Chapter 371: Fake Death

Chapter 371: Feigned Death

Li Wei had obtained the Goddess's Tear.

Yet Storm City was under full martial law; anyone leaving required severe inspection.

Even if the Goddess's Tear was hidden within the Space Ring, it could not be taken out.

Transmission methods were also prohibited within Storm City.

One could not teleport the Goddess's Tear directly out of Storm City.

Teleportation was only possible after leaving the city.

The problem now before Li Wei was how to safely take the Goddess's Tear out of Storm City.

Once outside Storm City, the sky was high and birds could fly freely.

Li Wei stood inside a house near the city walls, gazing toward the ramparts.

Light Knights and Light Guards had already seized control of Storm City's gates.

The Light Temple had deployed detection arrays on the walls; no one could sneak out undetected.

Caught attempting to smuggle across, the crime would be far more severe.

Li Wei did not wish to risk trying to smuggle himself out.

He had to find a method guaranteed to one hundred percent safe for exiting Storm City.

Lancelot had long suspected him; smuggling out now would be walking straight into the gun barrel.

Undoubtedly a capital offense.

Li Wei's idea was to use the Illusion Technique to create a mouse, placing the Goddess's Tear sapphire inside its belly.

Then he would command the mouse to exit Storm City through a large underground hole.

Once the Goddess's Tear sapphire was out of Storm City, everything would become much simpler.

"A mouse?"

Savenia looked at Li Wei, somewhat surprised.

"You want to use a mouse to help smuggle the Goddess's Tear out?"

She shook her head and said, "Impossible; over ten meters of soil beneath Storm City's walls are magically reinforced. Not even a normal mouse, let alone a fourth-order burrowing beast, could likely drill through."

Li Wei showed an expression of surprise; he had not been entirely clear on this matter beforehand.

He looked at Savenia with some suspicion and asked, "How do you know so much?"

Savenia chuckled and said, "Before, we considered digging a tunnel into Storm City, but unfortunately failed."

"Besides the ten-plus meters of magically reinforced rock layer, there are closed magic arrays underground, basically sealing off all possibilities of entering Storm City from below."

Elizabeth spoke up: "I have a method."

Li Wei turned to her and asked, "What method?"

"Hide the Goddess's Tear inside a corpse and carry it out."

"These past days, Storm City has been transporting corpses and undead remains out of the city; although they undergo Light Temple inspection, the scrutiny is weaker compared to living people."

Li Wei's expression shifted; he turned his head to look at Savenia.

Savenia felt uneasy in her heart; she was like a cat with fur standing on end.

"Why look at me? Do you want me to play dead?"

Li Wei nodded seriously, "Unexpectedly you are so proactive; then this task is assigned to you."

"I won't do it! If discovered by the Light Temple, I am doomed!"

Savenia jumped up and shouted loudly.

Elizabeth said, "You hid in the Element Tower for so many years without being caught by mages; I believe you certainly won't be discovered."

"Elizabeth, why do you say such things too! I simply won't do it!"

In the end, Savenia lay amidst a pile of broken corpses and severed bones.

The Goddess's Tear was hidden inside her skull.

Her head was covered in bloodstains, attracting absolutely no attention.

To evade the Light Temple's detection array, Savenia completely fell into a state of death.

Her soul flame went dormant, turning her fully into a corpse.

Li Wei also erased all spiritual power from the Space Ring, wiping away all magical fluctuations related to himself upon the ring.

The Space Ring containing the Goddess's Tear became completely ownerless.

It would emit no fluctuations whatsoever, becoming merely a lifeless object.

Only if someone pried open Savenia's skull could they find the Space Ring hidden inside her head.

But Savenia's head was mixed among a pile of broken corpses and severed bones, covered in blood, hair disheveled.

Surrounding it were piled numerous severed heads of ordinary people.

Absolutely no one would pay it attention.

The cart transporting the remains was just a heap of rotting flesh and bones; no one was willing to touch it.

Let alone the noble Light Knights, Light Guards, and Light Priests of the Divine Temple.

Even the stable hands responsible for escorting the corpse carts were unwilling to get too close to the piles.

Unless the remuneration was quite generous, no one was willing to undertake such work.

The reason for having Savenia mix into them.

Was solely so that after the Space Ring left Storm City, Li Wei could still locate its position later.

Otherwise, the Space Ring, with all spiritual power and magical fluctuations erased, was a lifeless object.

Mixed within a pile of remains, finding it again for Li Wei was like searching for a needle in the sea.

Rumble rumble.

The stable hand drove the cart loaded with bodies toward the city gate.

A thick cloth covered his face, blocking the stench of raw flesh and blood.

As the cart approached the wall, guards on both sides of the gate subconsciously frowned, showing expressions of disgust.

Glancing at the Light Knights not far behind, several guards walked toward the cart.

"Get down, accept inspection."

The stable hand stepped off, removing the cloth covering his face to block the smell.

After his entire body underwent the most rigorous inspection, confirming he carried no contraband objects,

The guards inspected the cart filled with remains.

Using spears and blades to stab the cart, checking if any living creatures were mixed inside.

A Light Priest walked over and cast a detection spell upon the cart.

Check if there are any contraband items hidden inside the carriage.

The Light Priest's eyes shifted slightly, and the Light Knight beside him immediately noticed the anomaly, stepping forward.

"Open the corpses upon the carriage!"

Soon, everyone saw several skeletal remains of the undead mixed among the bodies on the carriage.

The Light Knight glanced back at the Light Priest.

The Light Priest said, "They are undead bones; there is nothing else."

"Hurry and transport the bodies away; next time do not mix the remains of the undead with human corpses."

The Light Knight admonished.

"Yes, yes, sir, I will certainly remember next time," the coachman hurriedly replied, bowing his head.

"Hurry up, do not block others' path," urged the guard.

The coachman dared not look at them for long; he quickly picked up the corpses overturned onto the ground and loaded them onto the carriage.

He picked up a woman's disheveled head and casually stuffed it into the pile of bodies.

Several carriages had already passed by before the coachman finished picking up all the remains from the ground.

During this time, urged by the guards several times, he could only endure and nod in agreement, saying "Immediately, immediately."

In his heart, he was annoyed that the guards had overturned the corpses but did not help him pick them up.

Covered in bloodstains, the coachman led the cart horses toward the city outskirts.

Passing through the magical detection array at the city gate, a slight fluctuation appeared, but no one paid attention.

Since the Light Priest had previously discovered undead remains inside the carriage, a slight fluctuation was normal.

Rumble, rumble.

The carriage exited Storm City, heading towards the Graveyard of Ten Thousand Corpses outside the city.

Not far away, Levi and Elizabeth gazed at the city walls.

Seeing Savinia successfully evade the Light Temple's inspection and leave Storm City, they breathed a sigh of relief.
