Chapter 419: Reward: Book of Truth
Chapter 419: The Reward, The Book of Truth
The day after Levi returned to the Spatial Tower.
The elders of the Spatial Tower announced that the exchange tournament rewards would be distributed as scheduled.
Everyone was immensely curious as to how these rewards would be handed out.
After all, in the end, every single challenge arena had been utterly destroyed.
According to the tournament rules, everyone's score stood at a flat zero.
How could they be ranked?
Ultimately, the Spatial Tower unveiled a new set of rules, ranking everyone according to the total points they had amassed.
The ranking of the Mage Towers would be determined by the combined points of everyone within the same faction.
First place went to the Elemental Tower, with a total of 22,063 points.
Second place went to the Spatial Tower, with a total of 15,456 points.
Third place went to the Summoning Tower, with a total of 13,452 points.
Fourth place went to the Phantasmal Tower, with a total of 12,405 points.
Fifth place went to the Alchemy Tower, with a total of 11,023 points.
The spatial mages of the Spatial Tower had occupied the arenas the longest, reaping a massive haul of points from the challenge stages.
They ought to have secured the crown.
Alas, an anomalous, game-breaking figure had emerged from the Elemental Tower.
Levi’s individual score alone had reached a staggering 8,982 points.
He had, by sheer force, dragged the Elemental Tower's overall ranking up by a massive margin.
The elders of the Spatial Tower believed that because Levi was the last one alive within the secret realm, the realm's spirit had credited him with all the points generated by the creatures dying in the Forbidden Spell.
Initially, the crowd had wanted to erase Levi’s points to negate their impact on the rankings.
But under the fierce, unyielding arguments of the Elemental Tower's elders.
In the end, Levi’s points were factored in.
Harris looked at the Elemental Tower's total score, which far surpassed the other four pinnacle Mage Towers, his smile blooming with unbridled joy.
Under normal circumstances, the Elemental Tower would likely have only managed a second or third-place finish.
The Summoning Tower, on the other hand, had leveraged their numerical advantage to secure a commendable third place.
In the past, the Summoning Tower and the Alchemy Tower always fought over fourth and fifth.
The Phantasmal Tower, hindered by their disadvantage in numbers, only managed to claim fourth place.
The Alchemy Tower remained the perennial fifth.
To this, the Alchemy Tower had long grown accustomed.
They were simply not built for combat.
If the Alchemy Tower were ever to rank first, it would only be when they served as the hosts of the exchange tournament.
The ranking of the Mage Towers determined the prize pool.
With the Elemental Tower taking first place, they secured the highest prize pool.
As the mage with the most points in the Elemental Tower, Levi also received the supreme reward within that highest pool.
Harris looked at Levi, his face awash with smiles as he said, "Levi, congratulations on earning an opportunity to read the Book of Truth."
An expression of surprise crossed Levi's face, "The Book of Truth?"
He had originally assumed it would be a chance to learn a spell from any of the pinnacle Mage Towers.
Harris nodded and said, "The Book of Truth records the truths of magic, records the laws of the world, and is kept by the Chairman of the Magic Association."
"Reading the Book of Truth offers a chance to come face-to-face with the truth of magic; what you gain from it depends entirely on your own comprehension."
"Seize this opportunity. Once you miss it this time, it will be incredibly difficult to ever touch the truth of magic again."
Harris advised him with earnest, painstaking care.
Levi asked in puzzlement, "Isn't the exchange tournament an annual event? Doesn't that mean whoever takes first place each year gets a chance to read the Book of Truth?"
Hearing this, Harris froze slightly, casting a glare at Levi.
He thought to himself: Do you really have no sense of reality?
If this old man hadn't fought through all opposition to win this single chance for you, did you really think you could secure an opportunity to read the Book of Truth solely on your own merit?
Harris only thought this in his mind, leaving it unsaid. With a half-smile, he nodded and said, "Yes, what you say is correct."
"Keep it up, continue next year, I have high hopes for you."
Levi felt his tone was a bit strange.
It seemed somewhat sarcastic and passive-aggressive.
Forget it, never mind that; it was best to get the benefits into his hands first anyway.
Levi said, "Elder Harris, so when can we go to the Magic Association?"
Harris asked in confusion, "Go to the Magic Association for what?"
Levi looked at him, "Isn't the Book of Truth in the hands of the Magic Association's Chairman?"
A realization dawned on Harris, and he replied, "Oh, you mean that. There is no need for you to go. In a moment, the Chairman of the Magic Association will send the Book of Truth directly to the Spatial Tower."
"Oh, oh, I see."
The others also received their corresponding rewards based on their point rankings.
Once everyone’s rewards had been distributed.
The Grand Elder of the Spatial Tower summoned Levi up to the seventh floor.
The Book of Truth would be briefly teleported to the seventh floor.
Levi had one opportunity to read the Book of Truth.
Once the reading was complete, the Book of Truth would vanish.
Levi was immensely curious about just how powerful the Chairman of the Magic Association truly was.
The Book of Truth recorded the ultimate truths of magic.
Since the Chairman of the Magic Association held the Book of Truth constantly, wouldn't he be able to read it at whim, peering into the truths of magic whenever he pleased?
His strength must undoubtedly be terrifyingly immense.
Levi felt a tinge of doubt, asking as they walked, "Elder Harris, if the Book of Truth records the magical truths of the world, then why do we still bother to explore those truths? Wouldn't it suffice just to read the Book of Truth?"
Without turning his head, Harris said, "What do you think the truth of magic actually is?"
Levi pondered for a moment, then said, "It should be the way all things in the world operate."
Harris said with a smile, "Your insight is quite unique. In a certain sense, it is indeed so."
He continued to explain: "But how do you think the Book of Truth will reveal magical truths to you?"
Li Wei asked in confusion: "Words? Symbols?"
Hris said: "No, it will show you the most real world. Whether you can comprehend the workings of this true world depends entirely on yourself."
He pointed around him and said: "Look, these rocks used to build houses—do they not contain within them the ways of the world's operation?"
"Magic truth also exists within the rocks, but this magical truth is obscured by their superficial appearances. We find it difficult to reach the essence of the magical truth they contain."
"The Book of Truth, however, will lay bare before you all the characteristics, essences, rules, and transformations contained within these rocks."
"Whether you can comprehend the deepest truths and essences they contain—that is up to you alone."
"The Book of Truth is not itself magical truth. Magical truth exists in every corner of the world."
Upon hearing this, Li Wei seemed to understand yet remained puzzled.
Magical truth was the operating principles of the world—every object contained the rules by which the world operated.
A blade of grass, a flower, a grain of sand, a drop of water, a wisp of wind...
Everyone could see them, yet no one could penetrate or grasp the elusive magical truth.
After pondering for a moment, Li Wei asked his final question before stepping through the great hall doors leading to the seventh level.
"What exactly is the Book of Truth?"
Hris countered with a question: "Have you heard of the Book of Creation?"
Li Wei was slightly startled and asked: "I have heard of it, but what relationship does the Book of Truth have with the Book of Creation?"
Hris smiled and said: "Legend has it that at the birth of the world, three books were born from chaos, recording the world's past, present, and future."
"The Book of Creation records the past, the Book of Truth records the present, and the Book of Destruction records the future."
