Chapter 414: Fatal Damage
Chapter 414: Fatal Injury
Li Wei said that Nethro's strength had reached the semi-legendary level.
No one raised any objections.
The situation was clear enough.
Even if Nethro hadn't yet acquired the power of a semi-legendary being, it was only a matter of time before it would continue devouring the Purple Star Stones.
Forget about semi-legendary—it wasn’t even impossible for it to break through to full legendary status.
Li Wei even began to suspect whether the Spatial Tower was deliberately cultivating a legendary-level Nethro.
It wasn’t just Li Wei; elders and team leaders watching from within the Spatial Tower were all in an uproar.
“How could you design such a competition? Why bury Purple Star Stones beneath the arena?”
“Didn’t you know that Purple Star Stones would stimulate the awakening of Nethro’s bloodline power?”
“At this rate, Nethro’s strength might surpass the seventh tier.”
“Cancel the exchange match, recall everyone, and deal with Nethro first.”
“I object! It’s merely one Nethro—we don’t need to halt the entire competition because of it.”
“That’s right. Today’s young mages haven’t faced many real dangers—they have no idea how treacherous the outside world can be. This is actually a good opportunity for them to experience some peril.”
“Besides, everything remains under the control of the Spatial Tower. We’ll rescue every participant promptly when necessary.”
The situation hadn’t spiraled completely out of control yet.
The proposal to cancel the match was not adopted.
The competition continued.
Nethro had already destroyed the ninth arena and was now consuming the ninth Purple Star Stone.
Watching the stone, Li Wei felt a stirring in his heart.
Since attacking Nethro externally proved futile, perhaps he should strike from within instead.
After devouring the ninth Purple Star Stone, Nethro’s aura surged once more.
Everyone scrambled for ways to counter the rapidly strengthening creature.
If things kept going like this, they might have to prematurely end the match.
Twenty-five arenas—nine had already been demolished by Nethro. Sixteen remained.
Nethro advanced toward its next target.
Once Li Wei identified where Nethro was heading, he activated Fire Release and arrived at the destination ahead of time.
The arena master had long since fled upon hearing the news.
Now, no one dared stand in front of Nethro.
Arriving on the platform, Li Wei attempted to destroy the arena himself.
He discovered that the arena possessed extremely high magical resistance—only a terrifying force akin to Nethro’s could shatter such a solid structure.
He retrieved the Purple Star Stone buried underneath.
"Why are you still here? That monster is coming," Ellica appeared from nearby woods.
She looked at Li Wei and warned him.
Seeing her, Li Wei’s eyes lit up.
"Ellica, help me out."
"Hmm? Help with what?" she asked curiously.
"Destroy the arena and take out the Purple Star Stone inside," Li Wei replied quickly.
Ellica stared at him. "You want to get the stone first so the beast can’t reach it?"
"Good idea."
Her eyes brightened as she thought Li Wei’s plan was brilliant.
Holding onto the Purple Star Stone was far better than leaving it buried underground waiting for monsters to dig it up.
Li Wei shook his head. “No, I’m going to give Nethro something special.”
“No time to explain—help me destroy the arena!”
Thinking it over, Ellica decided to assist.
Walking onto the arena floor, she took a deep breath and slammed her fist hard into the ground.
Boom!
The arena trembled but showed no signs of damage.
Frowning slightly, Ellica narrowed her eyes and focused intently.
“Serious punch!”
With all her might—
Boom! Crack!
Cracks spread across the surface of the arena floor.
"Not enough! Serious combo!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
By the time Ellica stopped, the magical formation embedded in the ground had already failed.
Li Wei used telekinesis to lift the broken section and expose the Purple Star Stone.
He pulled out his Poison Dragon Sac and squeezed a single drop of deadly venom onto the stone.
Glancing at the sac in Li Wei’s hand, Ellica instinctively stepped back several paces, sensing danger radiating from it.
Sssss...
As the poison dripped onto the Purple Star Stone, it corroded a small pit into the surface.
Even Li Wei was surprised—he hadn’t expected Wind Poison Dragon venom to be this potent.
Quickly putting away the sac, he took out Goddess Tears to wash his hands.
Noticing the lingering poison residue on the stone, he hurriedly left.
"All set—let’s go."
Ellica had already run off the moment Li Wei brought out the Poison Dragon Sac.
The vapor rising from the corroding Purple Star Stone was toxic enough to affect transcendental-class practitioners.
Only because Li Wei carried Goddess Tears did he dare use the Wind Poison Dragon’s poison sac so recklessly.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The earth shook and the mountains trembled as Nitor's figure emerged from the forest.
Li Wei and Erika had already departed, hiding nearby to observe Nitor's movements.
Nitor discovered that the Purple Star Stones had already been excavated and discarded on the ground.
It seemed somewhat surprised.
However, without any hesitation, it directly picked up the Purple Star Stones and consumed them.
Seeing Nitor ingest the highly toxic Purple Star Stones, Li Wei excitedly clenched his fists.
Excellent, it's been hit.
Now all that remained was to wait for the poison to take effect.
The time it took for the poison to manifest its effects was longer than Li Wei had anticipated.
Perhaps it was because Nitor's body was too massive, or perhaps it inherently possessed strong poison resistance.
After consuming the tenth Purple Star Stone, Nitor moved toward its next target.
It appeared completely unaffected.
Li Wei was also somewhat surprised.
"What's going on? Could it be that the Wind Poison Dragon's deadly toxin has no effect on Nitor?"
"That shouldn't be! The Wind Poison Dragon's poison works even on legendary creatures."
Li Wei scratched his head, finding it rather unbelievable.
Suddenly, Nitor's figure began to sway slightly.
Li Wei noticed immediately.
As he observed Nitor's form swaying more and more violently,
a smile spread across his face.
"So it was just that the onset time was too long. I thought it was ineffective. That scared me."
After being poisoned, Nitor's body emitted a purple glow that flickered between bright and dim.
Li Wei watched Nitor with eager anticipation.
Suddenly, the purple light around Nitor blazed brilliantly, transforming into a faint purple mist that enveloped Nitor's form.
Nitor's entire fur turned purplish-black.
It remained motionless in place.
Li Wei's expression turned to astonishment.
"What's happening here?"
Whoosh!
A figure appeared beside Li Wei.
Erika showed a vigilant expression, about to launch an attack on the approaching Shadow Servant.
Li Wei stopped her. "Hold your fire."
The Shadow Servant remained by Li Wei's side, causing Erika to look surprised.
She hadn't expected this peculiar-looking Nitor to not attack Li Wei.
The Shadow Servant gazed at the giant Nitor, communicating with Li Wei through telepathy.
"When Nitor encounters mortal danger, it evolves and transforms by adapting to that fatal threat. It is currently undergoing transformation."
Upon hearing this, Li Wei's heart skipped a beat.
The good news was that the Wind Poison Dragon's toxin had indeed affected Nitor.
And had caused mortal damage.
The bad news was that Nitor possessed extremely strong adaptive abilities.
It could adapt to the Wind Poison Dragon's deadly poison.
Whoosh!
The purple mist around Nitor began to spread.
An alarm bell rang in Erika's mind as she quickly retreated, moving away from the mist.
Li Wei inhaled a breath and couldn't help but cough, "Cough cough~"
His face turned somewhat purple.
The mist was poisonous.
