Chapter 386: Space Exchange Spell
Chapter 386: The Art of Spatial Exchange
"Hello, I'd like to purchase a spatial magic spell," Li Wei said.
The white-bearded old man looked at Li Wei and replied, "If you want to learn spatial magic, why don't you just go study it yourself? Why come to me?"
"Wait... aren't you a mage from the Space Tower?"
Only upon noticing the mage's robe on Li Wei did the old man realize his mistake.
Li Wei nodded. "Mm, I'm a mage from the Elemental Tower."
"Tsk tsk tsk, what does an elemental mage want with spatial magic?" the white-bearded old man said.
He waved his hand dismissively. "Don't waste your money. Spatial magic isn't something just anyone can learn."
Li Wei replied, "I won't know if I can learn it until I try."
Hearing this, the old man glanced at him and said, "Fine, if you want to waste your money, go ahead. What kind of spatial magic do you want?"
Li Wei said, "A spatial magic that can open passages to secret realms."
The white-bearded old man stared at him with widened eyes. "Are you out of your mind?"
"Do you even know what level of magic you're talking about?"
Li Wei shook his head. "No."
"Fourth-tier magic—the Spatial Rending Spell!" The old man calmed down and explained.
"Have you ever learned any spatial magic before?" he asked.
Li Wei shook his head again. "No."
"Not even zero-tier spatial magic?" the old man pressed.
Li Wei continued shaking his head. "No."
"Forget about it. You should go home right now. With no experience at all, wanting to learn the Spatial Rending Spell is absolutely impossible," the old man said.
"I suggest you just hire a spatial mage to help you instead. You won't be able to learn it."
Li Wei seriously considered the old man's suggestion.
"Well, it's not entirely impossible."
"But still, I want to give it a try—to see if I can actually learn it..." Li Wei said sincerely.
The white-bearded old man was so angry he puffed up his beard and glared. "Why won't you listen to reason!"
The old man was truly a person of temperament.
He shook his head and sighed. "Forget it. No matter how much I say, it's useless. People like you won't give up until you hit a wall."
The white-bearded old man extended his right hand, which disappeared into thin air.
Li Wei showed a look of amazement.
In mid-air, his right hand fumbled around for a moment before pulling out a silver spellbook.
The white-bearded old man handed the spellbook to Li Wei. "This Spatial Exchange Art is a first-tier spatial magic I created myself. If you want to learn spatial magic, start by trying this exchange art."
"If you can't even learn the exchange art, then don't waste money buying the Spatial Rending Spell."
Li Wei was somewhat surprised as he took the spellbook and asked, "This doesn't cost anything?"
"What are you thinking?" the old man said. "I'm just lending it to you to look at, so you'll come to your senses. Don't tell me you really think you can learn a spatial magic in such a short time?"
Li Wei smiled. Actually, I really can.
He didn't argue with the old man, but directly opened the spellbook.
He began studying the magical model within.
His mental energy perceived the spatial exchange art model inside the spellbook.
Li Wei clearly sensed that spatial magic models were far more complex than elemental magic models.
Spatial magic models were dynamic, constantly changing magical constructs.
One needed to establish spatial coordinates within the magical model to cast them successfully.
This was far more complicated than elemental magic models.
Most importantly, the spatial coordinates were continuously shifting.
Spatial coordinates were a relative concept.
If Li Wei used himself as the origin point, he would need to establish a coordinate system suitable for spatial magic based on himself.
Besides establishing a spatial coordinate system with oneself as the origin, there was also the commonly accepted fixed spatial coordinate system used by spatial mages.
This was primarily used for constructing intercity teleportation arrays and planar teleportation arrays.
[Spatial Exchange Art (First-Tier Beginner)] 0/1000
Li Wei had learned it, but couldn't use it yet.
Having never studied any knowledge related to spatial mages, he had no clear concept of spatial coordinates whatsoever.
Therefore, he was unable to use spatial magic.
Holding the spellbook, Li Wei's consciousness entered the dream world.
Seeing Li Wei staring intently at the spellbook as if lost in deep thought, the white-bearded old man didn't disturb him and turned to attend to his own affairs.
Though it appeared Li Wei was staring at the spellbook, his mind had actually entered the dream world.
He was in a semi-dreaming, semi-awake state.
In the dream world, he utilized the eightfold time flow rate to continuously experiment with and practice the Spatial Exchange Art.
Failure after failure, summary after summary of experience.
Soon, Li Wei figured out how to apply spatial coordinates.
The white-bearded old man Claude came out of his room and saw Li Wei still standing in place, somewhat surprised.
"Why haven't you left yet?"
Claude noticed Li Wei had put down the spellbook and asked curiously.
Putting down the spellbook meant he had given up on learning spatial magic.
Claude never imagined someone could learn a first-tier spatial magic from scratch—never having touched any spatial magic before—in just one hour.
Even apprentice mages from the Space Tower needed extensive preliminary knowledge training before they could learn spatial magic.
The most important aspect was spatial perception ability.
Spatial mages with sufficiently high talent possessed extremely strong spatial perception abilities.
For them, there was no need to rely on spatial coordinate systems to cast spells.
Casting spatial magic was more like an instinct, requiring no external assistance.
Ordinary spatial mages must meticulously calculate spatial coordinates when casting teleportation spells.
One misstep could result in being teleported into solid earth.
Minor consequences included injury; severe ones meant losing one's life.
Natural-born spatial mages needed only a thought to teleport to exact locations with perfect precision.
Learning spatial magic demanded extraordinary innate talent.
Claude detected no such talent in Levi whatsoever.
Upon hearing his voice, Levi looked up and said, "I've mastered the Spatial Object Exchange spell."
Claude's expression shifted to one of astonishment.
"What did you say?"
Seeing Claude's disbelief, Levi casually picked up a book beside him.
He cast the Spatial Object Exchange spell.
Whoosh.
The book in his hand transformed into a vase.
A vase on a nearby table became a book.
The function of the Spatial Object Exchange spell was to swap two objects of roughly equal mass and volume.
Only upon reaching advanced levels could one exchange large objects for small ones, or vice versa.
But it could only swap inanimate objects.
Living beings remained beyond its reach.
Claude stared at the vase in Levi's hand, shock evident on his face.
He sensed the spatial fluctuations.
Levi had actually learned the Spatial Object Exchange spell.
This was a minor spell he himself had created.
As a mage of the Elemental Tower, Levi could never have encountered it before.
Which meant that in just one hour, Levi had learned a first-rank spatial spell.
Claude's gaze changed.
He fixed his eyes on Levi, carefully perceiving his talent.
The more he perceived, the more bewildered he became.
Levi possessed not a shred of spatial talent.
Those with spatial talent could naturally merge with space itself.
Like fish and water.
Yet Levi showed no sign of spatial integration whatsoever.
