I came out to buy materials for my mentor!” She hurriedly said, “Eris, next time we chat. I still need to deliver these supplies to my mentor. Goodbye!”

Having said that, Milan directly cast a spatial spell and vanished on the spot.

Eris shook his head helplessly, feeling that Milan was still the same as before—nothing had changed in all these years.

He looked ahead and said, "Let's go, the library is right up there."

"If you want to purchase spells, just look for the librarian."

"Mm, I know," Levi replied.

The two walked toward the library.

After showing their magic badges, they successfully entered the library.

"Welcome, Magister Eris from the Elemental Tower."

"Welcome, Magister Levi from the Elemental Tower."

As they entered, voices announced their arrival.

Levi was not surprised by this.

The Sacred Vilia Library of the Elemental Tower had similar functions.

Eris walked straight into the library interior—he seemed to have come specifically to find some materials.

Before leaving, he told Levi where the library administrator was located.

Following the direction Eris had indicated, Levi discovered a small door in a corner.

Looking at the door embedded in the wall, he wondered if it might be decorative.

After hesitating for a moment, he knocked on the door.

Knock knock knock!

"Hello, is anyone there?" Levi asked.

The door opened silently.

Levi peered inside and saw a spacious room.

This was another independent space.

"Just wait a moment, I'll be right out."

Levi stepped into the room and heard the voice coming from the adjacent bedroom.

He obediently waited in the living room.

Glancing around, the items in the living room were somewhat disheveled, suggesting the room's owner didn't care much for tidiness.

"I'm ready. What brings you here?"

A burly white-bearded old man emerged.

His collar was unbuttoned, revealing his muscular chest beneath.

One could truly wonder whether his profession was warrior or mage.
